Used the website with my account log in (as I’ve used U-Haul many times in the past) to make the reservation for a 10’ truck on 2/28/26, 7am pick up at County Market, 231 Illini Blvd, Sherman, IL 62684, which was super-convenient as I was loading the truck in Sherman! I added the Safe Move and the Safe Trip add-ons at additional cost. A week later I received a voicemail stating my reservation has been moved to The Crossing Too, 2828 E Clear Lake Ave, Springfield, IL 62703—NOT convenient for me; and they’d allow me to use a 15’ truck for the same price as the 10’ truck. I had to leave my car at the location and had a lot of apprehension in doing so. The neighborhood isn’t great, it’s a liquor store parking lot, and there appears to be an RV with someone living in it in the parking lot. The mobile check out was easy enough, the back of the truck had clumps of dried mud and leaves on the floor. I swept it out before returning the truck. The truck sounded like it was mechanically worn out as I drove it, but it made the trip alright. During the mobile check in and completion I was charged around $16 for fuel, although I filled the gas tank before returning the truck to just over what it was before. I have to say that Terry, the contact person for The Crossing location, was SO helpful and even credited me $50 for the fuel and for my trouble. Still, a hassle and time consuming to follow-up and deal with all of this in addition to the stress of a home move! I will not reserve a truck from this location (The Crossing) again and don’t understand why I couldn’t have the 10’ truck that I saw sitting in the lot of County Market in Sherman on the day of my move in Sherman.

I will not go to that location ever again to pick up a u-haul. I was very uncomfortable. Also my initial estimated bill almost tripled when truck returned. Your agent both there and on phone was very hard to understand
Linda BIt's a liquor store. Gross. Nasty looking place. Employee did not speak English well, hard time understanding him. Said he couldn't print a receipt. I first attempted to deliver the truck up the road at the huge U-haul location. Was told I couldn't drop it there, that I had to take it to the liquor store a quarter mile away. What?! Why? My reservation had an open location return. Not sure why I was directed from a huge actual u-haul place to a hole-in-the-wall liquor store. That was weird and made no sense. Whatever. During unloading on Sunday, the key got locked in the truck. I called the south 6th street location. Guy on the phone said I had to call roadside services. I asked for the number. He said it's on the contract. I told him I didn't get a contract at pickup. He basically called me a liar and said "No one leaves in a truck without the paper in hand". I said that I certainly did! Wasn't given anything but the key. Asked again for the phone number. He said get it from your contract. I said again that i didn't get one and even if I had, it would be locked in the truck which was my issue! Asked yet again to please give me the number. He again said get it from the contract. That's about where I wanted to go thru the phone. Really?? You can't just tell me the damn number??? He said "Nope" and hung up. I had originally intended to drop the rental there. But after that?!? It would not have been pleasant. Don't know who he was besides a rude jerk that knows zero about customer service. And when it's zero wind chill out, trying to move, I'm 59 yo.... To say I was pissed is an understatement. Thank you Google for the phone number.
DOLORES DNo dolly was provided that I paid for. Agent told me over the phone that I would be picking up from Clear Lake ave. Just to be sent to a liquor store down the street.
Jack TThey were friendly and helpful.
Tali MThe U haul truck was parked in the grass/mud and covered in snow and a pile of snow in front of it. The key was not in the lock box so the employee at the liquor store there had to call his boss where the key was insid. I was doing a remote pickup so should not have had to be in that situation. I also had to get the truck unstuck out of the mud on my own.
