I rented a 20 foot truck one way on Sunday and traveled to South Carolina from Nee Jersey. The truck I rented has a major exhaust leak in which fumes were coming into the cab of the truck. I didn’t matter if I had the airflow from the vents on fresh air or recirculating. Horrible smell the entire 10+ hour trip. Secondly I had gotten a good amount of rain nearly the entire ride down. Inside of the cargo area was soaked. Ruined quite a few boxes, an electrical warming plate and soaked a mattress I had on a blanket. Amongst a number of other things that were wet when I unloaded it caused major uncomfortable conversations with my wife about the damaged boxes that needed to be unboxed immediately. I think better care and attention to the unit should be taken prior to renting a unit with this price tag. The price I paid for this unit has cost me more money especially with a saturated mattress.
ROBERT KThe lady was super nice and got me on way quickly.
Marlin BThe gentleman that was there was very nice and helpful
Allyce Wreduce rental fee for one way moves. makes me never want to use the company again.
CHRISTOPHER MLocation was not close (almost 30" away from metropolitan area. Driving back, I passed a large U-Haul center that was much closer. Personnel was pleasant, but minimal help - as he expected me to unhook the trailer and I needed assistance. He saw me struggling with removing trailer, and I had to ask for help before he gave it.
Michael IAfter spending an hour on the phone with U-Haul to find a trailer (that I set the reservation for 2 months prior), then sent us to a close location and upgraded the trailer to an enclosed trailer (we’re hauling a golf cart) without knowledge all to find out when we got there. We are then told there are no trailers like the one I reserved within 100 miles and this location was the closest over an hour away (we’re on vacation). Get to the location and the clerk was very nice and apologetic but has no idea how to do anything with the U-Haul equipment or paperwork (even though we called to confirm before driving there that they had the trailer). She then has to call the owner to get him to do it or walk her through it. The owner doesn’t answer after numerous attempts. Finally, he answers and we move on. The clerks should know how to handle business at the store if the store owner isn’t going to be present at all times especially knowing there’s an incoming reservation at your location. So after 3 hours total round trip plus an hour on the phone and 30 mins spent at another location, we finally got the trailer even though we wasted the last day of our vacation.
Morgan GThe steering wheel and the door rest need to be cleaned. I found both to be very dirty and had to clean before I felt safe to use.
mark SWhile we had two separate U-haul employees on two different phones and the store employee it took 40 minutes to release the truck key to me. I have rented over 25 trucks from U-haul and never had this problem. TRAINING everyone would have solved this BAD customer service from happening........
Alan KNo help a available
SHAWN MThere were no boxes available. Otherwise, this was a good experience.
JOAN CNow i KNOW that most people would not have a problem with finding this place however I like using my brain and not depending on technology all the time. Also, things in the rural areas are not as close as we may think they are. The place that we dropped the truck off was more than an hour from where we moved our family. The U-Haul place was a rundown old gas station that had not pumped gas from the 1970's and was not open. There was no one around and being from the city I am not as trusting leaving a pretty new vehicle and car trailer out in the middle of nowhere. There was very little instruction on what to do and they key was left in an old mailbox with not lock. I thank God that all turned out well . Better hours of operation would have been helpful.
Margaret SEverything was really easy and went great, no problems. Thanks will be reserving another truck from this location again in two weeks.👍👍✌️
David SDrop off site was a gas station closest to my final destination. I probably would not recommend it as a rental site, but as a drop off site, it is fine.
MARK HThe customer service was great at the Lynwood Norris store!!
deanna sThe lady working the counter was super nice. The store however is in pretty rough shape. Half of it is closed off for what looks like water damage and the roof is falling in out front from someone hitting it.
Travis PGood friendly people
Patrick DThis location doesn’t need to represent any business ! The woman that was running the store when I returned the truck to say she was rude is an understatement! I’ve never been in a business where an employee was allowed to curse and be so disrespectful to customers in all the years I’ve used U-Haul . According to the other employee this woman does this to other customers. Not to mention twice when I tried to move my items the truck failed to start . To say I will never use U-Haul at this location. They definitely don’t need to represent U-Haul!! I need to be charged the money. I was charged with a truck that the engine light was on wouldn’t crank and then to deal with the rude employee that refused to call the owner. I would like a call from someone higher up in U-Haul 843-353-8477
Regina PThe Distributor wasn’t available his cashier released the key after she contacted him by cell phone to take payment, no documents were presented to be signed and no intrusions were given. Found out later by Uhaul trying to overcharge my card that fraudulent activity took place with rental agreements.
Justine GCheck for Accurate fuel guage at pickup. I returned it at the exact level I picked up and was charged extra for fuel.
Charles FWe had to go to Tabor City, NC, (Norris Country Store) from Myrtle Beach, SC , to rent the truck we needed. The friendly and helpful staff was worth the 25 miles we had to go out of our way. I would do it again…j
Jay WWas over charged for equipment. The contract was for something totally different. Needs better costumer care!!
Donald LAgain a very good experience
Tim Eno comments really. Transaction was very easy
Tiffany EI had too go buy spray their was bugs in the back of U-Haul ..so I sprayed but other than that everything else was great..
Mary CThe guy was very nice at Norris Country Store. As soon as we turned in the vehicle, he checked it over and completed the return process. Very prompt.
Gregory FOur contact was extremely friendly and helpful.
