The van was dirty. Spilled drinks in the cup holders which had become sticky, reeked of cigarettes and had ashes in the cup holder, and had packing peanuts and chunks of grass in the rear once we got to our destination and opened it. I also paid for a half dozen furniture pads, only to get there and discover there were none inside, but I was charged for them. I requested a phone call reference that when I paid, but was never contacted like I was told I would be. I know it's only $5 or $6 for the pads, but it's just the principle that I paid for something that I never got, and then was never contacted about it like I was told I would be. Not trying to be a Karen, but that's frustrating. Just got my final receipt with that charge still on there so I guess I'll just sit down and be quiet and pay for something I didn't get, and take my lumps and move on and probably not use U-Haul again. ðŸ¤·â€â™‚ï¸Eric V.

Both men inside the Cheapo Depot were also helpful, friendly, and efficient. All workers in the stores were great. I will still be looking at other companies when I move again. Changing my location within 2 hours of pickup screwed up my entire day, and was extremely inconvenient.ZACHARY N.

They told me to return it with the tank full but when I received it it was less than 3/4 of a tank. How can they expect customers to return it fill when they don't receive it full. I felt scammed. I had to call UHaul to get it taken care of because Cheapo Depot said they couldn't help me.Bradley B.

Had too have they haul back at 9 am and was there by 845 am and manager said someone would be there too take keys and I knocked on door and he said I have too come back at 10 so he waited too open door till after 9 too charge a extra 20 for dropping it off past 9 .. what a jokeMichael L.

This was absolutely ridiculous. I rented a trailer for a few hours, and returned it same day. Rental should have been $40. But I dropped it off after the business had closed, so U-Haul charged me an extra $20. This is absolutely absurd. I dropped the trailer of EARLY so I would not have to miss a day of work to drop it off during business hours and you charge me EXTRA? I have been a good, repeat customer, but I will NOT make the mistake of renting from U-Haul again!Dave K.

Reduce the ongoing steps at time of pickup to get truck on your phone. Constant webpage of asking for information, validating with another person via phone, Omg !!!@.rent the truck already. Far too many steps to pick up truck. Your CEO. Could never do this without help. A drivers license and credit card should be the only thing you need.Jeff S.

We had a â€œconfirmed reservationâ€for a 20' truck, which was made 3 weeks before the pickup date. Two days before the pickup, we were sent notice via email that the reservation had been cancelled because the equipment we reserved was not found within 60 miles of our desired pick up location (a large city in WI). Not speaking to the customer and working on an alternate plan is very unprofessional of your company and cancelling a reservation is an extreme inconvenience to your customer. Our plans could not be altered - moving day is a big event involving many moving parts to the plan. We, the customer, had to seek out help by calling several different contacts within your company to get assistance. After spending several hours on the phone, we were told our reservation was reinstated. HOWEVER, we were informed the equipment - a 20' truck - was only available in a town 2 hours from our home. We had to make that work at our end - we did drive those 2 hours each way to pick up the truck, then proceed with our move over the next few days. WE WERE TOTALLY STUCK and let down by your company, even though we were told, of course, when we made the reservation we were â€œconfirmedâ€. This was very misleading and untruthful. During COVID-19, a company your size with the resources you have should make sure you figure out how to honor your reservations and keep your customers happy. We will never recommend U-Haul to anyone because of the terrible experience we had with your company. We will also tell about the poor customer service you provided to us by cancelling our reservation without even consulting us first, then making us travel over 100 miles each way to secure â€œthe only truck available for usâ€.patricia M.
I returned truck at about midnight and was not due back til 10 am and receive message that I was late when I called was told cause I turned it in after hours I would be charged again. And when I went to get the truck took 45 minutes because of the Internet and so technically I shouldn't of had to return til 1044 am. But I won't recommend u haul to anyonekristi B.

I despise U-Haul as a company and have for nearly 30 years. I try not to rent U-Haul, but this instance it served my purpose. The trucks are not nice to drive and they hold significantly less that similarly sized Penske trucks.Dean J.

