Upon drop off, Mila, the accepting representative at Quality Furniture explained vague instructions to pull the vehicle around the back of the strip mall location and into an alley. She wanted me to back the vehicle into a parking spot. It wasn’t until I pulled around the back that I realized she wanted me to back the vehicle over 250 feet into a parking spot with no spotter or assistance and disabled vehicles on both sides of the alleyway from a neighboring mechanic shop. I nosed the vehicle into the parking spot and Mila was perturbed that I didn’t back it in. I asked her why and how that was feasible for me to do alone safely and she said it was due to homeless vandalism and windshield breakins in the area. I told her that was unfortunate but not my responsibility for local crimes and the risk of damage of equipment because of her preference. Upon checkout, I was then charged an extra $20+ for going “over mileage” which was an arbitrary number that was never communicated to me at any point in my rental process. A mileage cap was never told to me and I was never given an option to “purchase more mileage.” My route was direct from one apartment complex to a storage unit. Overall a very poor experience resulting in being grossly overcharged what was originally agreed upon. I’m contacting Uhaul directly in hopes for a resolution and, depending upon how it’s handled, may take my moving needs elsewhere.
