Staff was rude and unprofessional
JEFFREY BWas terribly inconvenienced when, after loading our truck for our move, we had a dead battery. We were able to obtain roadside service who showed up and changed out the battery, however, the disruption in our planning inconvenienced three parties to the days plans.

THADDEUS VApparently my two unboxes were kept at different locations instead of together. Movers had to fetch each one at different locations. Two pieces of furniture were broken as pointed out by movers before removing the pieces from box. U boxes where scheduled to be delivered at wrong date and then rescheduled for correct date but separated. Confused client and movers.

Jack R | Overall ExperienceI had rented a truck and trailer in Kalispell MT and dropped it off in Albuquerque NM We dropped off the trailer 1st and the man who helped us then was great and friendly as we got my car off the trailer. When we returned the truck the guy ( different man) was friendly however he didn’t really check anything over. I have previously rented U-Hauls before I had someone check the truck out and refunded me for equipment I didn’t use This time I had to ask if I was going to get a refund for the furniture blankets I didn’t use. I was told i had to call the location in Kalispell to get them to take the charge off. When I called them they said I had to talk to the location in Albuquerque. I ended up having to call customer service and they put in a request for my refund. It might take up to 3 business days to find out if I even get a refund.

SHAUN CMidway through the drive from Albuquerque to Austin the check engine light went on, and remained on for the duration. At that point we were getting terrible MPG resulting in many more stops for gas and money spent.

MIGUEL BYou could use perhaps some clearer signage for when the renter is first leaving the parking lot. It was hard to know which way traffic was meant to go safely.
EMILYANNE ZI was extremely happy the facility and staff until I had a situation that required some kind of help, my car battery died, my phone died and my battery booster box was dead as well. It was cold outside, wind was blowing and me and my Little Yorkie were feeling it. I went to the office where a little man sat behind the counter with another gentleman from the shop standing next to him, I explained my situation and he said there was nothing they could do to help, not let me charge my phone for 1 min, not charge my battery box not even offer to give me a jump start, I was told to walk to Walmart. I sat frustrated, saw the little guy leave presses the outside intercom button a female employee answered I explained everything and was given the same answer no help walk to Walmart, I finally found a other customer there with his wife and baby asked him if he could give me a jump start, just had to run up to my unit to grab jumper cables, if not for these kind people me (over 50 yr old female) and my 11 year old Yorkie would've been left to freeze out there. I couldnt believe the lack of customer care from all these people, I moved my things out of the facility and prayed they would one day get what they give or didn't give. .. customer care, or even being human enough to care, something they would expect someone to do if their loved one was in the same situation.

WENDELL JI rent a box truck about every three months at the same location. The personal is always helpful and courteous. I highly recommend this location to family and friends.

JESUS HI ordered a 10x10 unit. I got 2 5x5 units with some moron thinking that's the same thing. All it meant was that the doors were too narrow to get my items in from the narrow hallway. This not made clear to me until the day before move in and therefore I was forced to get a 10x15 at a $70 monthly increase as well as pay my moving help additional funds as they say around waiting for things to get worked out.
Jeff O | Online Move InTruck literally says $19.95 a day. Including 100 miles. I had the truck for 2 days and somehow ended up paying over $200. Apparently despite what was advertised and sold i ended up getting charged $89 a day!! Over 4x the advertised price! The truck wasn't even clean and fuel was lower than what they said. Just over 1/8 th difference but still that's no way to do business. The word fraud comes to mind.... Definitely wouldn't recommend uhaul after this...

DAVID MThe shelving by where the reps sit is very tall, and you can't see the workers. It feels a bit uninviting, and makes walking up to the desk feel like your lost, because you see them from the front door, but when you're closer to the desk, they disappear behind the tape and locks. If the shelving wasn't so tall , you could see them the entire time. Just a thought I've always had since I've been going there. The people are great, facility is great, just wanted to pass that along. Thanks u haul!

I was not placed on auto pay with the credit card I provided and that turned out to be a big inconvenience. I got payment letters in the mail and had to call the national U-Haul customer service phone number to resolve the issue because I was not in Albuquerque. I was not told I had to swipe in two separate areas to gain access. I had to stand in line again and was trying to make a flight. The customer service reps in Albuquerque seemed very unhelpful like they did not care. They were not focused on the customer and providing good customer service.

katesigwa s | Overall ExperienceOriginal booking was not what I wanted as I was given climate control instead of outside, the clerk got my name and street address wrong, in changing said reservation, i was told i would get a refund for one month. The refund came as an invalid check the first time, and then came expired the next. I just gave up on that. Original clerk was a moron but payment was easy online, my stuff was secure and check out was fairly painless. My complaint is with check in and the online reservation not being honored. Other than that, it's a decent enough facility

Marlon R | Overall ExperienceIt was extremely disappointing to have reserved, confirmed and checked-in online only to arrive to the storage facility with a loaded truck to find out that not only could the asst mgr not find my reservation, she tried to charge me when the reservation details were on her computer screen, and seemed to find joy in giving me a hard time, saying she would not rent to me and I could go somewhere else. She lacked empathy and ended a very long and challenging move with a very bad customer service experience. I had to call the General Manager, who was out of state, to resolve issues that never should have happened in the first place. I returned the truck with half a tank of gas, just as it was rented to me and stated on my contract, yet the other female representative, Amanda, said she was charging me an additional $30 for gas and said that she would just charge the credit card on file. I felt taken advantage of and am just so deflated with this whole experience. I’ve been a long-standing customer with Life Storage and thought all storage companies had similar standards. I appreciate your time.

