The automated check in system is poorly done and ridiculous. I submitted my card and license on the check-in and then was still required to provide both of these inside the building. In total I uploaded my card and license 3 times from the time I reserved the truck (which wasn't available at the first location I chose). On that note I only received a call letting me know the initial location was unavailable at 8pm three days after the system told me I would receive a response. This location I then had to go to already had bad reviews (why I chose the other location previously) and I see why. The location was only staffed by one girl the weekend before Christmas. She was clearly overworked and too busy to be managing U-Haul pickups and package orders, but was handling it excellently. The line was out the door by the time we got the keys and we ourselves waited for almost half an hour after completing the lengthy online check-in (that again achieved absolutely nothing). Then when we get the truck we had to take pictures of all angles of the truck which was impossible because of where it was parked without stepping into a busy road on one side and a snow bank on the other. Finally, the interior of the truck bed was very dirty - cluttered with little pieces of trash and even a pair of scissors. What's more the truck had less than 1/16th of a tank of gas to start with so we had to fill it up immediately in order to actually make our trip. I will be going with Penske next time I have to rent a truck. Just all around a miserable experience.
