Overall my experience was good. The truck was fully functional, and while the tow dolly wasn’t ideal I did receive the necessary assistance to accommodate my travel needs. But what stood out most about this location is the customer service, there’s an employee by the name of Tracie that was extremely helpful in making the entire process smooth and seamless. She even went so far as to stay pass her shift to ensure that I not only was taken care of but she went so far as to attach the tow dolly herself and walked me through the process. Good customer service helps make the entire experience. Otherwise it’s just a typical rental company, anyone can loan a vehicle but not everyone can do it in style and grace. Shout out to Tracie for sure!

On other hand , I first went to 103 Holbrook, Glenwood, IL, couldn't get the equipment I needed, said my pickup didn't qualify for trailer and ask too many evasive questions, like whats mom's name. I'll try not to go back to them.

Rep promised me to cover an additional day and the miles due to the schedule conflict. My reservation never got confirmed from U-Haul. So I went to the location I reserved with, was sent to the location I rented from. Was there for over an hour. He kept helping walk ins instead of finishing my paperwork. Other locations I’ve rented from in the past I’m in and out within 5-10 minutes, no issues. Then find out he changed it to a one day rental when my original reservation was for 2 days. Just terrible.

Rayshawn was tremendous. He is the Asst Manager at the facility. He helped me over the phone to arrange after hours access. In person he expedited the return of my trailer, helped me get extra supplies, worked on the lights when they weren’t working in my corridor. At the counter he serves more than one customer at a time, letting customers with straightforward requests be helped quickly while also solving a complex problem for another customer. When I wanted to switch to a larger storage unit he arranged that and completed all the paperwork quickly and efficiently. He does the work of two employees, regularly coming out of the office to work in the yard or the storage facility all while darting back into the office to man the desk when needed. Please give him a raise! He made my experience at the Canterbury location outstanding.

My contacts with staff were a mix of good interactions and no way am I listening/talking with you. I am ignoring anything/everything you say. I had negative responses that were much worse at other storage sites. Fortunately, the owner was present for my final visit here. I had paid a full extra month. I had been told I would get at least half of the next month’s extra payment back. I was refunded the full extra month’s payment. The owner took charge of the review of payments and awarded me the full month overpayment. I felt as though I was treated fairly. Perhaps she was a new employee who erred.

The doors to the storage units were very weak and flimsy. They can easily be kicked in even with a lock on. The wait time for service was often very long in the office and the man at the desk made many errors at check-in that caused him to restart my transaction multiple times before finalizing. Staff were short with their answers and would walk away when trying to ask them questions or get clarification. Lastly, I was not able to reach anyone via phone at the office and was routed to the main uhaul number every single time causing me to have to find time to come in before they close at 7 PM which I never had time to do to ask simple questions that were never answered. At check-in, I asked for 24/7 Access and was told the computer wasn't working properly and that I would be able to add that later. I was never able to reach anyone by phone and when I did come down one day an associate told me she would add 24/7 Access to my unit, but didn't. Dealing with uhaul for my out of state move has been a very miserable experience from truck rental in CT, to storage in Illinois to truck rental in Illinois. Staff are rude and practices are not transparent leaving the customer feeling uneasy. I would never deal with uhaul again and I will ensure no one I know deals with you either. Further I will be leaving reviews on other platforms.

Staff is friendly but ommunication is poor. Each time I called ahead to set up access our unit staff was not aware or ready on arrival. When account was closed I was still got charged the next month.
