The facility and equipment is always clean and well maintained. Today I spoke with the General Manager about an issue I had with the Clifton Park location and he assured me that he would take care of everything for me and he did in a timely manner.

I tried to explain that my daughter was trying to scrape off the side mirror when the mirror cracked and a piece of glass fell out. We were having an ice storm at the time. All he wanted was to charge my credit card. I shouldn't be charged for this period.
MANDI DIt took entirely too long for the transaction to happen. The person out front couldn’t help me. I had to wait for the person that was supposedly busy outback however, I was the only customer in the building. It should never take this long to simply get a trailer.

PAUL HUhaul in SUNY Canton was AMAZING! They even double checked that I’d towed a large trailer before and offered tips just in case. They hooked everything up for me and checked my lights. The store was clean and well maintained and the 2 staff members so polite and kind.
CRYSTAL CThe workers were polite, but the truck had some issues. I don't think they are the fault of the workers. Someone smoked in the truck at some point, so there was a faint smell of cigarettes. The passenger seat belt buckle wouldn't latch. One of the workers came out to fix it and sprayed PB blaster in the socket and on the buckle. That didn't fix the issue, so she used a screwdriver to move things around in the socket. It worked fine after that, but the truck reeked of PB blaster for the entire 22 hours of driving. The back door of the truck is rusting. I think it just needs to be retired.

The Unix options to deliver to another U-Haul and then store for a bit and be able to access it was amazing. I’ve dealt with the canton location a number of times and the staff there are above and beyond. A Note to U-Haul I noticed that my u box was wood and others were metal and looked more weather proofed. If possible adding in that choice between the two types of boxes on the app when renting would be helpful
Sara PMatt is great to work with. When the national reservation office called to tell me my scheduled pick up was cancelled and I would need to travel 70 miles to get another unit, Matt figured out a way to get me on the road in 20 minutes.
KEITH RThere was an error with my reservation in that i picked the trailer up early. I called customer service and they told me they adjusted the return date for me and that I was all set. I received calls from the Canton (drop off) location, and the man was rude. He said well this trailer has been rented by 13 other people and we need it back today. I tried to explain what happened and that customer service was aware and made the adjustment for me. He did not care, and I told him the trailer was enroute from NC to NY and it would be there the following day there was nothing that could be done. He said ok it better be here by 0930 and then we ended the call. I am glad I dont have to do business with this location as I would switch companies if so.

I found quite a bit of mouse feces in my unit when I cleaned it out, luckily I had mostly everything in plastic totes and nothing was ruined. Staff was decent to work with, when you could find someone. Could be more inviting. Glad I was finally able to rid of this bill.

He's very unprofessional. I will never ever use that location again.

Josh AThe U-Haul in Canton, NY was very helpful. Had to move items and thought the 5'x8' long trailer would be enough. When loading the trailer it became apparent that the small trailer would not do. Called U-Haul in Canton and requested a trade for a larger trailer. Good fortune! As they had one 6'x12' long trailer avialable. The trade was seemless on their end. My only hard time was that I am 30 miles to Canton and had to make the round trip there and back before packing. Made the trip and swapped trailers with zero difficulty. The folks at U-Haul in Canton were professional, courteous, and very helpful. Many Thanks to the team at U-Haul Canton!!!

WADE SIt’s tough to say how I want to review my experience today. We booked it very last minute (about an hour before pick up) which was super convenient that there was a truck available. We tried to get one from a closer location but they were not open today (a Sunday). So for starters, glad they were! Definitely is a plus! Had to help my mom move some furniture. Pros: location was open on a Sunday Had the truck I needed Was able to book it last minute Cons: the truck was disgusting. The cab looked uncleaned and had sticky stuff all over. Like spilled soda or something. Cab also smelt like cigarettes really bad. -had to go inside to get the key to the truck instead of it being left inside like past rentals I’ve had. An associate met us who went to the back to tell another employee we were there. We stood at the counter 10+ minutes waiting for the gentleman to come out to give us the key. -The app is just terrible. Check in is slow as heck. Pictures take forever to load up. Can only upload one to show condition at pick up when I could have sent many. Overall, it was okay I guess and if I was stuck again and needed one last minute and they were only option, I’d rent there again. However, I would check elsewhere first.

JANNAH NInitially contacted about August floods in Canton. Was told that I would be contacted after insurance company and headquarters representitive cut unit locks to access damage. I was never contacted and when we showed up to move stuff out of storage for the start of the SLU school year, the units had not been opened. We have damaged items. We were told that we would be receiving claim forms via email. We never received them. All in all, this has been an horrible experience that UHaul is not working to resolve.

Two mattresses were significantly stained and were disposed of. My leather couch and one chair was also damaged by by the water leak. The couch and chair were higher end furnishings and were in like new condition when placed into storage. Manager explained to me that I had no insurance so Uhaul would not cover same. Seems odd to me that I would need to buy insurance for Uhaul's building issue.

I would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for safe and clean storage!

The folks are invariably courteous, friendly and well-informed. The facility is very clean and well-maintained and everyone seems eager to help with any inquiry or situation. I have been a self-storage customer at this facility for the past six years or so having moved from another facility in the area for the indoor, climate-controlled feature even though it's a bit farther from my home. Very pleased with this facility in Canton NY and with the folks who work there.

Also some rodent pee, chewed bits and a chewed cable of one of my electronics, what was a nest of some kind the vermin tried to make, and more droppings, in some of my boxes and bags. According to what I can remember one of the staff telling me, some college kids (who must have been complete idiots) were renting a unit and had brought food into their unit. Even though they were explicitly told not to, they went and did it anyway. Which, in turn, caused this problem. While the storage facility is secure, it apparently is not secure enough against vermin and idiots. It seems the staff tried to do what they could to be helpful and just gave me some kind of customer service number for my trouble. What, no refund or something? Gee thanks. If I were to ever rent from U-Haul again, their facilities would have to be ABSOLUTELY vermin-proof. (Couldn't hurt to maybe make them idiot-proof too.)

A very polite and courteous U-haul attendant came by and offered us to wait in air conditioned store with access to bathroom and cold water to save us having to wait in our truck and avoid using gas to keep our AC on. He highlighted security camera safety measures U-haul has which made us feel safe. Very, very thoughtful gesture that was greatly appreciated. We've used this Canton NY U-haul store and continue to be impressed by the service this location consistently provides. THANK YOU - GREAT JOB!

I was traveling west. Not impressed with that experience. CANTON New York u-haul experience was of care, courtesy and professionalism. Manager understood our frustration, waived extra mile fee (that Ottawa wouldn’t do when we asked) and he genuinely wanted to correct a wrong. Very impressive. Summary: Ottawa Canada experience = 1 star Canton NY = 5 stars
