Our experience was NOT GOOD. We live in Pella, Iowa and our move was in Pella, Ia. I had called our local dealer at Nicks's Greenhouses and was told they had trucks available for Saturday, March 28th but Uhaul preferred we book on line. I then booked the truck online with the location of pick up and return to the Pella dealer. Received confirmation of booking. Later in the day I received a call from Uhaul saying they had to change my reservation because there were not trucks available in Pella. I told her I had spoken to the Pella location earlier in the day and was told they had a truck available. She insisted there WAS NOT. The closest was Knoxville, Ia. So the location of pick up and return was changed to Knoxville. The pick up was scheduled after 5pm because his shift at work didn't end until 5pm. Upon arrival he tried to download the app and it wasn't working. He went inside the liquor store and was finally able to get the key to the truck. The app. still had not completed downloading. When the truck was picked up there were multiple X's on the truck of previous damage. While on the road he got a message prior to taking the truck he should do this equipment check. HE WAS ALREADY ON THE ROAD. After completed the move the truck was returned to the Knoxville location, the keys were handed in at the liquor store. He asked if anything else needed to be done, if the was good to go and was told he was good to go. The next morning he gets a call from Uhaul, which he missed because he was at work so on his break he called asking me to call Uhaul and see what was going on. When I called I was told the truck hadn't been checked back in. This is stupidly ridiculous had he had handed the key off in person. To add insult to injury, we had been told no trucks were available in Pella. It just so happens Nicks Greenhouse in on the was to and from the duplex to the storage unit. There was a truck sitting there ALL DAY. I know this because I live in Pella and had been past the Nick's multiple times going to and from Hy-vee and Theisens during the day. Always a truck there. I feel Uhaul changed the location to get extra miles even though it resulted in a HUGE inconvenience to the customer. Jason had to pick up the truck AFTER WORKING A 12 HOUR shift, drive to Pella and then return it to KNOXVILLE after working a 12 hour shift. Not Happy.

The drop off was at a liquor store and separate owners for the Uhaul agent. returned the Uhaul on Friday 2/6/26 and wasn't checked in from drop off Uhaul agent until 2/7. very unorganized and made several trips after dropping the truck to make sure they closed the ticket. I have rented U-Hauls many times over my many cross country moves and have always had great experiences....this rental was the worst ever. I hope it is not the sighn of the times with Uhaul to date.
