Need better customer service at the location in Calera,Al. The man was rude. Charged me twice. I was paying with a credit card but only wanted a crrta9n amount on it. He put the whole amount on it. So he had to void that out and I ended up paying cash for it. It took forever for the money to go back on the card. Then he didnt out the right amount on the receipt. He was very rude. He smelled like straight up pot. Very rude. I will never use that location. When I dropped off the uhaul in Mounds,ILL. There was a lady there that didn't know what to do. Said she would text me so I can get my deposit back. Never got a text and never heard back from her. When I called I didnt get a answer. So I still have not gotten a deposit back.THERESA C.
Gravel or pavement not mud. I only used the trailer one day so I should have received a discount for returning it early so another customer could rent it. I have reacted twice in the last month to deliver things to my girls in Calera. With no discount I think I'll just rent a Penske truck the next time.Rhett G.

Ensure the office looks open. Ensure the truck is clean in both the cabin and the storage bed area. Both were dirty. There was ash and dorito chips in the cab. I had to clean the cab because it was just filthy. I am unlikely to utilize u-haul again unless these issues can be eliminated. I've utilized u-haul in the past and this experience was less than enthusiastic. The vehicle, too, needs to be serviced. The truck shook a lot and should not shake like this. Again, I've utilized u-haul trucks in the past and none have done this.Christopher S.

There is nothing you could do to improve at this location! Very professional and great service! If you were to offer a free rental for a complaint, I would have to pass. When you get such a great service I believe that you should let them know. Please make sure you get a chance to let him know what a great job he is doing. I'm horrible with names but on my ticket it says sppogieb under u-haul signature. Have a great day and thanks for the chance to let you know how much great customer service means to me.victorial L.

you guys should have the rental truck AT the location the customer requested.. had to drive 60 minutes out of my way to get truck at secondary location, but, the location in calera and the gentleman there made it much better. very nice and thorough, got me back on the road quickly and made up for the mishap of driving so far.. renewed my faith in uhaul again..Ryan G.

The lot was a sea of mud when we picked up the truck. The location was almost an hour away from where I requested the truck and the policy of not renting trailers, which is the rental I wanted, to lease, to drivers with soft top Jeeps was not explained and cost me several hundred dollars more than I would otherwise have had to spend. I will not be renting anything from U-Haul again.Kevin D.

Reserved truck at Pelham first. Sent crew but no truck. Was rerouted to Calera, waited 25 minutes for manager to show up. Turned truck in before 10:30 Sunday am, but was billed an extra day and truck logged in at 12:55 pm. I do not appreciate the over billing. Was also told I would get a $50 credit for no truck available. So I was billed -$172 at one location and billed again at Calera location for an extra day. Someone is mistaken or someone is taking advantage of meSteven C.
The Owner said he had an severe family emergency, but instead of contacting me he took the time to change his status with Uhaul as closed. I had to go to another Uhaul dealer next door who had his personal cell number. Uhaul headquarters didn't or wouldn't help me contact the Owner. All they wanted me to go 20 miles away to get another Uhaul. I couldn't because time of the essence. Also, I WASN'T giving the '$50 guarantee' from Uhaul headquarters.Johnny R.

Was unaware my uhaul location for pickup was changed until that morning when I received a text notification. I had to pickup from another city, only to get there and the location NOT be open! I waited nearly 45 mins for the rep to get there. Made phone call after phone call, transferred to â€œa supervisorâ€ nearly 6 times. I was so frustrated!dimetria K.

I was charged for an extra day from this location after returning the car dolly by 520 pm. The 800 number had noted my account as returned on time even though the return store closed early sue to covid.rob H.

This was dropoff only. No attendant was present. It took us several times passing the dropoff point pulling a trailer to even locate it. We then had to go through online check in. We had requested a different dropoff but received an email changing us to the one we ultimately used which was definitely out of the way.Mary E.
I had to get a unit 25 miles from my home cause no 15 foot truck was available in my town Clanton al. Which is ridiculous, by the way . I was never told on the phone of put gas back in it . At 79 cents a mile I should not have had to do so . So when a road trip was added for by in town moving , $109 was my fee for moving items only 11 miles . The guy Anthony was very rude to me . I will never be back there again nor will I rent a truck from you company at Rates like this . Poor customer service.Rita L.

This location was closed at noon on a Tuesday despite having two different signs stating they were open. Calls to the number listed went unanswered. When I called customer service, they were also unable to get in touch with this location and could not figure out why they were closed. I followed the dropbox instructions at this location. My truck was not checked back in by an employee until almost 7 hours later which resulted in me being charged for an extra rental day as well as an extra charge for damage insurance. In order to make this experience better for future customers, I would suggest being open when you say you are.Lindsay S.

