It took me a long time to be able to get into the lock box to get the key, U-Haul then texted me while I had the vehicle to make sure I filled up the gas tank before I got back so I would not receive extra fees even though when I first got the truck the gas tank was not full and I went under 15 miles in total with the span of two hours, the only pleasant part of the experience was your live operators.

Reservation # 14827520 I went into a contract with U-Haul for a 28 day rental. I have agreed to return the equipment to the location I rented it from. While on the road, the oil change light popped on. I gave their roadside service a call because I know rental companies tend to have in house procedures when it comes to their vehicle maintenance and I didn’t want to do wrong by them by taking it to a shop myself. Roadside connects me with a corporate sales manager in the east, Leon, who says that my mileage is over what was estimated in the contract. He said it would be an additional charge and I asked if it could be settled at the end of my rental contract period, which is what an employee told me happens when you rent and go over on mileage you estimated. Leon said that was okay and then told me to wait for someone to come out to service the U-Haul. A tow truck comes for the U-Haul and says that they were instructed to tow the van to the nearest U-Haul location, where they will perform the oil change. The tow truck driver informs me that the U-Haul location may be closed when we get there, which is a concern for me since I was camping out of this van while I traveled. I call roadside back to ask if I can just take the van to a shop instead and avoid all this hassle and they aren’t helpful. One woman said I’d have to settle my “balance” in order to receive help from them, which I found strange. The driver said he checked the U-Haul location again and thought we could actually make it in time so we head to the location. When I get there, the store manager says that they don’t perform oil changes at U-Haul locations and she was confused as to why roadside sent us there. She calls her manager and checks her system, where it is written that the orders that were given regarding this U-Haul were repossession due to Leon attempting to charge my card and it not going through. Not only did I speak to him about settling the balance at the end of the rental contract period, as an employee informed me as well, he confirmed that this was okay and never told me how much the charge would be. I did not authorize this charge or have any idea the amount he would attempt to charge my card for, and this was the reason for them towing the vehicle and taking it out of my possession. An employee at this store then informed me that going over estimated mileage is considered a breach of contract, although this is not specified on my rental contract and I was advised by an employee at another location (not the location I picked it up from) to go lower than you think you’ll need on estimated mileage because you aren’t reimbursed for miles not used and everything gets charged at the end of the contract period. I was told that if I called ahead of time to say I was going over mileage, I could have avoided this whole thing, which, again was never stated to me at the beginning of the rental and is not stated on the contract. I was told two different things by the same company: go under on miles because you won’t be refunded, but apparently don’t go over because that’s a breach of contract. It’d be nice if U-Haul could get everyone on the same page. I am no longer allowed access to the van, and at least $1,000-$1,500 of business equipment and personal belongings are in this vehicle. I was camping in this van as I traveled, so I had no place to stay. I have been advised to stay at a motel a few minutes away from this U-Haul location as things are “sorted” since this location was closing. I opened this roadside ticket around 12pm that day and did not receive “help” until around closing, where I was left stranded. I was deceived by this company regarding how their estimated mileage works and I was blatantly lied to about the “roadside assistance” I was receiving. I’d like U-Haul to cover this motel room charge as this was an unforeseen and unnecessary expense. I got uhaul’s safe move damage protection at the start of the rental, which covers cargo that is lost due to theft or accident, etc. I do not believe I will be able to recover my personal belongings due to my circumstances and would like U-Haul to reimburse me for my loss and for the motel stay. I feel completely deceived by the company, not only on the rental contract, but in their services, as well. I am being treated as a thief due to their predatory business practices. I am still unclear as to how going over estimated mileage is considered a breach of contract, when the term estimated means subject to change. I have been in contact with customer service following this exchange, and they’ve been helpful. I was informed the following day that I would be receiving a call from both Leon and the drop off location about how to handle this situation, and for reimbursement regarding my motel stay. I never heard from either. I contacted customer service about it and they claimed that Leon was in meetings all day and it will take at least 3 business days for him to get back to me. I don’t have 3 business days worth of money to keep staying in this motel, and I let them know that I would need my stay to be covered by them. I was informed that this could only be approved by management (being Leon), which apparently won’t get back to me for 3 business days. I had budgeted tightly for this trip, as I have business in 2 states. I am now set to miss my first appointment, which will cost me my second one, as well. Both of these appointments were set to more than cover whatever rental fees U-Haul assumed I wouldn’t be able to pay, which seems discriminatory. I understand their concern regarding getting their van back but this situation has been handled incredibly poorly. I was told when renting the van that it is advisable to go lower on miles because any unused ones are not refunded, so everything gets settled at the end. I told Leon I’d be able to pay at the end of the rental, which he okayed and then proceeded to charge my card without my knowledge or permission, and without telling me the amount that would be charged, which is illegal. He then took action against me, without me knowing, and after informing me that I’d be receiving help for an oil change, when he was really having the van repossessed. I read the rental contract, and nowhere on it does it say that going over estimated mileage is a breach of contract, as an employee here told me. However, taking action to repossess the van without informing the customer is, which I find ironic. This is also only supposed to happen at the end of the rental contract, as stated on the contract. The woman I spoke to in customer service seemed confused by the amount Leon charged me, as well, and said it seemed he made a mistake. This “mistake” has cost me a lot of business and my time. At this point, I’d like the rental refunded, along with my motel stay, as I was using it to do business, which I couldn’t conduct due to this incident. I called to make sure I was doing my due diligence with an oil change and I had my whole world turned upside down. The motel I’ve had to stay in is disgusting, as well, and they’ve certainly got bug problems. I have a cat and if this results in a vet bill for him, I’ll make sure U-Haul gets that, as well. I also have a current subtotal of $117,770.85 stated on my account, which I find not only ridiculous but insane. I am being treated as if I stole this van, when it is in u-haul’s possession due to Leon’s diligence. I’m being treated like a thief when it seems the only ones stealing here is U-Haul. I’ve had enough of this company and I’d like to be refunded for this horrible experience. Reference id: 5076685

