B-KIRK AThis was a last minute effort to rent a pick up truck as mine was not available. Also, to work with U-Haul, the company I remember using to move out of my home and to university for the first time in my life. The same for my second degree. Disappointing. I was not informed on rates when I called, the night prior, by Sijo, other than the daily rate, no kilometre charge. Upon arrival I was met by Steve Smithers the general manager. 7:00AM. Condescending, arrogant, spoke down to me regarding parts of a hitch. Like I was a child rather than a paying customer. Made me feel uncomfortable, asked me to accept insurance like it was mandatory, and when the estimated fees appeared at the merchant terminal I was shocked. 300km estimate, $471. This company is not competitive with Enterprise I came to find. Regarding rates and customer service. I remained polite in the face of this reprehensible manager who had no consideration for my professionalism. The truck was shoved in a corner, difficult to access, was told to go find it, and upon opening was dirty, and full of dog hair. I attempted to clean the vehicle to make it more appropriate. Disgusting. Was told gas was at 11/16. It was barely at that mark yet I was to return it with fuel at that level. The fuel gauge in the truck also appears faulty. I will explain this as I escalate this complaint. Service from manager, dishonesty, unclean vehicle, simply a deplorable representation on behalf of UHaul. Shocked by the experience, I parked the truck in my driveway, left it there until the next morning, and drove it back. Being a customer of UHaul cost me $261, plus $50 in fuel, for a vehicle I did not use. Dishonesty, sickening customer service, non competitive pricing. GUI RI do the exact same route every single month when I rent the truck for a food bank (51-53 km, give or take 2 km) and I was charge 12 km more than usual (64 km ???) in March. Revise your numbers please. We are a non-profit organization where every penny counts and we can't afford to throw money away or be cheated. Thanks for looking into this.
J LSteven Smith who manages this U-Haul location was extremely rude and threatening. Refused to take partial payment that day and said he didn't have to accept partial payments and would sell my belongings if I didn't pay in full that moment and was very threatening about it. So I just made whole payment to avoid his threats. Stay away from this location if you are a woman. Very scary and unprofessional. I have never experienced such verbal abuse from a U-Haul employee before. Guess it's his opportunity to bully women ?Certainly not a way to handle a late payment.! Furthermore it was not a safe place as my helper hurt herself on sharp projecting metal randomly leaning against a wall.

MURRAY JI had a very disappointing experience with U-Haul that I feel needs to be shared. When we arrived to pick up our truck, we found that the vehicle was not properly prepared. The snow was not cleared off the truck, making it unsafe and inconvenient for us. To make matters worse, the windshield fluid was completely empty, which could have been dangerous while driving. When we approached the associate for help, he was not at all helpful. Instead of assisting us in person, he simply told us to handle everything online. We politely asked if he could show us how to resolve the issues on-site, but he refused and insisted we take care of it ourselves online. This lack of customer service was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. For a company that prides itself on reliability, this experience was far from that. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone based on the poor service we received.

ALEXANDER MOverall it was a positive experience, mainly thanks to staff on hand that morning. I tried using the UHaul App but it turned out to be too cumbersome and I was not comfortable scanning my drivers license and taking a photo of myself while standing in the foyer - the layout was awkward in the app and too many steps - I don't recommend it - in the end I sat down and went through the registration process with staff and it went well - he cleaned up the van from the snow and then I took pictures of the dash, odometer, the fuel gauge - I was told to return the van with the same level of gas in the tank which I did and staff gave me a thumbs up. The UHaul location is close to me as well as the gas station both near the Queensway here in Ottawa. Overall good experience.

DAVID LI rented the truck at least 3 weeks in advance, and because of the need I had to request 2 dolly furniture and some pads, I arrived at the place at the reserved time and due to errors on the page I could not advance and check in, we tried on the app, website and with different devices, it took me 30 minutes to check in, and to make matters worse when we opened the trunk what we had requested was not there, luckily the office was open and we went in to ask a worker, it wasnt matter the reservation we had made in advance and he told us there were no dollies, we had to leave the place very upset and our move was terrible, late and with back pain that will take me weeks to recover, I find it unacceptable that reservations are not respected, if you know you are not going to have them, do not offer them or at least notify in advance so that on our own we can rent some where they do care about customer service.