There was no way I could pay the bill and my business tools were auctioned of for for couple hundred dollars. I lost 20 thousand in tools and equipment. This business charges to much and will not care when you can not pay the bill. I caution anyone who rents with you. Oh and I did explain my situation and they could care less.

My unit lock was vandalized after being a renter for almost 2 years I had to hire a locksmith for $120 to remove my lock from the unit and then of course purchase a new lock. The agents seemed completely disinterested and actually referred me to a locksmith that charges $160. Either way I was and am so disappointed that I moved my storage to a company that has a security gate and they assured me that if something like this should happen at their property they would remove the lock for me at no charge. Honestly I would not have moved had I felt like anyone cared for me as a customer. Over the 2 year relationship I did have some pleasant interactions but this one was more than I was willing to continue the relationship. Thanks!

Wayne W | Overall ExperienceHello, I rent a 5x5 storage unit on the second floor at the following Uhaul business: 1801 Atrisco Dr NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120 ( Behind the Walmart Supercenter on Coors and I40) The elevator has been out for a couple of weeks. They are requiring tenants to haul their belongings up and down the stairs. I keep some furniture that is significantly heavy in my storage. I have physical disabilities that prevent me from lifting heavy items up the stairs. Also the accomodations make it very likely that my things would suffer damages having to be moved in such a manner. Today I went into the office and asked to temporarily use another unit on the ground floor. I spoke to John he was working alone and the manager/owner was not there so I would have to wait til the morning to speak to him. John said all his ground floor units were renting and no refund or credit would be offered. He stated that the elevator was a convenience and not a guaranteed amenity. He said that he had a unit outside and that he would have to charge me the listed price, $75 a month. I am seeking compensation for the month since I have not had full access to the unit. I am seeking compensation and reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

janice m | First ImpressionsI went on the 14th to get my stuff out because that was the day I had to get all my stuff out or I would be charged I was stopped by an employee stating that I couldn't go to my storage because that they we're cleaning the floors out on the storage and that they can't let me in and that he gave me his word that they wouldn't charge me that I have to go in the next morning. So I did that and I checked my bank account and they still charged me the full amount I called and talked with that same employee and he said I'll let you talk to my manager. I let him know about what happened and he said that he wasn't going to fix it that he was going to charge me the full amount they couldn't even atleast prorate me for one day.

The donation area is a nice idea, but people started dumping trash there. The staff was friendly. Early on, if there was a problem with my payment, they would contact me. They don’t do that now. Which leads to another issue. There seems to be an issue with the online system for address changes and automatic payments.

I was contacted by u-haul site staff in regards to vandalism and possible water damage to my unit on Sunday morning October 9th. Upon arrival to my unit on Sunday I noticed a damp odor in my unit. I then proceeded to the front office to rent a truck to remove the items from my unit. The customer service associate was extremely rude and made it difficult for me to rent a truck. He refused to accept my banking card for payment and when I told him that I had rented a storage unit elsewhere he became angry and refused to rent me a truck altogether. I then asked for a manager and he told me to call the phone number listed on the front door. I told him that I would contact his supervisor and he became threatened and very rude. I was then forced to use my personal vehicle for removal of my personal items and have since moved out. I have yet to hear back from the supervisor or the site President. This was the worst rental experience ever and I didn’t appreciate being treated disrespectfully especially when I was a victim of the water damage issue created by vandalism of individuals who you allowed into the secure area of the property. U-haul should have tried to accommodate those affected by this issue but instead your customer service representative caught an attitude! I would never recommend uhaul to anyone!

She said it was in process but reach out to manager to see about a prorate. Received an email a few days later saying unit was canceled. Finally was able to be transferred to manager, he said it was canceled, no prorate and can no longer use it though it was paid for the month. No attempt to make it right at all. We always use U-haul for storage and trucks but will no longer. All I asked for is what's fair since the CSR misunderstood and canceled my unit.

After a 13 hour drive and lots of other choices I could have made had I been told this upfront, I decided to pay your fee and when I went up to the storage, there was a lock already on it. When we got to the unit, it was locked and we had to go back in again. Then the alarm was disarmed 3 times and still went off. This cut valuable time into our Uhaul truck we had rented through a different location closer to where we were moving because they were out of available storage units.

The associate was super friendly, fast and totally helpful. My second visit to upgrade went very well (associate helpful) but the second unit that I was upgrading to had floors that were dusty/dirty and riddled with rat/mouse poop. Also the floors by the lighting fixtures (corners) had a lot of dead insects. Also there are not enough carts available.

