I had a big issue with my Uhaul Truck (one way) reservation, requiring me to make THREE different stops because the 1st location did NOT have the proper equipment necessary from the start, despite me having everything confirmed a month in advance. Rather than sending me to the incorrect location, I would have preferred to be notified in advance so that I could have adjusted the reservation.
Christian CThe Uhaul website messed up and let me set a reservation for 10am when Norcal doesnt open till 10:30am. Not the locations fault, other then that he helped me as soon as he arrived and was friendly and informative.
JONAH INot particularly friendly. There was no parking in the street so I parked in front of the U-Haul office. But then a mechanic from the shop next door told me to move the truck or the U-Haul owner would yell at me. I tried to explain that there was no parking on the street. He chuckled and said it was the owners parking spot that I had taken and so he would yell at me. I checked out at quick as I could and never met the owner. Not sure what I was supposed to do.

Alfredo SWe had requested equipment that was missing on pick up. The truck was dirty - cigarette ash/candy inside and dirty windows that were hard to see out of. With the truck in that shape it did not seem suitable for 24/7 mobile pick up.

I also had rented moving blankets and a moving dolly, only to find on the day of arrival and picking up the truck, that neither were there. I would have appreciated a warning in advance that the rental equipment I reserved would not be there.

Ian MImprove the instructions for after hours return. The instruction said to return the truck "on the lot" assuming that meant in the lot but there was a gate. As I started to open the gate someone from the business nearby told me to return it on the street. There was barely enough room to park it on the street.

However I had a reservation for a van at another location, but when I arrived the vehicle wasn't available because uhaul on line had extended the prior renters contract, not honoring my reservation. I had to find another pickup site & put me behind schedule by 1 1/2 hours. Not good

Pamela KI reserved the 9' cargo van at this site to be picked up by Truck Share 24/7. I got to the location 15 minutes before my reservation time started and I saw the truck parked. However, after logging into my Uhaul account and starting the live verification process with Truck Share 24/7, it said that there was no equipment reserved at this location. I called Uhaul customer service, but they told me that this location did not do Truck Share, but it is clear on the Uhaul website that this location does do Truck Share. I called the number listed for this location, but it went straight to voicemail (the person was on vacation) but did leave an alternative phone number. I called this alternative phone number, and the service representative stated that Uhaul didn't list this particular truck for Truck Share, so she did it on her end and I was finally able to start the live verification process. However, because of these delays on Uhaul's end, I was not 40 minutes into my reserved time. Finally, after finishing the live verification process, the lockbox, where the truck key was located, did not work! The keypad was out of batteries, and I knew this because the other two lockboxes' keypads beeped and lit up. I called customer service again, and they were unable to do anything remotely since it was the location-specific employees who controlled the lockboxes. I was told I had to cancel this reservation. All in all, it wasted more than an hour of my time.

Gordhan MI was extremely disappointed to find out a day before that I needed to go and pick up the truck 16+ miles from my location, and drive it all the way back to E Palo Alto! My initial pick up location was scheduled in East Palo Alto, and I was counting on that location scheduling my day around it. I was not planning on leaving early from work, taking about 1-hour Uber drive (in traffic) plus the cost of it to get to Burlingame, then take the truck all the way back to E. Palo Alto - another 45 minutes, including re-schedule movers; all that needed to be arranged at 4PM the day before my move! It was so uncalled for and unexpected! It was a mess and very unhappy with the U-Haul for simply dropping it on me to drive and finance it myself instead of making sure location initially offered had enough trucks, or move them around as needed. Also, the tank was not full as promised!
Irja SVery sketchy area on a dark night. Difficult to find the keys as all of the buildings look the same and there is not a UHaul sign on the actual building.

Gary KI found the self-pick up really confusing. I don't believe this is the fault of this Uhaul location specifically, but I wish Uhaul had sent better communication about how I should pick up the truck and what to expect. The generic confirmation email led to confusion, but the general support folks on the phone were very helpful. Additionally, the location was hard to find and behind a gate. There was a weird written comment on the front door of the location which was off-putting.

Paul wThe location was actually closed and we did self check, we had no choice in it. Had to call customer service because the app would not let me check out. Originally scheduled for an 0800 pick up in Belmont. The check out time was set for 1pm. Had also booked a utility hand truck but there was none in the truck. Had to go to Belmont for that. Very stressful experience.
Sylvia LMy dolly and mattress pads were not in the truck like I had ordered, and mobile check in process needed to be attended to by the contact I was given in an email. After calling the person and leaving a voicemail, she called back and I was told she was on vacation. I worked it out, but it would have been much better if I could have just picked it up from the closer location that was open, which is what I requested.

dorothy uwe booked it for 10am he did not show up until close to 11am and we had two workers the we hired and were paying $30hr waiting. no Parking and his neighbor yelled at us and was mad at him and called him " the kid is a jerk" after that we found out from someone else that they rented a truck from him and when they opened the truck it was full of garbage. not happy at all.
mary pLocation was closed when I dropped off the keys on the weekend. No obvious drop box noticed, just to drop them in a mail slot in their front door (which was several dozen yards behind a closed off fenced parking lot)
Lawrence LNobody was present when I dropped off the uhaul when they weren't supposed to be closed until 5pm. I dropped off the uhaul and key in the drop box at 4:45pm.
nick aWe went first to preferred location on Rollins Road and were told we had to go to this Marsten location. I never was called, but got text and email saying "per our contact" to go here. No one contacted me. Poor customer service again. We won't use Uhaul again.

BREINER RUhaul parking lots in San Francisco were I was supposed to drop off the rental truck were full. They made me drive all the way to Burlingame to drop off the truck and still made me pay for the extra miles too. On top of that I have been tossed around by the local locations and the 800 number to resolve the extra charges that i have been put on my account. Overall terrible experience.

Tamara KI have rented uHauls many times in the past, and because I dont know many truck renting companies, have always dreaded having to go through the process of uHaul. But my experience with Rob from Norcal was great! He was very friendly and knowlegeable! I would definitely recommend his business to friends.

CHRISTOPHER BWhen I originally signed up for a Van and a Dolly, the first location I chose had both available. When I happened to look at my reservation # a few days before pick-up, I saw that the original location did NOT have the dolly available. So I had to change locations. If I had not by chance checked my order, I would not have known my location needed to be changed because the equipment was not available. I should have been notified, that's my only complaint...
