When I arrived the site was short on staffing so my vehicle was not ready to go and I had to go in and figure out what was going on. In addition to that I shared with the associate that I had also rented an appliance dolly and her response was abrupt to tell me she didn't have any. After I pushed her she went and looked in other returned trucks and found one but had no intent to do that until I pushed her on it. The only reason I rented the cargo van was to move a fridge so without all of the equipment it wasn't going to work. I know she was trying to cover for people who called out but it was not a pleasant experience.Sara P.

The location was great. The software has become horrible. I have started shopping for alternatives. I chose one location and my equipment. Without permission or notification, it flipped me to another location. I understand that the equipment I chose was likely not at my chosen location. But I should have been given a choice between different equipment and a different location. My only complaint is the reservation center did not relay my reservation to the site. When we got there, there were no more large units available. We ended up with two smaller units on the second floor- not the large unit we could just drive up to. VERY INCONVENIENT! Especially after driving in from Florida. Manager was amazing and tried to make this right but it took over an hour of our valuable time. Reservation Center sold me an office space not a storage unit! But she didn’t have that either. The manager was delightful and listened to my concerns. She said that the vehicle was unsafe for the road and should have necker been rented in that condition. She took my situation seriously and treated my family with respect. She immediately took the truck in question off the road to be repaired.GLEN W.
When I came to pick up the truck the facility smelled like marijuana and the staff was visibly high! Picking up the equipment the staff whom refunded was not friendly. When I came in and spoke she did not reply. When I gave her the document she stated..I don't need that! The guy there was in his phone did not look up til the older lady ask did anyone go to the bank while she was on vacation ! Unprofessional!! The truck we were provided in Aiken had less than a quarter of a tank of gas when we picked it up. This was noted on contract. We returned the truck with a quarter of a tank of gas and then we're charged for a full tank of gas. I called and was told we would be refunded and it never happened.Charlotte J.

I rented a truck and tow dolly for my car. The associate did not attach my car properly to the tow dolly and my car came off the dolly in transit 3 hours after leaving the facility. There was damage to my car and I endured 15 hours of stress once the car was back on the tow dolly completing my move.Mark B.

The first service person I came in contact with was more worried about her vehicle than helping me. She ran outside in the middle of checking me in. The second service person finished checking me in but would not speak up when I asked her. She was very soft spoken and very had to understand. After hooking up the trailer, we noticed the running lights were not working properly. She said it was something to do with my vehicle. She told me just to use my 4 way flashers if driving at night. I was not offered another trailer although there were others available. When I returned home a day early after I returned the trailer, I went to another location to have the wire connection checked on another trailer. It Worked fine. The service guy said it would have been a problem with the trailer not my vehicle. I will probably not rent from the Sharon Rd location in the future.ROBERT B.

Had a frustrating situation, bit it was handled well. When I arrived to my storage that was assigned, there was another lock on it. The ladies in the office gave me a key to remove their lock that didnt work, so I had to go back to the office. They ended up reassigning me to another storage, luckily next to it. Because of there mix up I had to stay past the time of truck check in. But she assured me that she wouldn't charge me for having to check in late.AMBER C. | First Impressions

Terrible! First, the truck I reserved at the location near me was rented to someone else for whatever reason and I was bumped to this Sharon Rd location instead. This alone added over 30 more dollars to my move. Granted it isn't all that much, but relatively speaking, it's near 1/4th of my total cost. In addition, the associate at the Sharon Rd. location tried nothing to resolve the issue with not having an appliance dolly readily available to me which I specifically requested on my reservation. This caused the most inconvenience of all and resulted in an injury to my brother. I have called and voiced my disdain and have a reference number and two supposed requests for a callback from a manager, but still no one has called me back.Jeremy Z.

The management and staff at 1400 Sharon Rd. W. U-Haul were always friendly, courteous and helpful. I couldn’t have asked for a better customer service experience and is my reason for an excellent overall experience rating. Might be helpful if U-Haul addressed the elevator glitch. Oftentimes I could check in with my card at the front gate, yet unable to access the elevator to my 2nd floor storage unit. The card reader at the elevator either wouldn’t read my card or would read it and yet the elevator would still not work.This caused the manager and staff to have to interrupt what they were doing to come and help me resolve it. The online chat and default call in automated menu are some of the worst customer service features I have dealt with. Climatized feature was well below average. Items were covered in mildew. An oriental rug mildewed and rotted. This is Compared to our storage unit at Park Road which had no mildew ever. Also, Utility carts never available. Always available at Uhaul Park Road. Property gates always open. Again not at Park Rd. I had a roll up door get stuck which took 13 months to have repaired. The general manager (not the desk people, but the manager above them) at the time was extraordinarily confrontational. He was retired military and talked to me like I was his subordinate. Fact is - I am retired military as well and recognized the fact that he had apparently not been properly re-socialized to life in the civilian world. At other times the desk people have ranged from friendly and outgoing, to dismal and apathetic. The turnover of employees interfered with developing any kind of good relationship between me and the facility. Having been an eighteen year customer, I would have expected that the staff would be able to at least recognize me to the point that we did not have to wade through my records to establish that I am in fact a customer and just wanted access to my unit. The facilities were good enough (with the exception of the door) but overall a very disappointing experience. Pay people enough that want to make a career there and all of the above could be improved.TODD C. | Overall Experience
I have had nothing but a great experience with each U-Haul location that I have dealt with! I especially appreciate Sam at the Sharon Rd West location for helping me with an issue I was having while trying to pay the rent for my storage unit. She was very professional and helped me a great deal! U-Haul has a lot of security features and very clean storage units. They make renting their trucks/vans easy as well. The swipe in/swipe out situation is different from any other storage place I've used and a little confusing but so far so good. While the facility itself was great, the competency of the service could have improved. While I did the online check in as recommended to reduce my wait time - it did nothing of the sort. The lady that checked me in still asked me all the same questions I did during the online check in a couple of days prior. Had to enter my credit card information in 3 times which made me feel uneasy as I know that's how scammers get credit card information as well. On top of that, none of the staff were wearing masks which is a requirement in NC. Instead, they propped up boxes against the check in counter to keep customers away from them. The power happened to be out at the initial point in time I came by because of a severe storm, but they allowed me additional flexibility to unload my truck if I needed it without any additional cost.
