Improve staffing and overall customer service. Staff are very inconvenienced. Do not make a reservation online as there’s a chance they will not have what you’ve reserved and will not notify you beforehand. Invest in automated kiosks… get rid of the employees who are upset they have to work the job they chose.

Janet FA PLEASANT START: Up until the very end the overall experience was excellent as usual...very friendly and helpful receptionist and yard assistant, however the pickup truck we rented for towing our boat did not have properly functional trailer lights and I did not realize it until later in the day when we were finally ready to 'hook up' and begin the 2 hr. drive to the coast. THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS: I would not have assumed I should test UHAUL's trailer plug outlet before leaving the lot. Never have in the past 12 years we've been doing business. We wasted much needed time trying to fix our BOAT trailer lights that WASN'T the problem. By the time I obtained a circuit tester and found there was NO POWER in the UHAUL's trailer plug for neither 'brakes' nor 'turn signals'...the day had wasted away and it was too late for us to go. A SAD AND DISAPPOINTING ENDING to what started out so excellent. UHAUL would not accept full responsibility and only refunded us less than half the amount we spent. The truck was useless for what we rented it for. This was our 1st time using the Capital Av, Htfd lot in several years...we were very dissapointed. We deserved a 'FULL' refund!!! ADVICE: Trust nobody!!! People, bring a cheap 'Voltage Tester' and check the rear truck trailer light plug 'adapter' yourself BEFORE leaving the lot.

STEVE FWhen I got to the place to return trailer one of the employees came out side for something that happened with the trailer and started raising his voice at me and we started arguing and he told me to go back at 7pm the time he get out of work and that he was going to have people waiting to beat me up.
EDUARDO RFuel reading was mistaken. Was charges 6 gallons or about $24 for 20 miles. Agents then blamed me for not checking it. Rude and unprofessional. The location is taking advantage of people.

DONALD ZI have used u haul many times. Twice I needed u haul for storage. Both experiences were good. Nice people, good customer service, clean facillity and easy access goes a long way. Several times I have rented trucks from u haul. If I had an issue it was resolved quickly and the truck return process is quick, easy. If you do not have mobile data or wifi or a Hotspot no worries u haul provides wifi.

PAUL PEvening R was the employee you helped us and he was very rude and not pleasant. He failed to inspect the equipment he rented out to us. The car trailer strap was so worn we had to unload the vehicle we tried loading to go purchase our own strap to hold it. When we asked for partial reimbursement he gave much attitude and said expected we replaced that strap on trailer itself. He then got very angry with us. And failed to reimburse us

KJ took the time to call and confirm that I in fact wanted a utility trailer and indicated he could get a cargo trailer if that is what I really needed. Great customer service! Always try to use the Capital Ave location for my rentals.

MARIA CThis was my first and actually last time using this service. For starters the process to obtain a vehicle is too long. Then my rental was blocked in by another rental. So I had to call customer service and they had to walk me through the process of swapping rentals. Actually the representative was very helpful. I reserved blankets to protect my items, they weren't in either rental, but I got charged for them anyway. Upon returning my vehicle the staff was extremely impatient and rude. He spoke to me as if I worked there and knew all of the answers. Overall the experience was very unpleasant.
SHADRICK DCheck the straps on the utility dolly’s. Mine had a strap that was compromised and hanging by a thread at a point and that made it difficult to tighten.
CHARTE BBased on my overall experience I would only recommend U-haul to people I hate, out of spite, in hopes they have as annoying of experience as I did.

RICHARD LI am HUGELY disappointed with U-Haul. I rented a cargo van this morning. It was clean & easy to drive. But when I returned it, I was told that I used up 3 gallons of gas. I drove the van only 17 miles!! There's NOOOOOOOOO way I used up 3 gallons of gas. (U-Haul's website indicates that cargo vans get about 18 mpg.) They told me the electronic device registering the vehicle's usage doesn't lie, & at any rate, I signed off on the gas tank when I rented it (11/12 full). This is obviously a scam! I last rented from U-Haul 27 years ago & the same thing happened: my U-Haul rental was from a gas station, so I filled it up right at the source when I returned it--& I was then charged for an additional 2 gallons. Gee, some things never change, apparently! I can assure you that this will not happen again--because I will never rent from U-Haul again!

