When picking up all of the following happened: 1. Truck was not connected to trailer prior to pickup 2. The following equipment was not available: - 2 x furniture dolly - 1 x utility dolly - 5 x dozen furniture mats 2a. Was told by person I could drive down the street to another uhaul location and I would be provided the equipment mentioned under point 2 but when arriving at other location they said this is not allowed and they don't have any extra equipment for me to rent out 3. Truck had a lock on the bed so could not get into the back. I was forced to drive the truck down the road to another uhaul location so they could use bolt cutters 4. Once other location got the lock off we found another set of uhaul truck keys which also worked on the uhaul truck I rented. So I now had two keys for one truck very bad. 5. Was told that the truck had between half a tank and three quarter a tank but only had between a quarter and half a tank 6. Bed of the truck had screws and dirt in the back so I had to clean it out which of course there was no way that the pick up location cleaned out given my point 4. 7. There was still water bottle and trash in the cab of truck which this too I had to clean out 8 when going to the other uhaul location I had them inspect the trailer hock up job from the pickup location and they informed me the trailer was not hocked up properly. Most unprofessional experience of my life . I can't understand how uhaul can allow such a place to do business on their behalf.Daniel S.

It's a sketchy convenience store, where they had to open bullet-proof glass to have you sign paperwork. It felt unsafe, even during daylight hours. The guy working was friendly, but also trying to deal with customers buying stuff from the store. Also, they didn't have the dolly I ordered, so I had to go to another location, adding miles on the uhaul odometer.AMANDA T.

The drop off location attendant tried to wrongfully charge me an extra 10 days or $516 after he told me he was too busy to check me out. After calling and disputing the $516 charge he conceded that they were dishonest in charging me an extra 10 days but still wanted to charge me $80 for gas? This is absolutely ridiculous.Tyler C.

Are you kidding? I got locked in the gas station where the Uhauls were rented. Someone was trying to steal a cellphone in the middle of my rental purchase? Don't get me wrong; they handled that person well, meanwhile, i sat there waiting for my transaction to be completed. People were screaming about double-charging and buying single white owls, condoms and under shirts... The truck was so dirty, hash browns and knock-off cheetos everywhere. I went to check in my truck at Cheapway #10 3615 Dorchester Rd North Charleston, SC 29405 and the following occurred 1. The truck I was assigned the rear door was open and someone sleeping inside, also the truck was boxed in and could not move it from parking spot. 2. The clerk gave me a second truck but could not find the keys 3. The third truck I currently have was empty with gas and did not have a hand truck I requested. I had to get it from the clerk inside gas station. I spent over an hour trying to check in a truck. Most trucks were open and dirty inside from what I observed searching for my truck. COVD precautions were not observed at all for cleanliness and safety. I was pan handled for money outside the gas station store. As I stated above someone sleeping in back of truck I initiated was assigned and make as me wonder what kind of Customer Service U Haul is running at this location. I tried asking the guy at the counter that in the final question on the U-Haul return app said is the U-Haul clean for another family and I put no because with all this coved 19 stuff I would like for them to clean it and sanitize the truck for the next family the next family he said not his problem so I paid the 27 dollars even for the truck was clean I don't think it's fair and the attitude was not welcome so I will talk everyone of this experience and I will never return or get a U-Haul truck from this location.....Rafael A.

I was sent an erroneous charge for a toll road in Massachusetts. Was going to be charged a $30 fee plus toll. Had to prove it was impossible for me to drive from Illinois to South Carolina with the mileage used and still have gone through MA. All else was good.David H.

The pickup location was a complete joke. The attendant/manager working actually pulled a lighter down from his side of the counter and lit a woman's cigarette INSIDE THE STORE!!!!!! I had to attempt to find my own dolly behind the store. I could not find it and the attendant/manager proceeded to tell me to look in the trailers. Are you kidding me???? UHAUL, you should be ashamed to have this location affiliated with you. I tried to get questions answered about my bill and he said he would not answer any questions and that I would have to call in. I tried calling in over the weekend and could not get through to anyone. It was a joke of a process, and way overpriced from what I have paid in the past moving, via your competitors. Our requested location was only .5 miles from where were moved to in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Having to drive it to North Charleston was further out of the way which caused us to have overage charges. This place is not safe and should not be on UHaul's list of places to return vehicles. I'm a 6'1" 200 lbs man with my 6'2" 18 year old son and we felt very unsafe. I returned our truck at 7pm on a Friday night. The store ("Cheapway") was a complete, scary mess. I think there was a bullet hole in the plexiglass. When I finally got to the front of the line (everyone was buying forties) the attendant said he didn't know how to return the vehicle and would send me a receipt, I wasn't going to hang around and argue so we left without a receipt. I called UHaul to report this, and the person answering was great and made a note. I didn't trust not having a receipt so I drove back at 8:15am the next morning when I thought things might be safer to try to get a receipt. Again, another line of dudes buying forties at 8:30am. The attendant this time was quite helpful - he took care of me and sent me a receipt. He should get an award for working there. A UHaul exec should visit this place with one of their children and see how comfortable they are having their brand associated with this customer experience. Skeptical? Google "3615 Dorchester Road police" and see what comes up.David S.

One of the worst experiences I've had at not only any U-Haul but any store I've ever set foot in one of the workers admitted to lying about my gas because â€œi wanted to drive itâ€ both workers in the store were clearly on crack or meth and believe me I know the man was smoking a cigarette and got ash on my shoes inside of the disgusting store. When I walked up the lady who couldn't form a full sentence due to being obviously on drugs reeked of crack and runs up to me and just says â€œlemme get them keysâ€ in a fully slurred speech and was barely understandable made me so incredibly uncomfortable and made me feel like i was in the middle of getting swindled was just so incredibly awful. I truly don't understand how this place is still allowed to be open they were literally selling crack pipes in the store I just don't understand I highly recommend doing something about this or secret shopping it to see it for yourselves I cannot believe that this actually happened.Xavier M.

It's in a "less than desirable" part of CHS - I had three U-Haul Centers closer to my location that I would have preferred to pick up at than this one. The attendant was courteous and polite but, as a woman there by myself, I didn't quite feel safe there. The truck was not "trashy" but it was obvious a smoker previously rented and the cup holders could've used a wiping. All in all an ok rental - got the job done.Kara N.

The truck was good. The online and phone service was good. The pickup location was awful. It took me 20 minutes to convince the distributor that I had a rental, that I had already paid for it, that I could pick it up at 5pm. Was told multiple times "too late for truck, closed, too late for truck, closed". When I dropped off truck, distributor was busy so he just took key and told me to look for receipt in the email, did not check truck with me. I was charged for more than 100 miles when I only traveled at best 30 miles total. This was a close local rental for a short haul. I expected a large company would have better local customer service, and I am shocked at the blatant fraud on the miles charged. This truck was used for school business, and I will be passing along this information to our legal department.Karl C.

The facility was a somewhat grungy, smoky gas station. When I turned in the truck, I told the man working there that the furniture pads were not mine and that I had not touched them during my usage of the truck. He acknowledged this, but still charged me the cleaning fee for the truck, which I feel is unfair since I spent a fair amount of time sweeping out the previous renter's mess before I could use the truck myself.Michelle T.

We felt unsafe as my wife waiting for me outside the establishment witnessed a drug buy while I was inside trying to complete the check-in. there was one clerk in the store and the line of people never seemed to end. the clerk acknowledged the gas tank being at 3/4 full, but marked the paperwork as full.
