My initial contacting U-Haul included calling the location at 611 Port Alberni highway. I called once to see if they had a 15’ van and she told me they had one but to make sure I called back right away. I had to confirm my dates once I knew how much it was to rent the van. I called back 17 times, no answer. I then called 1270 Port Alberni U-Haul location, hoping they could look at a network to see if U-Haul was able to see all 15’ vans in the area and I asked if there was anyway they could look and they said no. I then asked if there was a way for her to communicate with the 611 Port Alberni location as they weren’t answering the phone? She said no and that sometimes she was too busy to answer the phone. I then called 1182 Island Highway East. The lady Sarah that answered the phone was very nice and booked a reservation at that location for a 15’ van. I went to pick it up yesterday. The lady at Arbutus Grove Motel had lost her voice and was using stick it’s to communicate. When I questioned or answered she would sigh at me and roll her eyes. She would slam the ‘stick it’ infront of me on the desk. I was very surprised that there was only 1/4 tank in the van. I was also very disappointed that on top of the mileage I was paying I had to pay for gas. When I received my bill I don’t understand why I was charged $2.07 for 108MI driven and $1.29 for 174 MI driven, when I only drove 174 KM give or take a few km’s. If you could explain that to me I would appreciate it. If I require the use of a bigger vehicle in the future I will try every other rental company instead of U-Haul. Yours truly, Very disappointed customer.

Aaltice MThere was a problem with the online system. The clerk spent over 20 minutes repeatedly filling out the information, only to have it reject everything at the end. When she called Uhaul for help, the lady over the phone said we were late for picking up our truck, and didn't seem like she was going to help. Finally our clerk told her we were there on time, actually a minute early, but the system wouldn't let her sign us in for the last 20 minutes. Eventually, after 30 minutes, we got the truck. However, we did miss the ferry. The clerk was amazing, she was very kind. I hope the system can be made a little easier for check in.
