I made a reservation the day before I needed to pick up the rental, when I arrived, none of my equipment was assigned. Once customer service assigned the equipment, the keys were not available until the store location opened, which was an hour and half after my scheduled pick up. I was not refunded for the time I didn’t get to use the rental

The tires were not well maintained and caused us to get stuck and slip everywhere on the roads. The truck also started rolling backwards at the top of a hill. It was very unsafe and roadside assistance said they couldn’t help.

The person did not know all the steps to rent the truck to me and had to get on the phone to find out what to do. They didn't have any of the other equipment that I reserved (utility dolly, furniture pads, and furniture dollies). I went to the nearby store that I thought I was picking up from and was able to get the utility dolly and half of the reserved pads. No one could give me a reimbursement for the missing equipment.

This pick up location does not provide reserved items such as hand carts, blankets. The reservation was made for those items but they were not at the site so I had to spend $100 on a hand cart the morning of our move. I believe this is a problem with the national reservation website (again). It sucks.

I traveled a total of 25 miles in a vehicle that gets 12 miles to the gallon with a load of under 100 lbs. I filled it back up with two gallons of gas at the end, and I was still charged for an additional 2 gallons of gas. In the end, I was on the hook for approximately 48 miles worth of travel - double the amount I actually traveled. They say "The vehicle starts with 7/8 of a tank, and you have to return it with 7/8 of a tank" - of course, you're just eyeballing the gauge, so who's to say you were slightly over, slightly under, or right on that 7/8 mark? Apparently, customers are expected to return the vehicle with more fuel than it came with. Additionally, the $15 safe move coverage was snuck back into my contract after I initially rejected it. I explicitly rejected it with my original reservation, but because they didn't have the vehicle type I requested, U Haul automatically changed it to a 10-foot truck, and at the same time, apparently automatically added in that $15 dollar fee. I ended up paying about $25 more than I expected to pay due to the extra fuel and coverage. U Haul's business model seems to be based on sneaking in as many extra fees as possible.

The only thing that went wrong was after we had dropped off the vehicle, we received a call from U-Haul the following day asking when we were going to return the vehicle. I told them that we had already returned it, and then I got an email receipt saying that we had rented the vehicle for 2 whole days rather than the 4 hours that we had it. I believe the issue got resolved and the extra charges were removed, but it was a bit confusing and chaotic for a day or too

I submitted a complaint concerning the total mileage. I was billed for over 100 miles which is totally wrong. I MapQuested my route and it was approximately 25 miles (NOT 114)! No one contacted me back after my invoice query which was very disappointing.

The truck was fine - relatively clean, no mechanical issues. However the mobile pick up was confusing, especially with the poor cell service in the area. Additionally I opened the lock box to get my key & there was no key there. So I called Uhaul & was on hold, when finally a lady came out of the liquor store & said she had a key to the truck for me. My pick up was scheduled for 9:30 & it was 10 at the point, so I asked if I could extend my time a half an hour to make up for the delay in pick up & she said she couldn’t help me. Also, the passenger door of the truck was unlocked when we got there & the back of the truck was unlocked so it didn’t seem very secure. The truck was also low on gas when we picked it up. I wasn’t able to submit any photos when I picked up the vehicle but I was required to when I returned it which was confusing as there will be no before pictures for Uhaul to compare too.