I had a terrible experience from start to finish which begin with booking through the app as opposed to online as I had originally intended with the servers being down on 9/11 of all days to deal with this was a worrisome and exhausting experience as it took me nearly an hour to access my storage unit

We leveraged the night drop so we did not interact with the personnel then. The drop off app was cumbersome and it kicked me out before I took my final picture. Again, I had to make a call to confirm, but that was a bit frustrating.

Gas station wasn't open. Was going to refill the gas tank. I had to drive down the road to find an open gas station. Ended up getting charge for extra mileage due to having to find an open gas station. Parking lot was pretty much full. Luckily I found an open space.

The dash / cup holders were dirty and the passenger seat had paint spots. The shift stick would get stuck sometimes when attempting to change gears.

Location was great. What I do NOT recommend is that I did mobile-pick up and after checking in the day before to save time, my rent shou;d've started at 8am. I arrived to the location at 7:55am and the app didn't allow me to pick up my truck. I needed to open a browser in my cell phone, log in in UHAUL and it made me check in again, and upload again all documents required, so I finally could take my transportation at 8:20am so I wasted 20min. That needs to be addressed for future customers.

When the customer books a van at Natick, you don't switch them to Framigham. Especially when Natick had vans avialable. Also don't claim online that customers can skip the counter. How was I going to get the keys for the van with the employee handing them to me?

Don’t try to send the customer to a different pickup location when the vehicle is available at a place they know and have requested. MAGUIRES was able to contact you and correct this in time. I had cancelled and almost went to a different rental company, but they called and told me everything was all set. The truck I got was great, almost brand new and worked out very well.

I wasn’t able to find the keys so I was looking inside the UHual and the guy working there comes next to me to pickup a car but he doesn’t tell me I need to go inside. Then when I go inside same person hands me keys to uhual.

I had chosen this location for my one-way rental drop off. On the next day I received a text from Uhaul indicating my drop off had changed to a location close to an hour away from my final destination. I don't know why this happened. I called the toll free number, was transferred to the dispatch service, and they reset my drop off location back to this one. Everything turned out fine in the end, but the surprise text stating a change in drop off was not expected.

This was not my first location of the day. I was supposed to have rented from a location in Framingham, but when I got there, for 5:30AM pickup, they had not staged the vehicle the night prior. In light of that, the Maguires location was able to get me into a vehicle with no issues, even at 6:00AM (prior to the location opening).