Mike DI didn't return the truck because of a flat tire and it had to be towed
MARSHA GVery shady place. Never went over anything with me and said I’d get an email with contract. Mileage and fuel were both way wrong from contract and actual by 350 miles. He told me to just take a picture of the dash before I started but never once came out to the truck. Not impressed at all. This location was where you changed me to pick up my uhaul.
Greg WDropped off trailer when they were closed
STACEY HFirst give the customer a receipt showing the itemized charges and what was paid in taxes. By receiving this receipt the customer can tell it they received what they ordered and wasn't charged for something they didn't order. Second listen to the customer and don't add things they do not want. Have truck fully fueled at pick up.
Wayne NSketchiest location I've been too.. And making me drive to NC to pick up the trailer was ridiculous too.
ZACK FThis location is sketchy at best. The person working when we dropped the trailer off had no idea what to do or how to check it in.
Laurie SGreat to deal with!
tina bI. Dropped to another location because it doesn't exist.
Carlos QClaimed the gas wasn’t back at 3/4 when I filled it up at the drop off location. Also Over charged me for the extension that was supposed to be 29.95 a day the last 2 unmoved days.
JAVONTE FAlthough it was a tiny country store, we were treated with respect and the process was very smooth. The manager was training someone how to check us in and even with that it was very quick. He explained everything to us and we were on our way quickly. Overall a great experience.
Nancy GThe gentleman that helped me with my drop off was extremely kind and I would definitely recommend his location for a drop off and pick up.
Darrick VGas price to refill there was at least double the going rate, very old pumps could not read the price, also only offered “plus” gas.
Joseph Scheck engine light came on just after leaving pick-up location.
robert hThey are real nice to everybody I like going there ??
Levi SIt was very frustrating gettin the truck with a lot obstacles.
raheem hI checked in with my phone, but ended up having to go in the store and redo every Otha today done on my phone, which put me way behind my schedule as the guy who was helping me was having a hard time getting things to go through stating it was a system problem. I’d already put in a credit card on 7/28/19 when I made the reservation, but he couldn’t fond that card on file until I gave him another card to put it on. The radio in the U-Haul didn’t work.
Nicole KVery poor service, equipment not clean. Very bad experience
Jennifer JThe person didn't seem to know what she needed to know to get the truck returned.
William DNothing!!
Aneta DVery pleasant and assisted us with the return
Thersea LI have no gripe with the pickup location, HOWEVER I have a BIG gripe with UHaul. I reserved a 26 foot truck at a location 1/2 mile from my home 3 weeks in advance. Imagine my surprise when I get a call from a UHaul rep just two days prior to the move telling me if I want that 26 foot truck I have to drive 40 miles to get it and on top of that I have to pay the .99 a mile fee. That's 80 miles round trip just to get the truck. So $80 it would cost me for THEM to pull this trick.48 hours before the move. I ended up with a 20 ft truck 12 miles from my home. I doubt I'll ever use UHaul again.... I would think a RESERVATION means just that
RICHARD MMake renting the equipment quicker, it shouldnt take 45 minutes or more to do the paperwork, not just this place but other places we have used, streamline the process
sandra bCleaner and better truck for the price. Maybe another location in the area since this was the only place for miles.
Olivia MAccomodating and courteous.
linda ji went on line and reserved the tow dolly. I got to the store to pick it up and the person told me that everything I did online did not matter. She started everything over again. It took her about 4 times of me telling her the same information over and over to get the information in the system. She kept stopping and waiting on other customers coming to the counter. She even started to chit chat with a customer that was going out the door about something going on in his community. I told her I needed to be checked out and needed to go. This was about 40 minutes after I had came into the store. After that she told me that i could go and they will send me a receipt. I have rented from other uhual before and this was the worst experience ever.
JAMES GTrain staff to not assume
Patrick DBetter Signage.
Shawn Hattendant that was on duty when I picked up the truck was unfriendly and uneducated. I had a minor accident incident when returning the truck. The owner of the store was not there. He has lied to Uhaul and told them I caused damage to the truck when in fact his employee told NC Highway Patrol that she had caused all the damage to the truck in the previous week. Now I have been charged by Uhaul $1180.00 for damages not caused by me. I have a complaint file #1856239 open. The Uhaul area filed manager, Mr Stedman, did not call me back on July 3rd as promised by customer service. I am demanding a full refund, including rental fee and mileage, taxes and environmental fee.
Michael MThe clerk at the location didn’t seem to be very familiar with the rental process. I was told that the fee for rental was $44.95, but upon checkout, it was $59. There was an $8 insurance charge that I was told was mandatory. If that’s the case, then that should be disclosed when the price is quoted. They offered no help whatsoever in hooking up the trailer or checking to make sure the lights worked. When I returned it, they never even looked outside to see if it was actually there. I have rented a tow dolly from the Little River, SC location before, which was a completely different experience. The Little River location checked everything before I left and when I returned it.
Mark GThe guy that rented the trailer to us was talking around the answer I asked after he kept pushing insurance on me that I didn’t have to have because I had my own and no matter what I said he talked around it and charged me insurance anyway and told me I could call the head office to change it. Well I did and U Hall was awesome and immediately refunded my money but why did he have to push that on me?? The location was an old gas station and inside was very sketchy looking with half blocked off with yard sale items. Would not recommend
