I'm 57 years and have traveled the whole world, and my rental from U-Haul this past Sunday was the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere on earth. I originally contracted with U-Haul for a pickup at the only Greenville area location that I could find with an open storefront. Then, 2-3 days before my pickup, I was notified that I needed to switch to another location to guarantee that there would be a 10' truck for me to pickup, so I accepted the contract modification. Only when I got to that location by taking an Uber from the airport, there was no one there. Two different phone calls to U-Haul arrived at the conclusion that the "manager of that location would not be coming there today" and so the helpful people on the phone sent me to a third location which at least had 15' trucks. Only it too was closed and unmanned. More phone calls revealed it was an "app only" location (the owner of the location was helpful and friendly over the phone, but that was a super sketchy neighborhood and I wouldn't recommend it). Fortunately I had the app on my phone, but it took yet two more phone calls to actually get it to function with tech support doing "refreshes" on the back end. Seriously, what is this, 1995 when the Internet was new? So, after two hours' delay I FINALLY got a truck and got started with my move. Had it not worked out I would have been in very, very serious trouble. Know this: I will NEVER rent from U-Haul again if I can possibly avoid it. You folks have a terrible business that you should be ashamed of.
