Terrible, Awful Experience - Beware! Drop Off & UHaul! I wish I had looked at the other complaints before choosing this location. I assumed the process would be simple, but unfortunately, I encountered many of the same issues others have reported. The parking situation was confusing, with minimal space, and I wasn't sure where to park. After finally finding a spot, I had to walk quite a distance to locate a building that might be for the key drop-off. When I entered, the music was blaring, and I had to shout "Hello" to get anyone's attention. A guy under a truck responded, telling me to "just throw your key on the desk." When I asked if he needed to check the fuel level or where I should park the truck, he casually brushed me off, saying he'd take care of it, and never came out from under the truck. Despite returning the truck three hours earlier than scheduled, I was shocked to receive an email later charging me for an extra day, extra coverage, gas to fill the tank, and even a late fee! When I called U-Haul, they stated they corrected the extra day charge, acknowledging I had returned it early, but I had to dispute the gas charge separately. After emailing a representative, I was suddenly charged the total amount (extra day and all) without resolution or contact. This company has gone downhill, and it's incredibly frustrating. Now, I'm stuck in a dispute with the company, my bank, and the BBB. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. What a headache!

Heather CStrange way of doing business at this location..The agent was outside hidden by his trucks..he yells over here over here… we didn’t see him but he saw us.. when we located him he appeared to be irritated that it took us a minute to find him… As we stood in the blazing us ( instead of the office) he complained that he wasn’t getting paid to process the transaction and said you are supposed to pay thru the app… plenty of locations but I won’t be back to this one…
DAVID UTerrible! This location needs to be visited by Corporate U-Haul! It’s horrible! No organization! I confirmed my drop off earlier in the day while they were still open but when I got there, there was not enough room to park off the road. I had to ask another customer who was dropping off a U-Haul truck to move so I could get off the road.
Leon HNo one was at the site upon arrival. Agreed time was 10AM... we were told someone wouldn't be there until 12. We had to adjust our timeline to accommodate. All worked out but could have been easily avoided if informed.
Louis HThe dispatcher was nice enough when we were getting the truck. When I called later about some billing questions, he was rude. Even though we checked out the vehicle at 11 am. It didn't go through until 5 pm and I'm still not sure why.

tyler sThe owner of Ballards told me it was $103 but I was charged for $130 due to some insurance he put on the charge without my asking. I also never received a receipt so I called Customer Service to understand the costs. Finally, I was told I could drop it off at any location by the gentleman at Ballards. I received a text that stated I had to drop it off at a location 45 min from our place. Customer service helped this issue as well. This is frustrating considered I have used Uhaul to move from Ohio to GA in the past as well as to move furniture locally as well. Disappointed.
Corry S* Everything went perfect. Everyone at this U-Haul location was helpful and professional. They all took the time to answer my questions, and make sure I was all set for my move. I would recommend this location, and I will keep using this location for all my future U-Haul rentals.

Richard SIt looked like a junkyard, I didn’t know where to leave my uhaul and to get to the lock box for the keys I had to walk through a line of abandoned cars.
Levi DThe lot was crowded. My truck was difficult to drive out because of where it was parked and due to other (non-U-Haul) vehicles and U-Haul equipment in the area. I actually had to move a U-Haul car tow trailer myself because it was in the way. Tank was basically empty. I had to get gas immediately. Sorry.

michael mI went through the effort to Check in online and still had to provide the location with my credit card. He said it didn't go through. Why did I get a notice of that it failed to go through. Also, I checked in on 8/15/22 and I did not purchase the insurance. However, I was charged for it. I did not want it and should be refunded that amount. I have a copy of my check-in document showing it was not requested. Happy to send it to you if needed. Aside from that, the unit was clean and worked well for us. Would not hesitate using one again and would have rated Excellent if it were not for the issue noted above.
Gerald RFirst I had to drive 50 minutes away because there was not a Uhaul truck closer to home. I reserved a month ahead of time. When I got to the location, the online check in would not work and the location was closed. I then had to call Uhaul and waited on hold for 15 minutes until someone answered the phone so I could start my time with the truck. In theory the 24/7 Truck share is a wonderful idea, but it still needs work...

Harry ZThere was equipment put into the back of the truck that we did NOT reserve/want/use. When I saw we were charged for it, I called location and they were rude. We reserved and used a APPLIANCE DOLLY. We didn’t reserve nor did we use the furniture dolly (we have 3) or the blankets. I saw the green seal on dolly was intact. The bag of blankets wasn’t opened. He was ridiculously rude and said to contact company.

