Let me start by saying the U-Haul agent was very nice, but it was all downhill from there. The location did not open when they were supposed to. Opened approximately 10 minutes late. On-line, my reservation indicated it would be ready by 8am, but the location did not open until 9:10. The agent pointed to the truck and said that's the one you will be driving and that's it. There was a customer before me getting a truck and a car hauler like I was. The U-Haul agent did not assist in guiding the truck back to the car hauler. She did not discuss to either of about connecting the trailer and wiring to the truck, ensuring it was done correctly. She did not explain loading a vehicle and securing the vehicle correctly to the trailer. She did not explain how to lower the driver-side fender well of the trailer, in order to safely and properly exit the vehicle once loaded. (the customer before me ended up having to first climb through the driver-side window to exit the car after it was loaded, and then had to crawl through the trunk to raise the window. She did not verify trailer lights and blinkers worked for either of us. I drove my truck to another U-Haul location where my storage facility was and they pointed out that the blinkers did not work on the car hauler and the hauler was missing the safety chains to secure the loaded vehicle. It was at this location, I was given directions about safely exiting the car after it was loaded, by first lowering the trailer fender well on the driver-side. Because this location was not a corporate location and they did not provide the truck and car hauler, they suggested I take the truck and car hauler to a corporate location approximately 20 minutes away and have them fix the issue of none working blinkers and add the missing safety chains. After approximately one hour at the corporate location (who by the way, was very friendly and helpful) I was finally able to drive away.

This comment is not about the pick-up location, but the U-Haul company. I made my reservation online. Then, a U-Haul Rep. called me to complete the reservation. I specified where I wanted to pick-up and drop off the truck. The Rep. verified the size truck I wanted was available at the pick-up location. But when I went to pick-up, the reservation had been transferred to a different town, without any notification to me. The location I had chosen did not have the size truck I had reserved, so I ended up having to drive to another town to pick up. The drop-off was a nightmare, as they told me I had to call a different # to reserve drop-off, but then when I was ready to drop-off, they notified me they had reserved a drop-off on the opposite side of town . Several calls later, I got the drop-off changed to the original site requested. Then, no one was there, so we followed the directions to drop off the key. I was told to call yet another # after dropping off the key, & I sat on hold for an extended period of time. I finally hung up, and called the main #, and expressed my complete frustration. The man then told me that he would document my call, so I would not be charged a late- return fee. One reservation should suffice! 5 different #s to address each part of the process is EXTREMELY inefficient and frustrating! Several of the #s actually pool into the same answering system. WHAT?!
