This is the second time renting from this location within 6 months. Both times their computers were down. Employees went from one computer to the next trying to get one to work. Took forever to get checked out even though I had 'pre-checked' online.

THEY GOT MY ORDER WRONG & THE PICKUP TIME WRONG- MY QUOTE FOR EVERYTHING WAS UNDER 900...8 AND CHANGE...AND THEY CHARGED ME ALMOST 1300...I WAS TOLD BY A UHAUL REPRESENTATATIVE THAT I WOULD BE RECIEVING AROUND 200-300 IN A REFUND IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS (AS OF NOVEMBER 4)...AND THAT NEVER CAME! Picked up the clean, nice-looking cargo van. Location was efficient and friendly. No surprises. Price was exactly as quoted. Moved my daughter to her new home in just a couple trips with this roomy van. When I returned the van, the process was quick and efficient. Would definitely rent from this location again, and recommend it to others.

My only complaint is that the windshield was really dirty on the inside and hard water spots on the passenger side door and mirror so visibility was bad. Truck was great otherwise.

When we told the employees our situation they explained that no location wants to repair a one way rental because it takes out of that locations budget that’s why we were given a faulty trailer but that they will get it fixed.

Clerk named Kelley was upset on late return even though we called 2 hrs ahead to state traffic delay of 1 hour. I was in line while friend returned truck and when radio called in he stated "Fuck the Aunkst party" in front of me and all customers. I addressed it and said that's me and he began argument and cussing me Akins with charging a full extra day while giving truck to next customer. I said if I am paying I am keeping it and he said no way in hell. Good bye UHaul

The outside of the truck was covered with grimy leaves and debris. Even though the truck engine works great and got me through my trip. The windshield wipers were less to be desired shredded and scratching the windshield. The people at the this location were actually terrific. Thank you

There was a POS system glitch when I was checking out and it did not record that I denied coverage...it automatically charged me for SafeMove even though I had declined it online when reserving and then again at the terminal. When I noticed it, I was rudely told that I must have hit the wrong key...then he watched me when he tried to re-do the contract and saw I it the correct key...but it didn't register. He then said (after at least 5 minutes) that he would need to void both of my contracts (I had rented 2 trucks) and restart the process...that would take 15 minutes more. He was very rude, as well. I told him it wasn't worth my time...especially since it wasn't my fault. So...pretty unhappy there...and I rent very regularly from this location, and UHaul, in general.

Everyone was super friendly, the store itself was clean as was the truck. The guys working the desk and running trucks were fast, efficient, and funny. Total pleasure to work with. The only issue I saw was that the parking lot is so tiny (it is Costa Mesa after all) that parking was difficult. We had to wait for a spot both when picking up and dropping off. I'm not sure that there's a way to fix that.

The front windshield was grimy on the inside. It made night driving more difficult. Also the right side mirror couldn’t adjust to the correct rear view. This felt especially dangerous as I was driving an unfamiliar truck.

My son returned trailer for me so I do not know these answers. However, he did comment that there were a lot of Mexicans at the location wanting money to help load the trailer. After finding out that he was returning it, everyone disappeared.

Uhaul "15 foot" truck is only 12.5 feet,, the truck is measured at the top and includes the length of "moms attic". So be sure to double check everything and don't take anyone's word for anything... Besides that I had no issues with the truck mechanically and drove it 1000 miles.

My first reservation was not available and I was not informed. I drove to pick up a vehicle and wsdited for the first location to open for 30 minutes after my scheduled pickup, only to find they had no vehicle. Then it took 1 hour on the phone with Uhaul to reschedule a pickup. When I arrived at the location at 9am, I wad told the phone representative made my reservation for 9pm that night. I had to have a van for a very short window and when I told this to the guy at the desk, he was extremely rude and confrontational telling me that he was "doing me a favor" when I pointed out that the amount I was being charged was incorrect. I almost walked out I was so angry. I have his name and his managers name and plan to call and make a complaint about his disrespect and attitude. Then, to top it off, I arrived to pick up 10 fine art paintings, and they did NOT put the blankets I ordered in the van. I wad also told on the phone the night before that she would credit me $50 for their mistakes andd my time, but I have not seen that either. I have used Uhaul many times and have not had problems before, but this series of problems has me hesitant to ever rent from Uhaul again.

