I NEVER felt safe there. It was dark, damp and the elevator often did not work. On 2 occasions I encountered people living in their storage units; one even cooking which worried me about fire destroying our storage locker. I don't worry about that at my U Haul storage facility .

STANLEY HI was double charged for another rental fee however this was not disclosed to me at the time of rental. I would have changed my reservation time. The truck was very dirty inside the cabin and the trailer part had cardboard in the back left from the prior rental.The rental was nice however I should have been told I would be charged double if I bought the truck an hour late.

Kelvin C | Overall ExperienceI've used this location a couple times given its close to proximity to where I live. Unfortunately my last encounter was terrible. I was supposed to drop off the truck right before they closed, but I was running 10 minutes late. I called their location multiple times to let them know our ETA but also to inquire about what steps to take for late drop off. Unfortunately no one answered my phone calls even though they were still open. I ended up calling the general customer service line who told me that this U-haul location does not accept After-Hours drop off. They told me I could either drop it off at a different location for a hefty fee or keep the truck overnight and drop it off the next morning for a smaller fee. I chose the latter option. The next morning, I put gas in the truck as I'm supposed to and drop off the truck as soon as they open at 7am. The front desk tells me they indeed have After-hours for truck drop off and that I should have dropped it off the same-day. They advised me to call the manager to hopefully get a refund on the fee since I was misinformed. I called the manager a few times, no response. I then get my bill only to see that they've also charged me for a fee for not filling up the gas tank, WHICH I DID. I finally got ahold of the manager who said she would "check the truck" to see the meter and she would get back to me. No response. I emailed a few days later to follow up, no response. Absolutely horrific customer service. Never again will I use your location. Not only does Uhaul give you wrong information, but no one takes accountability.

SEAN NHi, I am writing to address an issue I encountered with my recent van rental, which occurred on the day of the Daylight Savings Time change. As your policy states that rentals are charged for a 24-hour period, I believe it is only fair that this timeframe takes into account the adjustment caused by Daylight Savings. Unfortunately, I was charged for an additional day due to the hour lost on that day, even though I returned the vehicle within the 24-hour period. 1 kindly request a review of this situation and a refund for the extra charges incurred. JORDAN D | Online Move InMy most recent u-haul experience was one of the worst be experienced. I arrived on time for my reservation date at 7am and the store hadn’t opened yet. Whomever that was designated to work that morning was a no-show. The general manager reported to open around 7:40am. Upon expecting the truck, we found that the previous user smoked in the cab of the truck, and there was a residual smell of cannabis. This event threw off my entire moving schedule for the entire day. I was late to move out of my current residence as well as late to move into my new home due to the morning delay from u-haul which caused me to incur additional fees. I was also informed that if I didn’t return the moving truck before closing, I would accrue a $20 charge. I was able to return the truck on time, but there were extra measure taken on my end to ensure I met the return time. I’m highly disappointed in the entire customer transaction with U-Haul.

Tomasz MI have had my storage unit since 2021 and when I went in to remove my stuff I came to find that there were mice and mice droppings all in my stuff! My linen my clothes and appliances were filled with mice droppings my clothes and shoes had been chewed on. The day I went to move out my stuff the mover I hired couldn’t continue because mice came out of my stuff and when looking around the garage I saw mice traps all around the garage. I nolonger wanted anything in there and things I had took out had to dispose of clothes, pictures, shoes, appliances, linen, tv, it was just a lose. They need to get past control. I had to go through my stuff outside they couldn’t move my stuff in until I saw what I could keep.

Shivam SI had a HORRIBLE experience!! I rented a Uhaul van. I accidently locked the van keys inside. I arranged for roadside assistance to assist with lockout. The young man who was dispatched, called me and said he would arrive between 45 minutes - 1 hour. I gave him a very detailed description of the exact location of the van. 2 hours go by and he still has not arrived. I called the Uhaul customer service and 1 representative told me the driver called in and said he was having car problems. Then a different representative told me the driver arrived at the location and could not locate me or the vehicle. Those are both LIES! I was hosting a large youth event - there is NO WAY he could say he could not locate me or the van!! After 2 1/2 hours, the driver arrives with his girlfriend in the car with him. No apology or humbleness for lying and being late to the location! THEN, the driver struggles to open the van to unlock....for over 45 minutes! It was not until one of my staff assisted the driver, was I able to get the keys out of the van. Then, the next day - 2 hours before my rental was do for return - I get a call from whoever was working at the Blue Island location office that day, and she tells me to bring the van back. I'm caught off guard because in all of my years of experience renting Uhaul vehicles, I have never heard of such a thing. After the experience with roadside assistance the day before, I was taken aback from the treatment I was continuing to receive! The woman at the drop off location continued to call me 2-3 more times. I informed her more than once that because of the experience the day before in the delay of roadside assistance, it affected my time to clear the van out and return. Then, when I arrive at the drop off location, the woman storms out of the door and approaches the van before I could even get out myself. She told me it is Uhaul policy to call 2 hours before a rental vehicle is due or they will have to report it stolen. Once again i was offended and taken aback from that statement! I'm not sure I'm familiar with that policy. Then, I asked the woman at the drop off location, where do I file a complaint because I'm not happy with my experience. She told me to "google it".
THEOTIS HOther than the rates keep going up by far is a nice facility and well of Kept.. came from payne $50 one week to $59 week then now paying $79 which is crazy

