I’m not sure what the gentlemen’s name was who helped us, but we showed up about 10 minutes late and after a team member called the U-Haul person to the front to assist us, we waited at least ten more minutes. He was definitely trying his best, but was clearly not verse in the U-Haul website. He asked if we had a password provided by U-Haul for keys to which I replied I did not receive anything for checking in. He pulled up a website where he asked us questions that he filled out. Along the way, we had to provide an emergency contact. It was not working properly. He explained “this usually works after so do that,” and “I’ve only done this, like twice before.” After it did not work again, he stated he needed to go grab the step-by-step instructions from his office. He came back and said he had to start over so we went through the excruciating pain of going through the questions again. Along with this, he went and grabbed a bunch of keys from the back and said how disorganized it was. He tried to give us a Truck that was not in the system and then finally was able to give us the correct keys. We also purchased moving blankets that we did not get.

The check-in process was a lot of pain. I don't know if it's location specific, but there were two people ahead of me in the check-in line for one staff, so I decided to check-in online while waiting. During the online check-in process, it asked either an alternate contact or my work(!). It was Saturday, and my work is closed, but I mean, why do you need to know my employer????? I'm just renting a U-Haul truck! So I enter my ex-husband as my alternate contact, and you guys immediately contacted him. And he's not the most helpful person. He didn't answer your call and texted me instead, saying, "why is U-Haul contacting me?" Yeah, why? Why do you need to call my alternate contact? You already had my payment card. You thought I didn't exist? What did you need to know? The system was just insane. And you guys called me. Again, why? Nonsense. I uploaded my DL photos and everything. Finally the online check-in was done, so I talked to the store person. My phone screen told me to show the page and get a key. I showed it to him, and he said he still needed to check me in on his system. ????? What? OK, then what was the purpose of the online check-in? You even called me and spoke with me. Terrible process. I wasted an half hour easy. Please streamline your check-in process. The worst process ever.

Picked up a 10 ft truck for a local move. I would highly recommend using the app as it streamlines the rental process. The truck was fine but, if I were to do this again I would use a 15 foot truck - the 10 footer does not have a ramp (not a big issue for this move) and, being tall, I hit my head on the ceiling multiple times.
