Despite having reserved a 9' van 5 days ahead, they did not have that vehicle on site and were not able to get me one. I had to settle for a 10' truck which was a) unneccesarily large, b) more difficult to drive (I had to go into go into NYC) and c) costs me way more than the van for tolls and d) had a terrible gas mileage of <8mls/gallon. To add insult to injury, they charged me an extra $100 because I returned the car allegedly a few minutes after my 24hr rental period. I also had paid for 150 miles and only had driven 120, but that did not play any role. Not great value for money!

Everything went smoothly until the tire of our U-Haul blew out in the middle of the highway during our move. The tire pressure must have been low when we picked it up and they never checked it. Luckily I was safe and no injuries or accidents happened and U-Haul roadside assistance replaced the tire after a 70min wait on the shoulder. It could have been way worse in terms of safety and I’m just glad I didn’t get hurt or hurt anyone else. I would urge U-Haul to ensure their locations are checking tire pressures to avoid these circumstances.
