When we arrived we found the unit we had booked online was not going to be the right fit for us. Melissa was able to switch us to the a unit the better suited us with no issues. Excellent customer service.

My husband had 2 ticks on him when he helped put the trailer on. The trailer had 2 marker lights out. We told Melissa and she put it in the return notes so it could be addressed when we returned it. Other than that it was a quick and easy process! Thank you Melissa!

ROBERT WThe trailer evidentially leaked. As we proceeded in our travels we encountered rain, and ultimately crossed from the land of sun to the land of glum that it rained. It wasn't until we unloaded that we discovered clothing and everything was drenched. It is disappointing and costly to the consumer when these trailers are not checked (for instance while washing them) once in awhile for leaks by UHaul not any specific location. I get to do cleanup of our belongings and this does not sit well with the cleanup guy.

MICHELLE YI rented online during a promotion because I rented a van. We were never told the unit was portable or that it would EVER be moved, especially multiple times. We had to search the entire property at least 4 separate occasions to find the unit. We had extremely expensive and delicate property packed in, if we'd known it was going to be continously moved we would have packed it differently or honestly not rented it at all. The last couple times on the property it was inaccessible due to the vehicles being parked in front of them. I called the office after spending money to rent a truck and being unable to load it and was told if the office is open just ask. Well obviously! When I told them we weren't there during business hours I was told to give them advance notice of a specific time/day when we'd need access...uh, no. Never again. Will tell everyone to AVOID this place.

ALAN PThe lockbox would not open, and the location did not open for two hours after my scheduled appointment. I was told on the phone by a U-Haul representative to "bang on it" or I could pick up a different truck in a different city. I eventually got the box open, after 45 minutes to an hour, by hitting it with a hammer. I did not ask for any reimbursement for my delay. There was an unspecified reimbursement offered to me by the U-Haul representative. Whatever reimbursement had been considered; it was overruled by the representative in the store who told me that the delay was not that bad, even though I had movers standing by on an hourly rate. It was not a good experience.

JACK HOur drop off was delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. They reached out to us to see if we were okay and to confirm when we would be able to make it. They came outside as soon as we pulled up and explained the additional charges to us. (We were over for time and mileage.) The reservation process, pick up (different location) and drop off were easy and the truck was reliable. I would definitely recommend and do business with UHaul again. Side note, you will need your own padlock for the back if you want to secure it.

Richard AJenny R at the Ellsworth location stayed 30 minutes after her shift ended to help us check in when we retrieved the truck. The website wasn’t working, and she willingly unlocked the closed store just to make sure we were safe and that she checked us in herself. She was so nice and did not need to do that. We were so impressed.
Elizabeth HI reserved a 10’ truck several days in advance and when I got there I was forced to get a 15’ truck instead… with no indication that I got it for the 10’ price. I also ordered 5 large boxes and 8 medium boxes, which she didn’t have ready for me. I had to show her my receipt after being charged twice for the boxes.

I do not remember her name but she was incredibly friendly and helped me book the right storage unit for me. The next day we returned our truck and Melissa the GM was once again incredibly friendly. I had a million questions and she didn’t skip a beat. I am completely new to this area and have been feeling down and nervous about it. These two ladies made me feel super welcomed and confident in starting my new life.

This location took care of my needs for a safe space for my things while I was getting settled into my new location. Near the end of the time I needed the space I was very fortunate to have them looking after me because I locked the door open, instead of moving the locking mechanism correctly to locked. john c | First ImpressionsI had a self storage container on my property. For two years under the original owners of Self Storage Plus I never had an issue. When U-Haul bought the business, service tanked immediately. When signing up for a U-Haul account so I could pay my bill, U-Haul showed I did not have an active account. Called the local office and left a message that I wanted to pay my bill. It was 3-4 days before anybody contacted me. In the meantime U-Haul charged me a late fee! I decided to reach out to another locally owned storage company, got a rental container almost 4 times the one I had from U-Haul that is only $20 more per month. Then I was told by your regional manager for my area that because I called to terminate my contract before the end of the month I would not get charged for the following month. She told me that she didn't have an exact date that my unit would get picked up. So on the 5th of April the container was still in my yard, and I got an email showing I owed another month of storage PLUS an additional late fee! Although she got the monthly fee and late fee removed, the overall expirience was unnecessary and irritating. Your company will need to give better service if it wishes to retain customers in the Ellsworth Maine area.

I’m in Wisconsin, moving to Maine this spring and have a storage unit on Bangor Road in Maine. I paid my March storage fee February 28th, got 3threatening emails, one including a lien fee, two of which were after speaking with a gentleman that assured me it would be taken care of. March 31st when trying to pay April I got another threatening email! I lastly got a call from a Betsy who was incredibly nice and took my April payment. This has been a prime example of corporate disconnect... the machine. If I was in Maine now I would have discontinued Uhaul’s storage facility. I realize there has been a transition in Uhaul acquiring Maine Storage Plus but this didn’t need to happen. It’s not rocket science and crappy stamped out impersonal emails are a total management disconnect! I’m also stuck using your truck moving services again after closing on my house this spring, should be a s-show. Nothing like getting payed the big bucks. Honestly and sincerely Karen Marchese

I had a bed headboard leaning against the wall, and water ran down the wall metal siding and ruined the headboard. Water (and ice) was present at one end of the unit and ruined books and other items that were in u-haul cardboard boxes.