The equipment was old and the side marker lights dis not work. When I got to the location a nice gentleman greet me and and when on to check me in and proceded to hook up the trailer to the vehicle, while hooking up the the trailer we discovered a used condom with fluids in it, this condom was sitting right on the thong of the trailer. This was very disgusting. They guy that assisted me was very nice and friendly but this location was below average, the equipment was also below average. I rent trailer from Uhaul regularly and this is the first time I get a below average equipment and a used condom included.Victor O.

No I can't because I had a reservation and uhaul rep, still let someone else take and say I need to come back in six hours. To return he didn't pick up his phone, the rep said to call him when return, I ask if I could drop he said no call me when you drop. Still waiting for him to fix the over charge now, he charged me for 2 days after called the uhaul customer support and was told to return at 0800 Monday morning Oct. 14, 2019. Sorry not happy with that loc. Thanks for all other help.William P.
I was suppose to pick up my truck @ 7 am. After going to 3 locations finally got my truck @9:30 am. Was very frustrating. Didn't have dollies that I had ordered. I hope my next move can go better. Thank u V Johnsvivkie J.
Make sure that you have the equipment that is ordered actually at the location, especially when you send a confirmation email stating it was there, also, if a customer is doing mobile pick-up, don't have your employees try to upsell them on things the customer doesn't need.Brandon P.

The fellow who ran the place was very nice but the location was hard to find since it was in a strip shopping center and there was only a banner hung below a sign to let you know that the U-Haul office was there. I can't believe U-Haul made me drive all the way to Calera to pick up the truck. Information like that should not be in find print.Joseph S.

There is no drop of box for the key when we left the truck after hours. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I brought it back home with me. I talked to the guy the next day and he said I could have left it under the seat but there were no instructions nowhere to do so. They need a key drop box.deondria F.

This U-Haul dealership is in an awkward location. Very difficult to get to, absolutely NOT easy to access with that huge truck. The area where we were told to park the truck was knee high in weeds and very poorly maintained.Christian A.

Your representative logged me in with 1 truck then gave me a different 1 with hardly any gas so i had to call him and let him know. He didnt fill out the contract correctly on where to drop truck off so now my credit card has been charge for wrong drop off of $177. My fiancee studies contracts for her businesses and her living so we have tirned this issue over to 1 of her lawyers that is on her payroll. If we can't get this issue resolved within 24 hrs then we are moving forward! We were talk to like trash from a black lady in your Birmingham contact office. We recorded the conversations even though she hung up on us twice when asking for information!david T.

Very nice people but not entirely honest. It took almost two hours to get the uhaul, although I had prebooked it online. I paid for it through the companies credit card machine and upon hooking up the uhaul, they said I needed a globe for lighting purposes, stated I could purchase from them and told me I needed to pay cash because the credit card machine was down (the one I just used and worked fine). They said they could not let me take the uhaul without the purchase. They directed me to their own atm at the front of the store which charges a $3 convenience fee. They had installed the part without telling me the price, which was $23. Rapacious and avaricious business with lack of respect for the human experience. I could comment on location, ambiance, as well as the fact that the trailer smelled of urine, but I'm done focusing my energy on this faction.LISA J.

I rarely complete feeeback surveys, but felt like I had to for this experience. This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. I had someone who rarely knows how to navigate the uhaul system (and a computer for that matter) try and assist me for over an hour while the main customer service representative who I spoke with on the phone twice that morning, Anthony, drove back to the store from running errands. To start, the address they have listed for their location on google maps is not correct, so I spent an extra 10 minutes driving across a town I was unfamiliar with. The inexperienced guy had to run me through the entire process three separate times. The worst part, was that he never once explained to me that there were two separate rates to me (in town compared to one way drop off) and the whole time I was expecting to pay for the in town tow which was written on their pricing poster. It was extremely apparent that he didn't even know the difference either. This guy initially rung me up for what I was expecting to pay for and the main customer service rep (Anthony) told him to cancel the transaction after I had already attempted to pay for this the second time because he input an inaccurate customer discount. When Anthony appeared- and hour and twenty minutes later he was flustered and rushed. He too, did not explain to me the rate differences and was just trying to get me out of the door. Andrew, the manager appeared at the very end of all this, apologized, and offered me a subpar customer discount. At that point, my wife and I had missed well over an hour of work and the customer service was terrible. I was baffled by how poor this transaction went.chris K.

Calera location was great. My complaint is about a different location - Pelham, AL. Even though I had called to make sure that the trailer I had reserved for a 2pm pickup was there, I was not informed until I got there that somehow it was damaged and unable to be rented. The GM of the location, Paul Baumgartel, was completely useless to helping us get another one. He literally did not care what we did. 1 employee at the Pelham location, Ashley, stepped in and saved the day by finding us a rental at the Calera location. Calera location was fantastic. You need to fire the GM @ Pelham.Brian M.
The guys were amazing. They practically ran the entire time. Safe and courteous and they just never stopped. I even asked them to let me help and they respectfully declined and said they were there to get it done and keep me from hurting myself. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone.Shawn C.