ebony pladies at the front desk were very quiet couldn’t hear them the entire conversation had to keep asking to repeat themselves and seemed upset about it. weren’t really directing me on what to do just said go outside U-HAUL is there when in reality we had to walk down two streets, and then we assumed the dolly and pads would be in the truck but weren’t cause we weren’t told where to get them so i had to come back
haley aThe front desk workers were always very nice and helpful. Everything felt so easy. I was stressed, because I’ve never done this before and I’ve definitely never rented a truck, but the whole experience was flawless and I was quite impressed. There are plenty of dolly carts to carry our furniture upstairs and units are easy for us to access. I even went after hours once (I didn’t know yet) and a woman on call texted me back immediately to help. Really great services!

zhu zMy overall experience was positive and professional except for one issue. Accessing the storage area was crowded and overly difficult because: a) rental trucks were being parked in the area; and b) customers were abusing privileges. The area only parks 6-7 cars and there was a women essentially sitting in her storage unit like it is her living room all day long not loading or unloading anything. There were at least 3 people (with their own vehicles who parked in the loading area preventing paying customers from parking) I saw who over a 4 hour period who came to sit and visit with her?!?! This is a storage facility not a residence. I pointed this out to an employee but nothing happened. That’s poor management.

IKEDICHI NWhen I picked up the truck the initial contract was for two days when I specifically said I was returning within one day and listed the more expensive insurance when i stated I wanted the basic coverage. The screen with the different coverages was not offered. Once I caught these things the attendant corrected the quote but I felt she knew that she was overcharging deliberately. Very shady

She was extremely helpful, she made the reservation for me, when I arrived to pick up the van, again, Karina was super helpful and friendly. She made the entire process easy for me. I will come back to this location again in a few months to move my daughter back into her dorm.

My emergency contact couldn’t answer and I was standing there for a long time waiting and then had to cancel. Then I rebooked a few days later and the equipment wasn’t available. They got me a new rental but it wasted a lot of time. Then the person at the counter was confusing me and I thought the price was double what I confirmed. It was a bit of a mess but was eventually worked out. I will say that everyone I spoke to on the phone was amazing! Your customer service on the phone was 5 stars. Thank you!!

Arrived 10 minutes early and waited another 5-10 minutes for someone to come out to the counter. When we were finally assisted an employee or manager, Andres G. was very rude to myself and my coworker. Had an attitude since he first walked in and tried rushing us when we tried answering the questions he was asking us. When asked over the phone he said I could return the van late and would be charged for late fees, I agreed with that as it was fine with me. When we went to check in he later told me he would be charging for a two-day rental (which means we had the Van until Sunday) but then told us we would need to return it by 2PM Saturday because they had over booked that van. I thought the place was unprofessional, not well coordinated, and he gives out the impression he doesn't enjoy being there.

Timothy R | Online Move InI just moved out of Uhaul Storage at Pilsen and was using my storage unit for about 4 months. I was able to store all my apartment stuff (one-bedroom) in one 10x10x unit. I have nothing but good things to say about my unit. Overall, the place is the cleanest storage unit location I have ever used or been to. The convenience of being able to drive in and immediately access the elevators is a huge plus (makes moving in poor weather no problem). I would say try to avoid weekends as they are significantly more busy and sometimes hard to park, but overall I did not have a problem. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is also in a safe area. Overall 5/5 recommend.

Made a lot of incredibly insulting and sexist comments with no provocation. I had to have his help to cut off an old lock and was extremely uncomfortable the entire time with the weird things he said, as was the female front office worker. She had to apologize for him several times. He alone was enough for me to want to never come back here.

It should be arched out and towards the arriving cars. The high rise building that I park my car in has the sensor arching out from the complete unit and it is much easier to reach and use.
