I obviously made a good faith effort to return the trailer within 24 hours. The time of pickup was 4:38pm, and the following day return was at 5:09 pm. I rushed to get it returned the next day. For 24 hours and 30 minutes they charged for a full two day rental. Seems kinda chintzee.

It is the responsibility of the vendor to ensure that the vehicle is available at the time of reservation and to call if there are any issues to ensure someone doesn't drive to location only to find no truck. Moving is stressful enough without the truck not being available.

Hannah S.UHaul's reservation system doesn't seem to be the best, allowing for customers to show up with no reserved truck for them. Our reservation was accommodated by transferring someone else's reservation to ours.
Clint D.The Pelham location was great. However the entire experience was a nightmare. We reserved a UHaul at a location 2 minutes from our house. We went to pick it up using the mobile app and there was no key in the lockbox. After being on the phone and on hold with a UHaul rep for more than an hour without additional communication, we called UHaul again from another phone to see what the issue was. We got a new rep that actually knew what she was doing and helped us in a matter of minutes. We were redirected to a UHaul location that was 18 miles away as it was the only 24 hour place to pick up a truck. When we got there the power company was there working on their lights and had several trucks blocked in. When we were finally able to get to a truck and get the key, we jumped in to get going and the truck was showing 13 miles to empty. That delayed us even further. We had to work all day and planned on having friends help us move at 7pm, but ended up having to do it all ourselves because we did not get back with a truck until almost 10pm due to the McCalla, AL location screwing us over. At $0.79 per mile, we paid an extra $35 in mileage charges because of where we had to get the truck from, plus the time and frustration it caused us during our move. I would not rent from UHaul again unless it was an in person pickup where I was guaranteed a key.

KARL H.The mobile check in process is terrible. If two additional contacts was necessary, then ask for them BEFORE showing up at the pick up location. People have things to do besides waiting 30+ minutes at the location to pick up a truck. Additionally, I uploaded the requested pictures of my drivers license the night before per the email from u-haul, then had to do it again at the pickup location. The system is terrible. If this is how it will continue to be, then I will not be using u-haul again, and will tell everyone i know about how bad the u-haul system is.

HARRY N.To many problems with the entire rental , equipment, and customer service to comment on, treated us as if it was a “privilege†to be able to do business with them , equipment was very poorly maintained, when we returned the truck and brought to their attention all the issues that delayed us their response was “ well you have it for 24 hours†as in just deal with the problems that are delaying you and pay for a longer rental! Truck was out of gas when we picked it up barely made it to a gas station, but was “instructed to return with a quarter of a tank “ … I can go on and on , this is the second consecutive time I have had similar issues with Uhaul , I worked at Uhaul almost 40 years ago , our equipment was always kept in the best condition and the employees worked! Not just sitting around on their phones , we gave customers a valuable service .
Bill U.The truck had been wrecked and was a total disaster. The young man who waited on me was super nice, but his manager was a total jerk. I really felt bad for the young man. I think your management team needs further training on how to have a good attitude and customer service. It was obvious the young man has customer service experience. It is ashamed he had to keep apologizing for his manager's attitude. I don't think the manager really wants to be at the Pelham location. On the bright side, I guess you want to both the good and the bad. It is evident that you believe in diversity. People of color / homosexuals/ etc. Diversity is good. I am curious though, why don't you have any women managers? Is Uhaul not a woman friendly place to work?

John O. | Online Move InI paid for climate control to store family photos, and high value guns. Several guns have rust on them and two are irreparable. One was my Grandfathers and the barrel has rust all the way through barrel and is useless now. I have not dug into pictures yet. Fearful humidity that rendered 1,000’s of dollars of loss with guns destroyed family photos and documents. I was told humidity, heat, and cold was within safe storage levels. I also found an inch of water on the top of a Rubbermaid storage tub. Either water got in from roof or there was significant humidity to have that much condensation. I stated this to the agent and all he said was “sorry about that” leaving me to deal with this another way.

Also needed a unit that was not as high and one with a wider roll up door. Facility was clean and well lit. If a smaller unit becomes available closer to the entrance I will look into renting.
