I will start off by saying I truly hate giving a bad review or complaining, but this has been the worst experience I have ever had with a u-Haul/moving company. First off I went on a Thursday evening to pick up a U-Haul truck that I already had set up prior to arrival after driving over two hours from Schaumburg to Savannah I sat at the U-Haul store over 40 minutes because they could not verify my identity and ended up leaving. A couple days later I set up a new reservation at the Rockford location for a different truck. I sat there for over an hour and a half no exaggeration myself and five other adults who followed me that were helping me move sitting there and two different vehicles that day I had to call several times I talked to at least three different people first they had to do the identity check again. It was a problem with that then there was a problem with the payment, then they couldn’t find the new reservation just very aggravating frustrating and so unprofessional after finally getting the truck the whole rest of the day it drove perfect no problems or complaints until I left Thomson IL at night time driving it back to Rockford. The people I had with me I let them leave to go ahead of me because I know they had to get back to Schaumburg where they all live. That’s already close to a 3 Hour Dr. I stayed back just to make sure everything was locked. Cleaned up. EXC worst mistake.. that night there was a horrible snowstorm that was coming down so yes of course it’s obvious drive slow pay attention regardless, but the truck would not go over 30 miles an hour then it ended up dropping down to 15 miles then I drove the last 2 1/2 hours driving only 5 miles an hour the slowest I have ever been on the road. Remind you. These are back roads extremely dark coming from the country. The truck stopped on me three times I was by myself a female, very overwhelmed scared. I was trying not to panic at first, so I called the U-Haul to let them know once again very unprofessional asking did I check under the hood tires? Any lights on EXC? They told me to go to the gas station. The police officer followed me there after I get there. They told me it was going to be 90 minute wait for somebody to come out. Look at the truck or tow it plus give me a ride. I called the number they provided the gentleman answered and said he didn’t know who I spoke with but he just got the request and it was going to take him an additional hour and 45 minutes at least for him to make it where I was at then the gentleman proceeded to ask me questions like am I by myself can I get an Uber or a friend to come and pick me up all these questions? This is not a light up gas station in a local area. This is the Boone docs straight country?. SMH then I received a message from U-Haul saying the mechanic/driver. Whoever he was that was coming out to meet at the gas station canceled due to severe weather and not knowing my exact location which was a complete lie because you have to share your location with them when they send you the request which I did I ended up, leaving there and driving, chancing it my life leaving the gas station and driving only 5 miles an hour of course the police officer had left already. He thought they would be out to meet at gas station.. I was shaking really bad crying because what I experienced only happens to people in movies I’m 33 years old and I had to call my mother and father several times to calm me down and stayed on the phone with me while I drove. from Thomson to Rockford would have been no more than an hour and a half tops to get back there it ended up taking me almost 6 hours again no exaggerations I took several pictures and videos. I have the police officers badge number/report I saved my whole call log and every text message communicating back-and-forth with U-Haul all this time. I know it’s good to have proof so I still make sure while trying to drive with one hand in the other hand, I was taking pictures and videos to be able to show them my experience. Just so highly upset long story short cause I know this wasn’t short finally talk to. I don’t know if this was the property manager the gentleman saying nothing was wrong with the truck no care in the world like it wasn’t a big deal like I made the whole thing up after I kept saying I have all the proof anything they need. I can come in person and show them. I’m not looking for a handout or just something free. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy the experience I had now supposedly he had to contact his boss and see what he says, but I will continue to move forward with this complaint because like I stated overall this is the worst experience. I had zero out of zero never again.

The truck was nasty. Dirt, grass, dust, trash and hair inside the cab and box truck. Picking up the truck was so complicated and cost is more money not being at the location we chose.

4x8 trailer w/ blankets. One way, Rockford. IL to Sebring, FL. Trailer lights didn't work till I "duct-taped" connections to stay connected. Trailer leaked at right wheel well and soiled furniture within trailer. Michael Griffith 843.815.4282 or griffarch2@gmail.com.

Due to drop off date being Memorial Day, I had to do the 6’ x 12’ trailer drop off without their assistance. If I didn’t have one of my children with me, there would be no way for me to drop it off. Uhaul DOES NOT provide a trailer jack or wheel blocks. When we finally got the trailer off, we had to set this seriously heavy trailer tongue on the ground, it began rolling due to a slight downhill in the parking lot and hit my vehicle. Attempted to move my vehicle and the trailer just clung to my vehicle like it was the only thing keeping it from rolling all the way down the parking lot to hit the neighboring building. Now, I would say it is reasonable that I do not wish to buy wheel blocks to just give to Uhaul (we used patio blocks when we were unloading but didn’t bring any with) but thankfully we found a cinder block in a different area of the parking lot and was able to get it to stay put. Uhaul does not keep the safety of the renter in mind by not providing these supplies, especially the trailer jack. My daughter and I could have seriously hurt ourselves. This is not the first time I have had an issue due to no trailer jack… the first time I rented one my other daughter fell 1/4 of the way unloading. Initially we were worried she broke her ankle. Thankfully it was only a double sprain and was able to wait until I finished unloading. Imagine going to the emergency room pulling a very loosely packed uhaul?!? I’m sure things would have been broken since it was no longer secured. When I rented Uhauls, they are for multiple days to go out of state. 4 days unable to unhook a trailer from your only vehicle is unreasonable.

I had originally set up to pick up the truck at the Loves Park location on Forest Hills Rd. Was not informed until my midmorning pickup time at the Loves Park location that the car I had reserved was already taken somehow, and then had to pick up at this location instead, which not only was in the opposite direction that I needed to be driving but added on an additional 9 miles to my overall drive and 40 minutes to my move in. So much wasted time and gas for my own car! Also this location felt a bit sketchy with the neighbors blasting 80s rock music at 11am, the cellular service is spotty and the app shut down on me twice trying to fill all of the pickup information. The folks there are lovely people, but I did not consent to this change!! I was then charged $3 more at the end because I went over in total mileage (BECAUSE OF WHERE THIS WAS SWITCHED TO) and had to pay an extra $5 in overall gas to meet the half tank requirement because of the extra driving. I am so upset and honestly am looking to get some kind of refund from UHaul.

I didn't actually speak with anyone here or go inside so I can't truly speak to helpfulness/cleanliness of location. I just did an after hours dropoff which was easy enough especially because the parking area was very accessible!

I sat there at that location for an hour and a half and was late to where I couldn’t use the U-Haul properly never again will I use that location or U-Haul? I’ll take my money elsewhere.

Note the left tail light did not work and the right tire was a very low on pressure. I got the tail light to work by cleaning the wire connectors on The trailer connection. Also note that the blankets used for covering the furniture our rentals in that purchase which I did not know therefore I had to make an extra trip to return them at the end location.

The location was unmanned and the rental had to be done by cell phone. Mistakes were made and I was charged for the rental to go to Texas instead of where I specified, Memphis, Tn. This error cost me about $ 100.00 extra which I am requesting a refund for.
