Paul HDear UHaul. I have been a longtime customer of UHaul throughout the years. Many moves we have spent together. I have always received excellent customer service. On Sept 2, 2025 I hired Moving Labor through Uhaul to help move my apartment contents to the Uhaul truck I rented. The Company was called: Elite Movers East Bay (510) 626-7757 They were: 4 hours late From the minute they got there they were constantly complaining they were tired and wanted to go home despite being on the clock. When I attempted to give them instructions on fragile items and stacking items according to weight they answered that they did not speak English and continued to grab my moving boxes and threw them randomly into the back of the UHaul truck as if they were disposing of trash. I heard multiple loud crashes and multiple sounds of glass shattering. When I confronted them on what they had broken they lied and said they hadn’t heard anything. When I asked about how their insurance coverage would pay for damages they shrugged and said they were not insured. It only continued to get worse. I found they were actually stealing from me. I found all of my expensive Chef’s knives hidden under a parked car so someone their team could retrieve them later. My purse “disappeared” for half an hour when one of the workers “found” it inside an empty cooler outside. They stood around taking longer and longer smoke breaks and basically stopped working while laughing and talking in Spanish while they pointed at me. At that point I was the only one moving items at 10pm at night. When their time came to leave Jesus got in my face and demanded the payment code over and over until gave it to him despite the fact I was completely unsatisfied with their clumsy moving service. They were not movers, they were box throwers. I was promised by Jesus (the Owner) that he would have someone from their team come back to help for another hour at 10am the next day since they didn’t finish that night. No one showed the next day even after calling their main number all day. I ended finishing up by myself that day until dark. I was then violently mugged and punched in the face. Left on the sidewalk bleeding and alone. (I have a police report) The UHaul truck was stolen with many of my belongings. Gone. I would like a refund of $185.95 for this terrible service.

KATRIN RThe gas tank was on Empty and I out 20 dollars in the tank but I get charged $31! I brought the truck back with more gas than what I found in it. This is horrible. I should not be getting charged for gas. The vehicle was dirty and out of gas. The customer service experience was horrible. At both the Berkeley and the Vallejo location.

Ming KI called Gilman Street Rentals and spoke to Travis about truck rentals. He was kind, polite, and answered all my questions. A few days later I came in and worked with Travis to get my rental truck. He was helpful, patient with all my additional questions, and very kind. Everything went smoothly with Travis when I returned the truck. He made me super-happy I chose Gilman Street Rentals. If you want to take the worry about truck rentals, and have the best user experience, make sure you go here. I know I will be back the next time I need a truck for moving things.

SEAN MThe problem I have with this location is that street parking is hard to find. Other than that the guy who works the counter is very helpful and friendly.
GEORGE LI needed a small utility trailer to winch a toolbox by myself. And there was a small trailer at this location while I picked the largest one which was difficult to use. Then the trailer I used had a puddled ramp from wear and tear. You could replace ramps and repair trailers more often.

LISA CLow on gas and check engine light on. He assured me that was ok and could fill gas tank to the low level it was at. The truck worked but I still had to fill up right away which was inconvenient.

Susan MThe desk staff charged me for the Save Move insurance without my permission, even though I intentionally opted out of it in my online reservation and he did NOT ask me at the start of my rental whether I wanted to add it on. When discussing it this and the end of my rental, he fortunately agreed to refund me for it but it was still deceptive and not professional. Otherwise, the staff was nice and made the pick up/return process easy. This location was convenient for me and had lots of trucks, however, when I reserved online I also reserved moving blankets and dollys, but I only found out when at the store that they were out of all blankets and dollys and so was the next closest Uhual location. I would have preferred to have been told this during the reservation process (like it does tell you for which trucks are available) so that I could have selected a location that had these items in stock or bought some on my own - instead, I had to suffer moving heavy objects without these tools, and it really frustrated my Uhaul experience. Please fix this!

Andrea AThe truck was filthy, which I thought was normal for a truck rental. They didn’t talk about the fuel logistics or any safety features. I requested dropping it off at a specific location and they told me to drop it off at another one. That franchisee wanted to charge me a cleaning fee for the condition it was given to me. I ordered blankets but there weren’t any in the truck when I got to my move from address. I immediately called the main number and I was promised a credit. I haven’t seen it come thru and the drop off location wanted to charge me for the blankets. Just a horrible customer experience. I spent 30 min trying to stop it off at 126 commercial way in Costa Mesa and unraveling the mess. That franchisee was really rude to me like this was all my fault.

JOSEPH OVery friendly customer service. Gas indicated on the receipt at pick-up location has more than the actual amount on the U-Haul truck. Got charged extra at one way drop off location for not filling up to correct amount of gas. It is also very hard to find a location to do one way drop off, most of the location won’t take after hours drop off and even if drop off locations are open they don’t have space for one way drop off.
KELVIN LGilman Street Rentals is by far best source of rentals in this area. This time, it was Travis who hooked me up with a van. I was in and out of there real quick. And dropping off was a breeze. Thank you, Travis. I'll be back.
