There was a young man that hellped get the trailer on the hitch on my car. The young man said I was good to go. I told the young man that I was not leaving until I checked the trailer lights. I asked the young man help me check the lights and to please go to the back of the trailer. The young man said he could not help me check the light because the trailer lights were not plugged into my car. I asked why and he said be cause I did not have the correct connection. I was VERY disappointed that the young man was going to send me down the road with no working brake lights/working turn signal on the trailer. The young man told me go get the 4 pin to 7 pin adapter myself. He suggested I go to O'Reilly. I called O'Reillys before I left the place and O'Reillys had no adapters. I called an 800 number provided. I was frustrated that the u-haul place was going to send me on the road with working trailer lights. My frustration came through when I talked to the guy who answered the 800 number. The guy told me I was rude. He said I should just go to a local hardware store. I said I did not know of a "hardware store"--and I was thinking Home Depot or Lowe's because I am from Glen Carbon IL. I am not from Robinson, IL. I only knew of a tiny hardware store in Robinson IL that I had seen cause it was by Dollar General. It was so tiny that I thought it would not likely have trailer accessories. The 800 guy looked up "hardware" stores in Robinson and told me there was one in a condescending tone. Like I was lying about there not being a Hardware store in Robinson. The 800 guy said it was not his responsibility to hook up the trailer lights to my car. It was my responsibility to get the proper adapter. The 800 guy said I should have reserved the u-haul from an official u-haul rental place that would have had adapters for sale. The 800 guy was not very supportive or understanding. The solution he suggested was for me to drive to Urbana IL or Decatur IL. Both those locations were 2 hours away from Robinson. I realized that the 800 guy was not going to help me. So I drove the u-haul to Wal -Mart with no brake lights or turn signals --Wal Mart was out of the 4 pin to 7 pin adapters. Then I drove to Auto Zone pulling the u-haul with no brake lights or turn signals--Auto Zone had the adapter. I bought it for ~ $17. I called U-Haul customer Service and told them about this. They offered to give me a $20 coupon to use on a future u-haul rental. However----When I clicked on the link for the $20 coupon--$20 was NOT on the coupon. there was $0 on the coupon. Some help in hooking the trailer up would have been helpful.
