I reserved a U-Haul cargo van because it best fit my needs. When I arrived at the pickup location, I was told they had a van available. However, the only vehicles on the lot were large moving trucks. I was on a time crunch and had no choice but to rent one of the larger trucks. Had I been informed before arriving that the cargo van was unavailable, I would have gone to a different location that had one available. Instead, I was forced into a much more expensive rental that I did not need. When I contacted customer service, I was told they could not see the reservation details. However, if they reviewed my original reservation, they would see that I specifically reserved a cargo van—not a moving truck. Because the van I reserved was unavailable, I believe I should not have been charged the significantly higher rental cost. At a minimum, the $19.99 base rental rate for the van should be honored or an appropriate adjustment should be made. I currently have an open case regarding this issue. My reference number is 5899443. I respectfully request that my charges be reviewed and adjusted to reflect the inconvenience and the fact that I was required to rent a larger, more expensive vehicle due to the location’s inability to provide the vehicle I reserved. I did not get my furniture pads that I ordered with the truck therefore when the movers went to load my truck, my furniture was damaged. No one answered any calls about the pads.
