I had booked a cargo van at the Aurora location on Lake Street, the customer service rep from that location called me and asked if I could pick up the van at another location a couple of miles from their location. He didn’t tell me the location or address and I told him that I need the van for only an hour within a ten mile range. He said he would credit me $25 for the rental bill. Not only did I end up putting 25 miles on the roundtrip but I also got billed safemove insurance which when I checked in online I had clicked “No” and the customer rep at the Oswego location never asked if I wanted insurance. I did not get the cargo van I asked for instead received a 10’ box truck. It was way too big for a dining set I was picking up. So all in all this was not a very negative experience and I would think twice before renting from U-Haul. As I was misled to pick up the truck (not van) from a farther location, Oswego. 14 1/2 miles round trip. The lake street location was 7 miles round trip from my house. It took me 1/2 hour each way to pick up the truck. I paid double the mileage cost as well as double the time to pick up and drop off the truck. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the whole experience. My contract number is 13874571. I would like the $25 credit that the customer rep (Tyler) from the lake street in Aurora location promised me as well as take off the $15 safemove insurance cost that I was charged at the Oswego location as I was never asked if I wanted insurance, I was ready to provide my proof of insurance.
