No one to speak to. Customer service reps were not clear on drop off and pick up locations. Everything by app nothing by person. Crappily owned and will not be using U-Haul side partners again!
AMANDA KI will never rent Uhaul again at a location where there isn’t an actual person to assist you (this was a gas station) and I will advise everyone I know against it too. When you are moving the last thing you need is any added stress with the truck and that is what this experience was, unnecessary added stress. I consider myself a technical person and it took me almost an hour of wasted time to do this. Here is how it went: - The sign outside the gas station was not clear on how to acquire the key for the truck from my online reservation, it just gives a qr code that just sends you to the website, nowhere outside says that you actually had to go inside and call a phone number that’s taped on the gas station counter. When I went inside and asked the lady said she didn’t know anything about Uhaul. I finally called Uhaul and they told me I had to call the number that was taped on the counter. This is after 15 min trying to figure it all out. - After calling the number, the tech support tried to help me acquire the authorization to access the truck key that was under lock at the gas station. This should have been an easy task but it was not. I used the website to make my reservation so I continued to use it to try to access the key. My phone had privacy settings that wasn’t allowing it to work so I had to multiple times access my settings per the tech instructions for my camera and for my locations to work, the Uhaul website kept denying my permission access even though I had changed the settings on my phone multiple times. I ended up having to download the Uhaul app, sign in, register myself again as I already had done on the website and it still didn’t work, had to change the privacy settings on the app again to finally gave me permission access. By now it had been half an hour since I had arrived to pick up the truck and I still didn’t have the truck while my family waited for me at the house to load up. The tech was kind enough to move my check in time because this had made me so late. He was the only one drop of good in this whole bucket of aggravation. - Once I had gotten permission access from the app it should have been easy to access the key but the Uhaul app still wanted me to again download copies of my drivers license, take a picture of myself, make up some number of the possible miles I might travel with the truck, tried to sell me other stuff and pay what turn out to be over $65 when the price advertised was $30. Finally after all that the app gave a code to access the lock with the key in it. - Once I had the access with the code it should have been easy but it turns out the manual lock was pretty rusted from being outside and I don’t have strong hands so after several tries I had to have my nephew come and help me pull it open. After that you still have to go in search of the truck amongst all the other trucks. Once you are in the truck you have filled out more stuff and same when you return it. None of this was the experience I had expected while already dealing with a very stressful move. I spent over an hour of aggravation while my family waited over an hour for me to bring the truck in order to start loading up for the move. On a 1-10 score I give it a 0.
