AHSAN RWhen I arrived to return my rental trailer on Fri Aug 15, 2025 there was a long line of vehicles returned but not yet checked in. The gentleman at the counter advised me that I could just drop the trailer in another part of the lot and he'd send me an email receipt. The next day, I got three hang-up phone calls that turned out to be from U-Haul SF. Normally I block hangup calls, but since I had not yet received that email receipt, I googled the number and discovered that it was UHaul. I called the Sunnyvale location and got no answer; the call rolled over to the national call center. Jaden contacted the Sunnyvale store and told me that they promised to do the return paperwork right away. She also said I'd get that email receipt within an hour. I asked her for a call reference number or her unique identifier in case it did not arrive. She was not able (or willing) to provide this info. She seemed convinced that UHaul's IT systems would work flawlessly, in spite of the fact that the very reason I was calling was due to my failure to receive a receipt for my return. I have rented from Sunnyvale multiple times and have always received excellent service from Jonathan, Lia and Carlos. I did not get the name of the person who promised me a receipt but did not deliver it. - Suggestion: add more staff at peak rental or return times, like the beginning and end of weekend days. - Allow staff to stay past closing to resolve ALL returns on the day of the return. - DON"T make hang-up calls!!!!! Period. Full stop.ALWAYS leave a message! - Implement a system that generates unique reference IDs for every customer interaction, especially phone calls. Issue unique identifiers to every phone CSR. DAVID GThe guys at the counter was super nice and helpful. The truck was sort of clean but not well maintained. The driver visor is broken and kept falling during the drive - this vehicle is not safe for longer drives and should only be rented for in-town moves.

Ann MThe vehicle was low on gas and they charged me 51 more for gas and I only used the car 10 miles and I went to put in the gas I used and they told me no that it was too late to do it so it seems in very bad taste for me as a customer to charge me 51 for 10 miles and also 60 for the service 110 dollars for a truck 10 miles is too expensive

So I turned back around and returned it next truck soon as I pull out the lot the tire pressure light came on and said I had low air pressure. Went to the gas station to purchase some air the entire day it kept giving me a low airpressure.
KARLA RTruck did not smell good. Back tire was very low. Didn’t notice it until after we were done moving.. the tire could have caused a major accident. Truck window was not clean. Had to wash it myself..
MONICA GLea Wong and Payam were fantastic in getting the trailer hitch set up. There was an issue in finding an electrical adapter. They did troubleshooting and came up with a solution. I really appreciated their focus in solving the problem and getting me on my way.
PAULA RCarlos and Lea were very helpful when I was ready to pick up my truck. Pima (I hope that is correct) helped me with the return. Overall they made the move day flow so much easier.

Youye XI was actually really frustrated, as I got charged for an extra day when I was still under the 24 hour limit. But my son called corporate and lodged a complaint and they refunded the second day, so I'm not mad any more.

KARTHIKKIRAN BRegarding auto transport, please make sure the customer is provided with the proper tie-down straps to match the vehicle requirements and to attach the safety chains to the front and rear axles. That process should be supervised and/or done for the customer by someone who is competently trained. I was given a transport with after-market straps that could not be deployed securely (the single-strap type, which I believe is supposed to secure over the axle, not the tire). Those straps continually came loose and I had to limp into another U-Haul (Dublin, CA) to switch gear. The proper strap should have been the web type that drapes over the wheel and is securely ratcheted in front of the tire. Also, the safety chains were not even pointed out, nor attached to my car. My vehicle was essentially sitting on the transport without being secured to the trailer - that should NEVER be allowed to happen.

BRENDA NI hate that the company kept bothering me when I was going to return the Uhaul despite the fact I agreed to return it on a certain date and time. Then after the first contact I responded and verified the location and time I’d return it. I then kept getting called again. Like I’m busy doing moving stuff, stop bothering me. If you want it earlier, offer me a credit. One star due to corporate.

Brian MAfter I dropped off the trailer in the Stockton area. I received a call from El Camino U haul and stated that I should have been given the trailer because it wasn’t available UNSAFE and has some problems in the right wheels/ suspensions. I was glad that I didn’t get into any accident but I feel like this should have not happened and it should have been checked before giving it to me…and this after they gave me another trailer because the trailer I reserved wasn’t available.☹️
ALVIN MI’ve used this Sunnyvale location about a dozen times in my life. They are well equipped with trucks, trailers, and personnel to handle all my needs regardless of my rental needs on that activity.

STEVEN FI reserved a 26' truck on 6/2, Reservation #77015346. I chose the Sunnyvale location because the U-Haul site directed me their as the only nearby site that had a 26' truck. When arrived at 7AM, I was informed that the U-Haul's computer system was not working properly, and they could not release the truck for the one-way trip I reserved. The clerk helpfully came up with a work-around, and advised me to rent as a local trip, and then take it up with the manager at the delivery location; as I was desperate for the truck I gratefully accepted this suggestion. On dropping of the truck, the manager at the drop-off site referred me to a U-Haul customer service rep to resolve the extra charge for wrong drop off location. I gave her the details, but she didn't not even listen to what had happened, just repeating 'you signed a contract' over and over. Thanks for ripping me off $254 because your system was not working correctly. Thank you for not fulfilling your obligation, which you agreed to when the reservation was placed. Truly crappy business practice.

BARBARA PEnsure equipment and reservation are met and equipment is there so there won't be further issues if there's another person and card on file is met so other authorized driver or user will not have to use their credit card cause issues or problems.
