Benton harbor uhaul was great. Location in ny is arguing trailer was fit and fine and refusing refund.

VICKI VI did a return after hours, and it was extremely unclear on how to do so. The app kept freezing, so I had to use the website. The main issue though was that the lot was so full I literally couldn’t tow the trailer to anywhere to leave it. I had to unhitch the trailer where I could drive and then drag the 12 foot trailer by hand 20 feet to wedge it between some trucks so I wouldn’t block the only path available to drive on. I hurt my back, and it really was a pain to return it. I wish whoever needs to get it back out of there the best of luck because it won’t be easy.

CORNELIA MEquipment was fine. My issue is with the staff. I was unable to make it for my drop off and contacted them. And was told I would get 1 day for free. I actually asked what the drop off at a different location would be and she said she would just give me 1 day for no charge. I never asked but really appreciated it. Cause money is tight but when I dropped it off today without being told anything I was upcharged. Very unprofessional. I would have paid if told I needed too. But it's being told I don't then being charged anyway. My call was April 13 at 4:01p.m. and lasted over 7 minutes so if you record the Halloween the message at the beginning says you can find the conversation.
JEFFERY TThere was water in the door. But it looks like it came from someone leaving a window open when it rained. The window was closed when I looked inside. They must not have noticed the water. But someone from inside U-Haul was quick to come out and help clean up the water Before I left. I would definitely recommend this location.
MICHELLE LWhen I called the 800 number after dropping off the trailer Sunday, they tried telling me I couldn’t drop it off at the Ypsi location. This is after telling the Benton Harbor store on Saturday that this is where I was dropping it off.. Other than that, Everything was fine..

Carinne CWhen a 10 amp harness fuse is blown don’t replace it with a 15 amp which blows the system, starts a fire and causes a $429 repair. I’ve learned a fuse blows for a reason & NOT to continue, but STOP!!!!!
LINDA DI told the attendant the original fuel level was wrong and showed him a time stamped picture of the fuel level when I picked the truck up which showed 163 miles in the tank and that the tank had 176 miles of fuel when I dropped it off. He said not to worry about being charged for fuel BUT later I received a receipt charging me $12.60 for fuel.

JORGE SThe young lady at the counter was very helpful and friendly. I have rented here before and the people behind the counter are always very good. The check in was quick and I was on my way down the road and the drop off was even quicker and easier. They are doing a great job.

STEVEN FI had to run all the way back home to get my cell phone!!! It’s rediculous that your “policies” require a person to use their own private cell phone to process your paperwork and contract. I had form of payment, drivers license. It’s was very irritating
GREGORY AThe truck I rented would not drive straight. I had to struggle to stay on the road and it was snowing. I went back in to ask if it had a front end alignment, and the guy says “well the last person didn’t complain”. For the price I paid the truck should be kept in better condition.

AMY AI reserved a trailer and 2-wheel hand cart for a 20ft box truck. When I arrived, the trailer was not hooked up to the truck and ready to go as I was told it would be. Also, there was no 2-wheel cart provided. Guess that is what I get for not checking.

ALFRED DWhen I picked up the truck I had reserved it was filthy inside and out. The clerk happened to walk out and I asked for a different truck because the one he gave my was dirty. He said I could wait and they would clean it. I did not have time as I had people waiting for me. As I was leaving I noticed many of the same trucks on the lot that were clean. I have rented trucks here many times and have never had this experience. I will not be back.

ANGELA JWe have used this location on multiple occasions, but this was our last. When we went to pick up the moving truck and the reserved equipment, the appliance dolly did not have straps so they didn't even offer the dolly to us, but instead brought out the smaller dolly. We had made a reservation 4 days in advance. We had told the girl that it was reserved and her response was, "well you can reserve it, but it doesn't mean we have it". Ok, well then why didn't someone notify me so we could have made other arrangements. Of course, we were upset and that pretty much set the tone for the whole experience. Very unfriendly and unapologetic for not having what we reserved. Basically, it was 'that's not my problem, but yours' kind of attitude. Fortunately, we have other moving rental options in our area and will be using those from now on.

TYLER NFix these problems: The driver's side door had to be slammed to get it to close. The check engine light was on the whole time, but was told by staff that it wasn't a problem.

Erik H | Overall ExperienceI would have rated this UHaul facility higher, however, things have been going downhill since we first rented a unit over a year ago. The card reader in the back of the building by the ramp wouldn't work and I was given excuses as to why that was. Because it wouldn't work I had to go around to the front of the building and use that card reader. Also the flat cart went missing in the building making it difficult to transport heavier/bigger pieces. The facility was clean, but not well maintained as mentioned previously. The door by the ramp also was difficult to get open from the outside and we had to use force from the inside to get it opened. A lot of the times, both doors would also be left opened and not shut properly.

The previous night I spoke with a customer service representative by phone in the U-Haul call center and in speaking with him I requested if I could extend my truck return time at no charge and he assured me that that would not be a problem. he offered to extend my time to 5 PM with no charge. I clarified with him that there would be no charge and he assured me it was a courtesy and there would be no charge. When I arrived at the store apparently that conversation with the call center had not been noted on my account and the system charge me $54 for the time extension Eric was very helpful and courteous and rectifying the problem for me and helping me to choose a storage unit that suited my needs. He was also helpful and getting the truck maneuvered to where I could unload easily. Eric is a very helpful courteous and respectful customer service representative. Thank you Eric!
