My mom passed away very unexpectedly and, I live in another city. I rented the truck to clear out her apartment in Albuquerque and take her belongs to Portales. We had her funeral on Friday and on Saturday, I picked up the truck. I have never rented a truck before and I'm new to this process. When I retrieved the truck, I was not accompanied out to the truck, I was given a key with a number written on it and given the general location of the truck. I drove the truck to my mom's apartment complex where, I had my wife holding a spot so, I was able to back into the closest area near my mom's apartment. That is when, I discovered the rear compartment of the truck was locked with a lock. There was no key for the lock after searching the truck for the key. I then called the location and spoke with a female who advised, me to driver the truck back to the location and they would not remove the lock. I explained to her that my mom's apartment was several miles away and that, I could possibly lose the space near the apartment when I currently had the truck. I asked if it were possible for them to come to me. She stated, "We don't do that". I again explained to her my dilemma, and she advised it was not her problem, and hung up on me. I called back and a male answered the phone and was explained the situation. He advised to call roadside assistance and they would come out and remove the lock. I called roadside and it was going to take them some time to get to me, time I did not have. I was then forced to call someone else who could get there faster, and they removed the lock. This cost me $65.00 because it was a rush and on the weekend. This location needs a little more professionalism and customer care. Like checking to make sure the customer has everything they need and not just handing them a key and general location of the truck, but maybe accompany the customer to the truck and explain things to them. I would understand if they were busy, but they weren't there were employees standing around when, I was there. After dealing with the sudden loss of my mom and then having to deal with unprofessional individuals this was not a good experience at all.Lawrence G.

This facility started out good, but in the last year or so, it has gotten a lot dirtier. The bathrooms were always dirty and the floors were dirty. The donation area is a nice idea, but people started dumping trash there. The staff was friendly. Early on, if there was a problem with my payment, they would contact me. They don’t do that now. Which leads to another issue. There seems to be an issue with the online system for address changes and automatic payments.Kim P. | Overall Experience

The manager of this location does not know how to respond appropriately to paying customer’s. He was very rude and disrespectful. When a customer is unsatisfied because the storage location allowed your unit to flood and ruin your items. They should have Sympathy for the damage. The manager should never tell a customer you how he can make it hard for a customer just because he has you home items on his Premises. This manager should be fired! I'm most concerned about missing phone calls that gave me a specific cost quote. I clearly recall a phone call where this occurred. I was over-charged and the phone call proving my case is mysteriously not to be found. I also had a case where the truck I reserved was not there and in order for me to get the truck I reserved weeks in advance I had to drive almost 60 miles out of town. I did not get started loading until it was dark. U-Haul clearly doesn't mind misleading and misquoting their customers on a regular basis.Jeremy E.

I arrived to this location and was greeted by the staff as they checked out the truck and cleaned it like a pit crew at a nascar event. These guys were very friendly which I appreciateAndrew D.
The customer service at this location is horrible. I was contacted by u-haul site staff in regards to vandalism and possible water damage to my unit on Sunday morning October 9th. Upon arrival to my unit on Sunday I noticed a damp odor in my unit. I then proceeded to the front office to rent a truck to remove the items from my unit. The customer service associate was extremely rude and made it difficult for me to rent a truck. He refused to accept my banking card for payment and when I told him that I had rented a storage unit elsewhere he became angry and refused to rent me a truck altogether. I then asked for a manager and he told me to call the phone number listed on the front door. I told him that I would contact his supervisor and he became threatened and very rude. I was then forced to use my personal vehicle for removal of my personal items and have since moved out. I have yet to hear back from the supervisor or the site President. This was the worst rental experience ever and I didn’t appreciate being treated disrespectfully especially when I was a victim of the water damage issue created by vandalism of individuals who you allowed into the secure area of the property. U-haul should have tried to accommodate those affected by this issue but instead your customer service representative caught an attitude! This was the most extraordinary experience I've ever had to move my belongings. Spectacular customer service. Great value and savings above and beyond my previous moves - which number 20 + ( because I flip houses for a living). The personnel was very friendly and I applaud UHaul for the number of very capable women they employ. Efficient & knowledgeable. Great at listening & responding to what you need. Friendly and helpful staff, easy rental and drop-off. The only problem this location has is the Albuquerque criminals stealing the gas out of the trucks at night. If you rent in the morning there's a strong chance that your rental truck will be empty. No one does anything about criminals in this state so they take whatever they want.Matt T.

When I picked up the trailer the young man that was helping me out was extremely rude, he was talking to employees not paying attention to anything that I had to say or ask. Then ask me any questions at all about do I need this or do I need that? Just didn't like his attitude at all. Didn't have no customer service experience. It seemed like doesn't know how to talk to a customer in the right way, he seemed to be in his own world and it was all about him. Nothing to do with me. Tried calling location multiple times, finally just spoke with the CSR at 800#. Asked if I cleared unit could I stop the autopay on time. She said it was in process but reach out to manager to see about a prorate. Received an email a few days later saying unit was canceled. Finally was able to be transferred to manager, he said it was canceled, no prorate and can no longer use it though it was paid for the month. No attempt to make it right at all. No issues ever with UHaul. Clean facilities, easy check in and even easier check out. Besides people blocking the dock just using it for parking and not actually loading. The bathroom never seems to be unlocked for the storage facility. When you slide your keycard it beeps and let's you have access, but the door still won't open.WESLEY C. | Overall Experience

Poor communication. Was assured by several different areas of UHAUL that I would get one free month of storage due to the hoards of money I paid them for a truck and trailer and then when I got to the facility to unload my belongings, i was told they had so many people renting storage from them, that they didn't have to honor the promotion. I knew it wasn't the fault of the agents there, so I agreed to pay their service fee, went through all the paperwork after a 15 hour drive and when i got to the unit , there was a lock on my unit! Thank you for the truck. The staff in haltom city Texas was extremely professional and helpful. The staff in abq seemed confused and said they handle lots of complaints. After being assured by several areas of UHAUL that I would get a free first month of storage, I was told by the staff at the Coors/i40 location that they didn't have to honor the free month BC they "were at capacity". After a 13 hour drive and lots of other choices I could have made had I been told this upfront, I decided to pay your fee and when I went up to the storage, there was a lock already on it.