The place where I actually had to drop my Uhaul at did not have any storage space, so I came across 1801 Atrisco Dr and I meet Joseph!!! He is wonderful!!! First he was so welcoming to us being newbies here in Albuquerque. And he was even able to let us check our truck in at this location. When he showed us our storage space he was very thorough. He also gave the customers in front of us that same treatment so I know he does it with everyone. The next day he was even more helpful along with his coworker Isiah. Joseph needs employee of the money and a bonus. He is top notch and our family really appreciated him.

Bree o | Overall ExperienceLast time I used uhaul was July 2020 had no problems renting a truck with my DX card issued to my by the federal govt for my retirement benefits to be monthly deposited . I thought all locations were managed within the same boundaries ; however I have learned this is not the case. When I went online to reserve a truck I used the same process I used the last time I used uhaul got the same prompts saying that I couldn't use my DX card to rent the van but I was able to rent a small truck with my DX card. This time I reserved the truck ,went on the day of pickup and without running my card my form of payment was denied . So for the first time in over 30 years I left without getting the truck . When I got home I called my Son's widow my failure to getting the truck because of their "NEW" rental requirements she had to call a friend to pick her up to bring her to U-Haul to pay for the rental . The bottom line is this uhaul should have plainly stated all the requirements needed to rent U-Haul equipment on the U-Haul home page and not have a runaround !!! I had no problem reserving the truck with my DXCard but it was denied as payment . What kind of run-around is that.
Stephen L | First ImpressionsWe arrived at the storage facility a few minutes before 9 am as we had scheduled movers to come at 9 to help us move the contents of an apartment. We were not able to enter with our access card. There was another man who had been waiting there since 7 am also, unable to enter. When that man saw an employee, he asked to let him in. The employee yelled back from the parking lot " just swipe your card" when the man responded that he had, the employee said "you probably didn't pay". At that point I said,"I can't get in either", to which he yelled "did you pay?' I said yes, to which he said sorry I have to move these trucks, you're just going to have to wait. When my movers arrived, I again implored him to open the facility, since the movers were paid by the minute. The employee then did open the main door, and said if you open your unit it's going to alarm, and I can't deal with it until later. We moved out our things, and when we were getting close to the end, I went to the front office and joined a long line of customers, and when I arrived at the service counter, I asked to close the account. The same employee asked if I was finished moving everything, and when I responded we are almost done, He said you can't close it until you are completely finished. I asked "would I have to wait in line again while my movers stand by waiting?" He said, yes. The fact that your storage facility is supposed to open at 5 am according to the sign, but didn't open until after 9am, and the rude unhelpful behavior of the staff is why I'm giving a poor rating.

I called Erik, the general manager, and was very disappointed with his customer service. He denied helping all of us get access and said that we could come back tomorrow if we wanted. Some people had to leave because they had to return their rental trucks. We were outside of the building for about 2 hours calling customer service and trying to figure everything out until the manager finally decided to show up and open a door for everyone. We had to fit our very large furniture through a normal sized door... It was a complete nightmare. I am never using your services again and will make sure to let everyone else know as well.

Bobby L | First ImpressionsWe secured the rental online. When we got there the unit number wasn’t working with the alarm system. We Ended up having to go into the office and get assigned a new unit. The large double sliding doors do not work with our code only the single door, which makes it difficult to use any type of moving device such as a dolly, or cart or mover anything large through the single door. The 3 day we went to the rental there was a tag in the unit which said we were denied access due to non payment. Obviously that wasn’t correct as we had just secured the unit with a full months payment 3 days before. Again Had to go to the office to gain access to our unit. Only then we’re we told that we had to use the provided lock, not a personal lock which we had placed in the unit. The security seems good, but hoping we have no more problems and it would be nice if the double sliding doors would open with our code.

His name is Jonathan Sediillo, from the I40 and Coors location. I am unsure if he had a bad day, but he was rude, impatient, and condensending. He definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Jonathan went as far as walking us through the on-line move in process when our signal made the system glitch. We can't express enough how grateful we are!

I didn’t understand if I was supposed to follow him or not, norbabout the alarm and had to kind of figure out the process on my own. Been a really long time since I had used a self storage and would have appreciated a little extra courtesy. Otherwise, I would rate average. Is very clean and appreciated access to carts at entrance to building.

Michael L | Overall ExperienceI do find it a bit conflict of interest that you are required to buy a Uhaul lock (though it is nicely discounted). If you.use another lock, they will lock you put of your unit until you buy thier lock. On my case I had recently become homeless (it's better now), and I was surviving selling items from my unit. I could not afford thier lock, and they caused me to lose sales. They were unsympathetic, even with other people arguing for me. Crappy policy. Oh and if u lose they keys to.thier lock whichl they force you to buy, they can't help you. Call locksmith at your own cost. Aside from that one thing, we s home site., security and staff.
