Hi, I have rented from Uhaul a lot over the years and my pick up experience was very strange and definitely not normal. The location is an autobody shop which was pretty trashed and not appealing to begin with. Looking past that, the person that helped me was completely clueless on what to do since the manager was away from the office. They pretty much ensured that i checked in using the app (which i did) and walked me to the truck and handed me the key. when i asked about the items i ordered (hand cart, dolly & pads) they said i would have to drive to a uhaul store to get those items. (which i would never do). In addition, the truck was trashed. Empty food wrappers & water bottles in it. Cigarette ashes all over the place. It was obviously not cleaned before i picked it up. In addition, the truck had at least 6 inches of snow and ice on it. I had to spend 15 minutes clearing it from the windows to be able to drive it safely. My expectation was to be able to pick up the truck i ordered a month before with the items i also ordered a month before and that it would be clean and ready when i showed up to pick up the truck. To have to spend time cleaning it and clearing snow and ice before driving it, and not having items i ordered was not what i expected nor was it appropriate.
