Terrible customer service, but I believe it's mostly U-Haul corporate's fault not training the personnel. I rented a 15' truck and a full-size trailer, so it's almost impossible to hook up the 2 equipment without being able to see on the back of the truck and have no assistance. It's also dangerous driving a car up to the trailer and try to operate U-Haul's equipment the first time without personnel's assistance. Unfortunately, personnel at this location believed they only need to hand off the keys to me and it's my responsibility from that point on. I was even lectured that it is "You Haul" service, so they didn't want to assist at first. Out of their charity (and they made it very clearly!), they helped me to hook up equipment, and again, it was done as if it was a favor. While I appreciated that they finally helped, I don't want to feel I owe anyone and it's not right that they expected to hand off the keys and the rest was on me. U-Haul need to train and make it clear with personnel here what I ought to do so that the next customer will be well taken care of. I'd expect a thorough equipment walkthrough for safety, assistance for hooking up equipment and showing me how to operate UHaul's equipment correctly and safely. If UHaul disagrees with this, I suggest its executives think about lawsuits when customers get into accidents on the roads because the equipment are not inspected, properly set up and wrongly operated before driven off the lot. I am very upset for low-quality and reckless rental service at this UHaul location. I would give 0 star if the option is available.

I would give 0 star if there is an option. I rented a 15’ truck and a car tow trailer. If you have done this, you’d know it is almost impossible to back up the truck to hook up on the trailer and drive my car up the trailer without assistance. Very dangerous to do any of those when you cannot see the back of the truck nor the ramp from the driver’s seat. Yet the manager refused to assist and even lectured me about “U Haul” (You Haul) as if he only needed to hand off the equipment and keys and be done with it. I told him repeatedly that I could not hook up equipment by myself, and I could also do it wrong and endangered my life on the road. Eventually the guy helped, but for the whole time it was done as if it was a big favor. UHaul needs to be clear with this service provider about their responsibilities and expectations to help customers. I paid for the rentals. I expected proper hook up and services so that I can safely operate them, and I don’t need anyone lecture me, especially when they fall short in their job.