The people at the Cheapo Depot were very nice and easy to work with. U-Haul overall, I will not use again and I will never recommend U-Haul to a friend. I had reserved a 10' truck at Cheapo Depot in Prairie du Chien, WI for 10:30am and got a call the night before my trip that there was not a 10' truck available in Prairie du Chien, and that I would need to pick one up in Cassville, adding 1.5 hours to my trip to get to Elkader, IA. I said that would not work, so then there was supposed to be a 20' truck in Prairie du Chien 1.25 hours later than my original pick up time at 11:45am so I said that will have to work. I arrived on time and the 20' truck was NOT there. I waited at Cheapo Depot for 20 minutes so I could work with the staff on what we could do. They were very understanding and helpful and said that a 10' truck was due back at 4:00 pm (now 5.5 hours later than my original pick up time). They said which ever one shows up first, I could have. I drove to Elkader, IA (35 minutes), then back to Cheapo Depot (35 more minutes) when the 10' showed up, then back to Elkader (35 MORE minutes) to finally start packing up. This major delay impacted the rest of my holiday weekend because now I was 6 hours behind schedule and extremely unhappy. I had chosen my drop-off location to be Integrity Auto in Menomonie, WI, but SURPRISE, U-Haul decided to change that on me, as well. I had to drop off at a different location in Menomonie.Laura D.
Alice was perhaps one of the rudest individuals I have ever experienced in my 30 -+ years as A Big Box store manager. Absolutely not the individual I would want representing my organization. I had an email from Uhaul stating a return date of May 25th. I received a call from Alice on 5 -23 telling me she needed the truck and where was it. I stated that The truck was reserved until Monday 5-25 per Uhauls documented email message to myself. She then proceeded to tell me if I didn't bring the truck back she would report it as stolen and dispatch the Police. If I had any issue with her request she would not be able to assist me. Woman running the place was very rude and hateful, obnoxious! Tried to tell me my trailer had been checked and ready to go, it wasn't. Half the lights did not work, tried telling me it was my truck! This location has a limited number of vehicles, so the type you want may not be available and you will need to go to a different location or settle for a vehicle that is not your first choice. On the other hand, the location is convenient and efficient.Albert F.

I had scheduled a pickup of a 4x8 in decorah is a week in advance and was told Saturday they didn't have one and changed my pickup location to lacresant Minnesota only to learn on Monday they didn't have a 4x8 either so I started calling other uhaul locations until I found on in prairie du chain Wisconsin. Make sure all employees are well informed. We reserved online and used the 24/7 Truck share because we were picking the truck up after business hours. I called the location to verify everything went through and get an idea of how the process works. I was told that this was a mistake and the website needed to be updated, that we would have to be there before closing time and they do not offer anything like this. My fiance called back later in the day to see if we could change the reservation because there was no way we could make it before closing and some with a different employee. She was told that the person earlier was a new employee and not fully aware of this option. He was very great and made sure it was all set up for us. It went smoothly and was so easy! It took 3 hours to get ahold of customer service help when I couldn't get my key for the 24/7 service . The worker that was helping me after 2 hours apparently went home so I had to wait again for another agent in the pouring rain. Then my check in time was earlier than my check out time because of all the wait time and I asked for an extension and had to pay full price for another day. I think after all the inconvenience I should have gotten the second day for free.Krystal P.
John was great. Truck was available promptly on reserve date. Only comment, we didn't realize we needed an Alan wrench to adjust the mirrors, luckily a friend had a set and got the mirrors adjusted. Would have been helpful if pickup location had checked to make sure mirrors were ok for us since they couldn't be adjusted by hand.George C.

Poor customer service. Guy was high on something. Mumbled for 20 minutes while trying to type on the computer. Tried to sell me some weed vape thing. Transporter was full of ice and snow. He didn't come out to hook it up to my vehicle. I had to do it myself. Straps were frozen in ice to transporter. Had to go to carwash to soak straps to unfreeze them from the ice. Had to chip away at the ice where the car would drive on and sit. The list goes on. Worst experience I've ever had with UhaulDragan M.
My uhaul experience we horrible. I reserved a truck in Iowa , only to be told a day before I had to drive to Wisconsin to pick up a truck if I wanted a truck to drive. I did not have the truck returned exactly at 10am they charged me another 40 dollar for a whole day when it was a matter of hours. Was not able to change my drop off location but they can change the pick up location . Never will use uhaul again.Kelly T.