Rudolph BBallard Service in Slippery Rock PA was businesslike, efficient and knowledgeable. He had everything in order to get me the trailer I needed. He did the hookup, checked out my hitch, checked the lights, give me some advice to recheck the tightening, gave me the blankets I needed, and I was good to go. I'd rent from him again.
Dwight CCompleted lied to on location pick up. Phone rep "Brandy" was beyond rude. Drive over an hour to get to this location and the key's are mysterious " not returned" from the previous rental but yet ZERO effort was put into notifying us. Owner of this location was NOT helpful in any way. Absolutely the WORST experience in renting a Uhaul in 7 different moves. It will be the LAST time I EVER use this complete failure of a company.... Would love to see if a company representative will step up and at least attempt to make this right but monkey's will fly out of my butt first.
Jeffrey SDo not ever do the online sign in. If you have the uhaul for more then 6 hours you are charged for 2 days. It’s hell getting a refund this is the worst option ever if uhaul can’t get their act together then maybe they should not offer online check ins. My rental was from August 19th they waited 3 weeks then charged me for another day. Not okay at all when I didn’t even have the rental for 24 hours. Now I had to wait 25 min on hold for a rep and they told me 3 more days till someone else contacts me then god only knows how long before I get refunded. Im not happy at all

Megan BWe chose a local U-Haul location as our preferred pick-up site, and booked the truck weeks in advance. On the day before we were supposed to get the truck, we learned that we would have to pick it up from a town 45 miles away that was largely unfamiliar to us, at a site that didn't open until two hours later than our preferred site. It would have been nice to have had the pick-up location we requested, or at least one that wasn't so far away.

Scott MThis site was the only one available near our move location, so it had to be used. There was no one there at 1pm on a weekday, so we took photographs of everything, and are hoping there will not be any issues. Although the app was helpful, the location itself had no directions about where to leave the truck or how to return the keys correctly.
kevin bI’ve heard negative comments about this location n person running it. I called the number before hours of business n got hung up on. But when I picked the truck up, Everything went smoothly.

SARAH EThe truck was clean and in good condition. The dealer was a hole in the wall auto fix it shop. The agent there added that I ALWAYS refuse. I never discovered this until AFTER the move since the rental agreement was emailed to me. (If we are supposed to review and approve the agreement, prior to signing, then how are we supposed to do that???!!!!) For Heavens' sake give the customers a paper copy to review!!! Fortunately, I appealed to the district manager and he refunded the premium for the unwanted insurance (Yea for UHaul!!). But it still bugs the living daylights to be sold something I didn't consent to!!
John CI booked my U-Haul four weeks in advance. When called the day before my reservation to confirm, I was told the closest truck was 30 miles away, which was extremely disappointing, especially considering there are 3 rental centers within 3 miles of my departure location.
Sean NKick the dealer to the curb. I’ve never met such an incredible dick-head. Miserable with zero customer service skills. Also overcharged us by a considerable amount. I don’t even want to get a refund because I don’t want to deal with him ever again. Left a terrible taste in my mouth for u-haul.

Kali CExplain in Deatil when dropping off after hours at a location to go on line and answer all questions to close out your account BEFORE you lock the vehicle and turn in your Truck !! Entrance was confusing and wasnt sure what DROp box to leave the key in. Hope it worked out Correctly!

His troubleshooting, replacement of the faulty electrical equipment got me on my way in time! Awesome service! He also brought to my attention that my front tires were bald and replace both of them immediately! I will return to him for future service on my car as well as U-Haul rentals! Thanks so much for making my trip home safe! 😉
Renetha NThe gentleman at Ballard Service was extremely rude to me. I didn’t understand why he was acting that way towards me. Then he called me into his shop and started my check in. I called him the day before I rented the trailer to make sure he had it, then I went online and reserved it and put in all my info. He told he why he was so mad because since I put in all my info online that he lost his commission. I was very uncomfortable, and will never use that U-Haul place again. Also, I just noticed, I chose to waive the insurance for $8. I did not want or need it. I selected that online. Now it seems that the guy at Ballard added the additional $8 𝐈nsurance without my permission.

Michael TI had to travel 45 miles to pickup the trailer as it was the only available that week. Hard to believe! The location seems like it’s a junk yard that fixes cars and rents U-Haul equipment as a side job. Admittedly, there were no problems with the hookup and I was on my way. It’s hard to get them by phone as well.
Robert BWe were definitely scammed and they refuse to let us provide them evidence of the photos we have of the vehicle for when we dropped it off with no damage. When I asked for contact on how I could provide them the man Richard Ballard on the phone screamed at me and hung up without providing any answer. Looking at reviews after this incident of the location, I can see I am not the only one who has spoken to this man and had an issue of stealing money from customers, including various altercations. I do not know how this man continues to be employed as I have never experienced such aggressive behaviour from anyone in customer service or outside of the work environment.

Scott HMy order online did not add any additional charges beyond the rental charge and mileage. I even put more gas in then it had before I got it. However, the SafeMove was added to my online request at the site. I feel this is an inappropriate additional $14 charge that shouldn't have been included in my final receipt. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
