I can honestly say that this was the single worst experience I have ever had with renting a vehicle. Our reservation had nothing but technical problems from the moment we tried reserving and though ALL customer support staff was kind and treated us with respect there was virtually nothing done to help us out. Their website crashed more than once, the mobile app never showed any order or vehicle information and was completely irrelevant. The process for their Mobile Pickup process is not smooth at all. They promise all you need is your driver's license and a fully charged phone, but in fact half-way through the process you have to provide two different contact's phone number to which they actually make live calls to verify you before you can get the keys to the vehicle. It took 3 hours to get through this process because if they can not get a hold of either of your contacts the pick-up process is completely halted. Worse, there is no way to know that that this is even happening. Much of those 3 hours was spent on hold with customer support. I will say this again, their customer support staff was very friendly and professional. No complaints with (the very many) people I spoke to over this ordeal. The next day, when I called to extend the move, I was informed that there was a system glitch and my reservation was cancelled and I should never have received the keys to the vehicle to begin with. wooops. Support told me that if I was stopped by the police the U-Haul vehicle would show up as stolen and I could be arrested. This is no joke. At least they were able to quickly resolve that problem once they were aware. The main problem here is that we were receiving notifications from U-Haul (texts, emails, etc) about our reservation and everything else looked correct. However, we never received a contract. There was no way we could have known that. Finally, trying to drop off my vehicle was another matter that somehow also was a complete nightmare. We had reserved a vehicle for a one-way move, but little did we know that during one of the web-site crash occurrences our reservation was not flagged for one-way and we ended up receiving a vehicle that is not allowed to be driven one-way. Since there is no indication of what your drop off procedure will be ahead of time or any other information about your contract we had no idea there was going to be a problem with drop off at the end of our move. Again we were on the phone with support trying to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, nobody was willing to help us work through this problem. We spoke to 3 different 'manager' level people and a slew of other staff none of which could offer help. Dropping off at a wrong location incurs a lot of fees. Nobody was willing to waive them or even meet us half-way. Keep in mind...we are being CHARGED FOR THEIR SYSTEM FAILURE. An admission made by U-Haul employed managers that they acknowledged a system failure and yet we were still be charged for the error. Un-F-ING-believable. Relating specifically to G Hub Transport Corp, U-Haul told us that the manager at this location was the only one to help us with our drop-off problem. However, when we called the office (after receiving an incorrect phone number initially) the manager told us that it was out of their hands and that we'd have to talk to U-Haul corporate to settle the matter. The old classic run-around. Thanks G-Hub. All in all...I'd rather go through the agonizing and wasteful process of purchasing a used utility van rather than use U-Haul again for anything. Based on my experience I would imagine that even trying to buy a simple cardboard box from their store would ruin my weekend.Joe K.

The pad lock did not work. I had to buy one at Home Depot. You owe me $10. There was NO windshield washer in the vehicle. Last, some idiot parked in the area where rental equipment belongs making it very difficult to return a vehicle. The return process was a pain in the a$$ as a result of the snow and limited space in the parking lot.Jim L.

I probably wouldn't recommend this location to a friend, or Uhaul services in general. There's little information on the website and when on the phone, they are also not very helpful in being clear cut with how the whole process works. I'm not familiar with renting trucks, probably like most people, as it's not something we do on the regular. So when I'm renting a truck I want it to be simple and not add to the stress that already comes with moving. Not a clear price. I wanted to extend my rental time and there was no information on if it's a charge or if you'll be fined or anything. It wasn't until checkout that they tacked another $20 on for having it later. When I called the uhaul near me, they said I can pick up a truck (not a cargo van because it is only available for trucks), I can drop it off at a different location. But when you make a reservation online, there is no option to drop it off at a different location so it defaults to in town and had to be dropped off at the place you got it. So because that was not clear, and I wasn't getting any help from uhaul, we had to drive the truck back, adding more miles, having it for longer time, racking up a bill. I also would have stuck with a cargo van if I knew it needed to returned to the original location anyway. It's just not good customer service. Make it simple, ya know? And broaden the range of pick up/drop off locations. There are uhaul locations everywhere but so many stipulations on what can be dropped off where. Anyway, I will not likely recommend this service and will seek elsewhere for my truck rental needs in the future. Thanks.Erin G.

I was happy except that I was charged for an additional hour when I didn't have the truck for 4 hours. The rental was scheduled from 630 to 1030. I had difficulty with the checkout (my first time) and I ended up getting the truck checked out at 650 ish and returned at 1050 ish. There is no reason to charge me another hour in that situation and I had to waste my time to call customer service to get this resolved. The good news is that it was resolved without hesitation. The bad news was that I had to discover it, and spend the time to call in. Otherwise, the experience was absolutely fine.Eric F.
The 6' x 12' Enclosed trailer should have a jack to get the trailer on and off the car It is so hard to lift that onto a hitch. You are going to have people who have back and neck issues from it.Stephanie B.

Not related to Elgin or Lincolnshire is the uhaul process to make the reservation . I will go elsewhere and yes, pay more, because of what happened. I called 7 days ahead to make reservation. I said i need a morning pick up. She said uhaul schedulers would call 1 day ahead with time. I still had not received a call by 2 pm. Was told they had up to 6pm to call me. RIDICULOUS to expect people to wait until only 12 hours prior to know their reservation. THEN, I learned they had booked it for a 5pm pick up. So many other mistakes as well. Never again.Daniel L.