ASHLEY STruck had one headlight out, pulsating brakes. Said there was 3/4 tank of gas but it was more like 1/4. When we returned 22 miles later, were told it has to be over 1/4 or there is a $57 refill charge. Check in clerk was pleasant, check out clerk not at all.

CHASITY RSubject: Customer Service Complaint Regarding U-Haul Experience Contract No: 23436027 Dear [U-Haul Customer Service Manager], I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the level of customer service I received at your 755 Capitol Ave, hartford, CT 06106: Store #924059, on February 8. My interaction with one of your employees was unprofessional and unacceptable, and I believe it warrants your attention. On February 8, at approximately 5:00 PM, I contacted U-Haul’s customer service hotline to inquire whether I could park my 10-foot truck at the rental location overnight and pick it up the next morning to continue my move, as I had the truck for a full 24 hours. The representative on the phone confirmed that there was no policy preventing this but advised me to check directly with the location. Upon visiting the location, I spoke with an employee—a gentleman wearing glasses with a heavier build—who informed me that I could leave the truck overnight but needed to return before 8:30 AM to retrieve it. The following morning, I arrived at exactly 8:30 AM, and as I was approaching my truck, the same employee quickly moved another truck to block my vehicle, preventing me from leaving. When I entered the office and requested that he move the truck, he refused, stating that I had not arrived before 8:30 AM. I explained that there was ample space for him to adjust the vehicle and allow me to exit, but he was unwilling to cooperate. His actions appeared to be intentionally obstructive rather than accommodating, and his demeanor was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. I believe that customer service is at the core of U-Haul’s business, and this employee’s behavior does not align with the level of service your company should strive to provide. His apparent disregard for customer satisfaction and unwillingness to assist in a reasonable manner suggest that he may benefit from additional training or reassessment of his role. I hope that you will take this matter seriously and address this concern appropriately. Please let me know if any further details are needed. JESSIE SCheck in was extremely easy and staff was very polite. However, when returning the truck, there was not any employee to be located. Once I located him, he was extremely rude.
ELIZABETH AI rented a van at a per day rate. When I returned it, the agent told me that I was “late,” having returned two hours later than anticipated, saying he could charge me extra for that. If rentals are by the hour, it should be so stated; otherwise, returning equipment on the day agreed upon is not late. Getting grief from your agent after a nine-hour moving day, during which I climbed 66 flights of stairs and walked 4+ hours carrying boxes and furniture was a most unpleasant way to end the day.

U-Haul truly needs to reevaluate who they hire and keep on as the face of their company. U-Haul has received several complaints regarding this locations customer experience yet they fail to act upon it.

JOHN HSome employees in your Capitol Ave. branch can use a course in customer service. The rental trucks need to be check for basic things like window hanble (which keet coming off), broken sun visor holder ect.

When I got to my location to move furniture, I was suprise to see the trailer was rusted, there was so much gravel, nails, wood chips and broken glass in the trailer. I will always from now on get out and look at the trailer from now on. I'm very dissapointed.

We have different names and different phone numbers. I don't know how that happened. Plus you keep texting me about not being able to debit my account for storage. I don't have a storage with U-Haul. So why would you be trying to debit my account. No I wouldn't recommend this company to family or friends.

When I arrived at the 40 Brainard Road location, I was told that the unit was unavailable and it could be days before a dumpster was available to clean it out. I had a truck with me at the time and movers in the vehicle waiting to offload. I had to go with Extra Space storage instead.

Tadae L | Overall ExperienceI have had bad business dealings with U-Haul in 2018 of over charging me in late fees,and also the last time I gave my card number to pay my storage bill, a young lady CSR back in Jan 2022, someone try to charge two grub hub charges for $64 and change each and they try to do some shopping online for $189 and some change, the only reason I know it was from someone who worked at U-Haul because it was a new càrd and that CSR was the only one I gave that number to. So no I will not be recommending no one to rent storage space because they hire dishonest employees. It just so happens that I have security protection on the card and all three transaction were declined and a hold was placed on my card until I notified the bank.

Your staff do a great job making it clean but that recycling idea that you guys got have to go because it simply turned into the local dump. 95% of the things that the people left is straight up GARBAGE that can not be salvage. Fix this problem immediately. Your staff do a great job of keeping the place clean.
