Kevin S | Overall ExperienceWhile I don’t worry about text messages, emails and data rates, I received too many of them that I ended up missing the important points. Two examples - 1. On Sunday when I made the reservation, I received two emails and one text messages. One email titles Your U-Haul Order, gave me details on the reservation. The second, titled Your U-Haul Reservation, also gave me a link for details of my reservation, but added one key bit of information - I needed a vehicle pre-inspection before renting the trailer. Even though the pre-inspection requirement was highlighted and repeated, what I saw when I opened the email was the link to the rental details and quickly closed it. It was the next day as I was going through the emails again that I saw the pre-inspection requirement. This email would have been more effective if the title had said something like Towing Pre-Inspection Requirement or Before you rent inspection needed. Or you could have combined the two emails into 1 with a section titled Before you rent… 2. On Tuesday, there were 4 emails and 3 text messages generated from renting the trailer. First email was important information regarding the trailer. The next two emails (same time stamp) were links to the rental contract. The 4th email was legal requirements with the rental, with the email title in Spanish. I thought the title was interesting, but the legal requirements were even more interesting - stipulations on what you can or cannot legally do with the rental, including driving it to Mexico or using the rental for other than personal property moving, Quite honestly, this read to me as an email being directed to Spanish American citizens and could be construed as a culturally biased email. There were also 3 text messages on Tuesday, two asking if operators gave me the telephone support I needed and one telling me to inspect and document any damages prior to leaving with the rental. Again, I missed this text message, the information could have easily been added to the two emails with the rental links, which would have made it more effective - something like “1. here is a link to your rental agreement. 2. Before leaving U-Haul with your rented equipment, please inspect and document any damage to your rented equipment. Failure to do so may result in charges…” if I had seen that or if the renting agent had mentioned that to me, I would have documented the bent-up lift handle on the trailer. On area of slight annoyance. I reserved the trailer in my name. My neighbor was helping me and we were using his truck, which he was driving. When we rented the trailer, the agent scanned in his license, and all the paperwork ended up in his name, even though I paid for everything with my credit card. Why wasn’t everything in my name? Since I don’t worry about expense deductions there is no issue there, just bemused why it all ended in his name.

MICHAEL CNot until out on road and driving did I learn the Driver sided sun visor was missing its hold extender on the right side of the visor that would keep it craddled, visor was slightly dropped from it's rest and periodically upon turns or bumps on road it would swing and or drop lower periodically. Recommend that be a Uhaul employees inspection upon vehicle return include checking the sun visor to assure that next renter has this safety feature functioning. Otherwise a++ to your team.

GERARD HI reserved a 6 x 12 trailer to be picked up after 8 am to use for the day. I told the agent that I was not sure of pick up time because the order on my end did not yet give me a delivery time. I needed this trailer to make a delivery. She said for me to call her and update her and I told her I would not know my pick up time until it came but I needed the trailer for the day. I arrived at 2:00 pm to pick up my trailer and I was told that if I still wanted it, it had already been promised to another customer and I would have to have it back by 6pm. This agent rented my reserved trailer and then tells me at pick up that even though I was renting it for 24 hours I could only use it for 4 hours. She did not have another trailer that size for me. I asked for next size down which was 5 x 9. I took it assuming the interior usable space was 5 feet by 9 feet. The trailer was only 48" wide and my product did not fit without much extra effort and trips to get the job done. Get your act together!

JOEY NI called ahead on the day I was scheduled to pick up my U-Box and manager said she would call me back when U-Box was ready. After waiting a couple hours without a return call I drove to the North Nashua location. The manager apologized for not calling me back. My single U-Box was loaded on a double, not single trailer. I questioned the resulting excessive tongue weight and they said it was fine. I own and trailer several tandem axle trailers (2-horse, car hauling, snow mobile) and none of them trailered as badly as the double U-Haul with only 1 U-Box (when empty, and it was even worse after U-Box was loaded). Fortunately I had only a short trip and was able to return the U-Box without incident. When I asked the manager to confirm the cross country ship date from my reservation she said it would be best to return my U-Box ASAP instead of keeping it for the 4 days I had reserved it for. Status on U-Haul app did not match reality. Even after returning loaded U-Box to North Nashua it showed being with me. Texting U-Haul customer service was helpful...they checked, reported that North Nashua failed to update system, and called them for me to get it updated. U-Haul provided plenty of nice clean moving blankets and I bought some plastic wrap. Everything arrived undamaged.

It is often the right choice to RENT instead of BUY, including trailers. When I purchase a car, I think seriously about adding a trailer hitch. It makes it much more versatile.

The ultra clean bathroom is a very nice touch. Make sure you swipe your card correctly, the alarm works! 🤣

That wasn’t the issue because they were so kind and I’m very patient and understanding. It was when the woman Debbie came in. My father was just trying to explain things to her and she gave so much ignorant attitude but if it wasn’t for my dad I would have walked out. She would cut him off every second she could because she was training which she could have simply stated “ I apologize for the wait but I’m walking him through this if you could give me more time” would have sufficed. I work at a hospital and customer service is our number one priority. I’m sorry but I never complain but it felt like she was being prejudice towards my father for being Hispanic who also retired from Harvard university and earned a degree in his free time. I’m just really disappointed because my father should have never been cut off mid sentence as she did. Now I will sue the trainees had more customer service than she did and I believe they make more of an asset than she ever will. I think she should learn from them. Not only was it such a long process but to deal with an attitude such as that was not worth it. I will compliment on how clean it is and that one trainee I wish I remembered his name was an absolute sweetheart who showed me how to work the card and where my storage was. Please give praise to the trainees because they were amazing but Debbie needs more patience if she wants to work in customer service. It was kind of pathetic.

The bubble sealable bags on a roll have made life much easier! It is always a pleasure dealing with Deb. She is friendly and very efficient. The facility is clean.
