The printing on the contract is very small and difficult to read. The people were very nice and the time needed to check in and out was quick.
JOHN JClean the equipment and make sure trainees (read: new or inexperienced) actually know what they are doing before setting them loose on a customer. This was my 3rd trailer rental in my current move, other two went fine. I set up the rental using the app, which went fine, but when I arrived to pick up, the person at the counter tried to tell me it would be ~$100.00 more. Once that got straightened out she goofed-up the computer, and her co-worker couldn't correct the issue; a manager had to be called to fix it. In the process I lost my preferred drop-off uhaul (Escanaba, MI) and had to drop at a contractor instead (Agawa Rentals, Manistique, MI).

We walked around parking area for about 25 min looking at all trucks and found ours which we had to enter from passenger side as it was parked so close to others door would not open.

Michael K | Overall ExperienceThis process started out simple. We made the reservation for the time and day we wanted. But our mistake was picking the mobile check out instead of in the building. We were supposed to pick up the vehicle at 11, but ended up not leaving the u haul center until 12. It took them 20 minutes to just call the reference number they make you provide. After waiting for that, we thought everything would finally be moving along. We found where our truck was parked in the lot, but unfortunately we still had to go inside to grab the keys. This took about 30 minutes. The was only one person in there running the place and he was helping out a customer already. So we had to wait. Once it was our turn, the person then makes a comment on how there was something wrong with the vehicle, but couldn't tell us what and it wasn't even supposed to be rented out. The mileage was also wrong in the system, so they had to go outside and take a picture of it. We finally think we have gotten through all the crap, only to get stuck in the snow before we even made it out of the parking lot. They also didn't clean the snow off the top of the truck, so it fell onto the windshield while we were driving. I also rented a utility dolly for 7 dollars and didn't get it with the truck. Lastly, the time it took them to check out the truck counted against our time. So we paid for 4 hours of moving time and only got 3.

AMY BPrevious customer (s) had not reported that the steering was 45 degrees off center and very likely need an alignment to prevent additional repair costs and tire imbalance. This could have easily been caught if corporate would provide enough gas allowance to allow staff to test drive each vehicle in order to decrease the dependency on customer reporting of issues.

JOHN OI had to put 100$ of gas before I ever got out of manistee as there was just a 8th of gas in the truck and it was about to run out.

Called and was told that I would need to download your app to return the trailer. When someone finally came out he was RUDE. He apparently was loading a trailer truck and I guess that's my fault? He bitched at me to do the return on the app. I don't want the app and I'm not your damn employee! Absolutely the worst customer service ever I returned it a day early at 9am.

GREGORY SThe manager, Jack Serio, canceled my reservation even though we had a phone conversation just a few days before that it would be a late pickup as driving 400 miles from Ohio. Good grief. Total jerk move. Thank goodness there was another truck available and the young man at the desk worked things out.
NANCY SBetter policies- I picked up the truck. No ice scraper to clear the ice covered windows. Had the truck for less than a hour and a half for a 24 hour rental, drove it for 37 miles from the paid for estimated 60 miles, didn’t use the appliance dolly or moving blankets and because the extremely bad weather I was unable to utilize the truck, not wanting to damage or get it stuck - returned it. No type of discount or refund. Very disappointing with the overall experience!

TREVOR JThe trailer I rented a 6ft X 12 Ft trailer with a ramp. The trailer ramp and back side of the trailer are not full sized for the trailer width. The ramp and back opening is only approximately only 56" (4ft-8inches) wide, which is pretty far from an advertised 72" width. I didn't find this out until I went to load a 60" wide 4 wheeler onto the trailer and it didn't fit. I ended dropping the u haul trailer at the dealership and borrowing one from them. It resulted in a 2 hour round trip to bring the dealer's borrowed trailer back and picking up and return the trailer to me. The dealer I rented from was very nice and the rental process was great. However the information online about sizing needs to improve and have warnings to avoid customers renting the wrong sized equipment.

The interaction took way too long. The staff at this location need more training….
JEFFREY WWork with the individual U-Haul location in person. Never use the U-Haul website or app! The website and app will only leave you looking elsewhere for equipment! Very disappointing!!!

GLENN JGeneral Manager was very kind and helpful. My only struggle was returning during after hours, and it was just a poor process with the UHaul App, not accepting the information and requiring me to restart the process. There should be a spot in the Return Process to indicate that payment was made at equipment pickup, or better yet it should know that I made the payment at equipment pickup.
Jamie WWhen you give back hours for truck rental, but keep monthly rental fees even 5 days into a month — that’s really a scam. I did contact the site and got a real smart Alec reply. Would not recommend to anyone.

The new facility in Manistee is amazing with all that it offers. The U-Haul Company has really done a great job with what was just a empty, vacant K-Mart Super store. I will definitely recommend this U-Haul facility to all my family and friends. Joe
Joseph JI didn’t like the fact that I had to rent storage on the same day that I was moving furniture into my rented storage. I would have preferred to have been able rent the unit prior to my moving day. Everything else, including the rental truck was good!

Kurt HJack Serio (Manistee General Manager) was amazing. He was resourceful and helpful with our storage situation. We stored a vehicle in the colder months, and came by to pick it up for the summer. We had a lockout issue and a battery issue, and Jack happily assisted us with both. What could have been a long day of us figuring out what to do, was made simple and efficient by Jack's participation. He went above and beyond to make our experience an enjoyable and memorable one as well. Thanks again!

I rented a truck for 3 days returned it 1 one paid for 2 days, and I rented a storeg unit and only used it for 11 days and they wouldn't give back eny money on eather. So it's wrong as they renet the truck right away was hurred to get un loaded so they could re rent it and the storeg united it was left clean and they rented it out the next day. So they're keeping money that's not there's it could be pro rated and refunded back to the person who rented it. So I feel they r scamming pepole out of money.its wrong a d someone could do somthing about it ?.?.?.??.?.......??????? I rented the storeg unit for the month not daily

mario g | First ImpressionsI called the number listed multiple times before reserving a unit but nobody ever answered and no voice mail ever picked up so that a message could be left. I reserved a unit online anyway as that seemed the only option. I was not given a unit number upon completion of credit card info, only told what to bring on "check in day". Called a few more times over the days between reserving and move in day, still no answer or vm option. The day prior to move in I got a text telling me it was move in day & if I downloaded and checked in on the app, I'd be given a free lock. I was not able to find how to do that. The next day- move in day, I went to the office to ask my questions. Worker was great though seemingly not informed. Owner/boss not there on weekends for more help. The unit size I ordered online wasn't known to employee as one that was an option at all, and the computer was about to charge me twenty dollars more a month than I'd agreed to online, although he did find it and made the necessary adjustments to accommodate the contract made online already. He knew nothing about a free lock offer but made it right by providing it regardless. He was amazing and helped me find the unit itself and asked me to come back during the week with my questions for the owner about potentially being double charged, etc. The facility was nice looking and I'm glad it's here despite the bumpy beginning we shared.
