Gilman Street Rentals is the best in the East Bay. They are focused on rentals and always have the best equipment. This time it was Travis who set me up with a close-to-new step van lickity split. Thanks, Travis, I appreciate you.
R TThe person who took care of my rental pick up was extremely rude and got angry at me for picking it up at 4:35pm because he said he has to clean before closing at 5pm. He kept saying "DAMN, THIS PEOPLE" "DAMN" while shaking his head in disagreement and he was clearly irritated and with anger issues. He was mumbling the whole process of information intake. I accept that my appointment was at noon but I was dealing with enough issues related to moving out that delayed my pickup as to on top of it, arrive to this location and deal with an employee's anger issues. If I hadn't really need the service I would have declined and let it become a verbal altercation because its just not fair as a customer either. He was so distracted being angry at me that he forgot that my rental included a dolly that he didnt load in the trailer. And I was so disappointed and wanting to leave as soon as possible that didnt notice it wasn't there until I got home to start loading and realized it. The loading got unnecessarily complicated by the lack of the dolly that I was regretting going to that location with every box loaded. That person should not be in a customer facing role.

Dean WThe truck I picked up smelled like someone had used it as a bathroom. The smell was unbearable after a few hours. I ended up having to drive through the CA central valley in the heat with the windows rolled down because it was so disgusting. Also, the gas tank was extremely low on fuel, less than 1/8th of a tank yet the contract stated it had 1/4th. When I pointed it out to the gentleman in charge, he said, "Don't worry about it, just return it at the same level." Since it was a one way rental, of course I had issues when I returned it. Luckily I took a picture of the fuel gauge and mileage when I picked it up. I still had to go through some unnecessary explaining at drop-off.

ROBIN SVan was not very clean inside or out. Dirty exterior, broken R side mirror. Crumbs on seats and center console. Small debris in cargo area, it had obviously not been swept out. Agent said “take it or leave it, just return it as clean as it is now.” Not what i expect from a UHaul agent. This particular location has many complaints about the agent named Travis. He’s not friendly, never answers the phone and would not even print me a receipt when i asked for one. He said “it’s all online i don’t print anything here.” I said i would like a printed receipt for my records please. He says “we’re done here go ahead and take the van”. Terrible customer service experience from this location.

JOHN RA clean windshield inside and outside would be nice and good for safety, as it was a little hard to see out of. The gentleman who greeted me when I came to pick up the truck was very nice and helpful, giving me return instructions, and how to drop off the truck after 4 pm. I didn't catch his name but he was great. Maybe it's 220DOONEY? Overall a great experience and now I know how it works when I need to rent a truck in the future. Thank you for making it easy.
DOUGLAS SI got very dirty vehicle. the gas point out less than 1/4 but the customer service told me to put min 1/4 back. I did that anyway but disappointed with how you guys treated the customer. Thanks

CHARLENE JThe location is not well staffed. We waited 15 minutes to get our truck and the truck had 7/8 of tank of fuel while the paperwork said it was full.

JAMES LThe van did its job BUT it was filthy and smelled like wet dog (?) and had a cracked windshield. I tried to clean the dirty windshield but there was no wiper fluid. Again, the van did its job, but the ride was not a great experience. The man who assisted me at the shop was very nice and easy to deal with, it was a very laidback situation.
JENNIFER HHe said that he hasn't got a van, but there were 2 of them on the parking. So I had to pay $35 more for the bigger truck. It looks like he just doesn't want to rent them.

Brandon NI usually have very good experiences with this location, so this was an anomaly. The service has always been friendly and quick, and they almost always put me in a newer vehicle, but this time they put me in a older model cargo van that was dirty, damaged, and smelled terrible. It felt as if the entire interior of the cab had once been covered in some kind of mud or dirt, and even though someone had swept it out, you could still feel it and smell it all over. The steering wheel and dashboard were sticky, and the seats were covered in dust of unknown origin. The outside of the van was also covered in a thick layer of dirt as if someone had taken it to Burning Man. In a word - filthy! And the passenger side view mirror was cracked to boot. All of which made for a thoroughly unpleasant driving experience.

MEHDI SRented a trailer and everything went great except the return. It was after hours and the area to return the trailer to was blocked by folks who didn't feel it was best to pull the trucks all the way into the lot. Not a big deal but the trailer I rented doesn't have any lock, so leaving it until the next morning was worrying.