ANTONIO SMy reservation was originally for another location (Dumaurier). When I got there, the truck was not there. I called U-Haul, and they told me the truck should be there. They didn’t have a solution for getting me a truck on the same day; I was put on hold forever. My family member got in touch with Steve at Queensview, and he found me a truck. Overall, my U-haul was awful and stressful, but Steve at Queensview pulled through and saved the move.
CORINNE WI'm sure it was just a fluke, but, the engine light came on before I returned the truck. It was clean and it is a good location, but, not the most convenient for me, (I got bumped from my preferred location.). Also, during the winter months, it would be good to have a snow brush/scraper in the trucks.
JEFFREY PI had several issues trying to book online, trying to get the corrent equipment at the correct location. I ended up having to go to a farther location because the equipment was not at the location I wanted even though it was available online. There was garbage in the back of the truck. The app didn't work properly. I spent almost a half hour trying to get my license in and it just kept saying it wasn't entered. Trying to take pictures of the license plate and exterior of the truck wouldn't work. There was an error message for the license plate and it kept blanking out all the pictures when I tried to proceed. The "easy" check-in took over 1/2 an hour and I never completed it properly. The check engine light was on. The guy just told me thats OK. He could have informed me that ahead of time so I didn't have to go back in and tell him. The windsheild was snowy and icy. I asked for a scraper and was informed to just let the vehicle run until it melted. I ended up going to my car to get my scraper. The gas tank was not full and the guy there just said oh, "I'll mark it as 7/8th full and return it that way". The problem is its very hard to estimate 7/8th of a tank and I ended up filling it, so it cost me more in gas than it should have. If you are looking for repeat business this is a bad way to go about it. Fortunately for you there are not alot of other options. Next time I will probably hire movers. It's worth the extra few hundred so that I don't have to deal with this.
KEVIN JAll equipment worked perfectly, but did not feel welcomed or respected. The gentlemen that helped us pointed out we were late (but due to traffic and personal reasons, I could not make it on time, ~ 15 min late), blamed my credit card chip was broken when the credit card machine wouldn't accept payment, and I felt very disrespected when he talked "down" to us. I asked to clarify about the truck rental and he did not change his wording. Felt slightly discriminated too.

ANTONY LMy only issue is that it was very difficult to get a monthly invoice from UHaul, even though I my card was automatically billed every month. I asked that I receive the monthly billing every month ( this only happened 2 or 3 times!

The entire truck rental was was awful as we were told only 10 minutes before pickup that our 15 foot truck was not available at 1515 Merival Road. We were redirected to Coventry location at last minute without remote /after hours instruction but advised that we’d receive a truck at same or lower price than quoted for 15 foot truck. We called customer service who tried to contact the new location, however the agent simply stated that no one was answering the phone and was unable to assist us with a closer pickup location or to confirm the size of the truck. However, no one at Coventry location answered the phone at 6:50 pm and the agent simply said she couldn’t help us. We arrived at Coventry uhaul for our truck at 7:08 pm. They were closed but let me in. However they didn’t have record of the reservation, even though I had several messages to verify we’d reserved a 15 foot truck from Merivale location. (Please note that our initial rental was organized and confirmed for west end Ottawa and we had to travel to east end Ottawa at last minute). This resulted in me (petite woman) having to drive a 26 foot truck on hwy 417 (Queensway) without any instructions. I was literally thrown a vehicle key and told to charge to my MasterCard. The staff knew nothing of a complementary one month storage unit. Hence we did not pick up/obtain access to storage unit (as promised). Please have our storage rental cancelled asap and please share our truck rental experience with the appropriate personnel asap. I believe I was mistreated, misled and erroneously charged for a larger truck rental. I received no compensation or apology for my inconveniences, extra travel, stress etc, and I would like a representative to reach out to me directly. I trust this will be resolved asap. Thank you!

The unit that was assigned for me was dirty and then I was called after hours by the manager (S.S) who was very rude and unprofessional over the phone, accusing me of wrongdoing in securing a promotion that is widely marketed by U-Haul....I tried making contact multiple times the next day and they wouldn't take my call. I promptly moved out and chose to do business with another company instead. I certainly won't be choosing any services from this location in the future.

In an attempt to save money I moved out during a heat wave. I paid $200.04 (tax incl.) for storage space from June 30 to July 6 leaving 24 days of unused time for which I was not refunded. I will likely recommend this facility to people in the future as it is safe and secure however that recommendation will come with caveats and the story of my experience... fair warning... buyer beware

I am extremely pleased with the service she offered me. From the very first day she helped me with the truck rental and then assisted me with finding a suitable storage locker that would hold my belongings. A month later when I need another unit, she was there to help again! Finally, over the course of the year she was accommodating and friendly in-person, over the phone as well as via email. We moved out of storage over the long-weekend in April and were please with the convenient hours and access into our units. I absolutely recommend this location for a great experience and service.

I received a $0 dollar bill that I called about and was told I had the rest of the month to pay and then received another notice I was over due and additional charges were being added. I then called the manager at the storage facility who told me the right info and reimbursed the late fee as I paid right away. Then my friend tells me he received a bill for the supposed outstanding fee at least 10 days after I had paid it. This irked me to no end that my friend would be bothered by this.I vowed to remove my stuff and to never deal with uhaul again. A similar thing happened when I rented a truck from you. I was told I could pick up my truck, dollies and moving blankets at one location only to be told they didn't have dollies or blankets and I was expected to go to the other end of the city to pick those up. I still can't believe that this helter skelter approach is your business model and that your help line doesn't seem to know what it is talking about. The actual truck was in very good shape and drove well. The storage facility was easy to access and the staff were great. It just seems that the corporate side of things didn't have the right information. As a first time renter I found this very frustrating.