This location was excellent, but the corporate headquarters on live chat especially, then three phone calls was a nightmare. At the Costa Mesa store, the manager Jonathan went above and beyond helping me. The following day when my father picked up the van, the woman at the counter was one of the nicest customer service people I have ever dealt with. I think her name was Ashley?

Ensure your truck windshields are cleaned with Windex. My windshield, specifically the drivers side was hard to see out of, and a hazard. Also, someone tightened the right side front, large rear view mirror so I could not see out of it or move it.

The owners and employees are very professional and friendly. The storage facility is amazing!!! It is spotless, temperature controlled to perfection and, most importantly, very secure with lots of cameras and locks. I have my items stored elsewhere previously, and the other facility was dirty, not secure and without insulation and AC, very hot. It is always a positive experience when I do business with them.

This is simply the best UHaul location I have ever used. Service is friendly, efficient, and of high quality. Some UHAUL locations are hell on earth. This one should be the template on which your business is modeled.

These guys were great, I got there before the store opened and they let me inside to do the contract anyway. When I mentioned how unusual that was, they said they do it all the time. The truck and trailer worked perfectly and they even helped me put my car on the trailer. Their service was wonderful!

I have rented here before & encountered the same attitude, but not quite as bad as it was this time. The person who worked the counter was rude to me when I didn't hear something he asked and he said to me,"Am I talking to myself here?" I wasn't sure I had just heard someone that I was giving money to say something that rude to me until I looked at him for a second and he repeated,"Hello? Am I talking to myself here?!" If I didn't need the truck as much as I did that day, I would've left & gone somewhere else. It's pretty astounding, I have to say, being treated that way by someone who looked like they slept there that night and was in a bad mood. Again, I've experienced it before at this exact location. The people at the counter were not helpful, they charged me rental insurance even after I clicked the NO button. I was advised that it would be taken off when I returned the truck. So later the day when returning the truck, workers at the counter did not want to refund my insurance.. it was all a head ach... poor customer service by far

This is my second encounter and believe I wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the location and the working ours. That is the only reason why i went back to this shit hole of a branch. I thought maybe not all of them are pricks maybe just Danny. It turns out the douchiness had spread out throughout most of employees there. This particular asshole told me we DONNOT HAVE ANY TRUCKS AVAILBLE meanwhile I got a reservation online which clearly means he was bullshiting and just don't want to lease to ME as if he was the god damn owner who can dictates who gets what. I talked to the customer service then they helped me get it. I think most of the people in the counter are incredibly rude and need a lot of discipline. Completely n acceptable to treat people this bad. Also the bald guy is another asshole FYI. The old guy who helped me check out the truck before leasing it was very nice BIG THUMBS UP. Oh and the guy who refused to lease the truck looks like a frog with a huge ear lob and a massive whole in it.

I booked a truck online at uhaul.com, but they said no trucks were available at the Costa Mesa store and that I had to go to a place off of Alton and Von Karmen. When I got there, the guy said he didn't have my truck, but called to figure it all out and said my truck was waiting at Costa Mesa. Not sure if the website booking is messed up, but there's a disconnect somewhere. I even called in the morning to confirm my truck pickup and the operator said it was ready. Just to mention it was at a different location. Other than that, Costa Mesa was very helpful and even credited me the 2nd day charge that the online system wanted to charge me. People were great, online system needs work.

Improve the Bad attitudes from the employees to the customers. Will and the other morning counter person would be fired if they worked work me! I would also fire the GM Timothy Fouse-Clark for his incompetence as a GM and allowing his people to display this bad behavior in a customer service business. I would also consider taking this business from the owner of this location! Making UHAUL have a bad name and dtiving customers to the competition!

I reserved a truck 5 days in advance for a Costa Mesa pick up. They did not have a truck for me and i was told to pick one up in placentia (45 minutes from my home). With no advanced warning to rearrange movers. This cost me not only money but delayed my move until the following day. The store itself was good, but U-hauls online reservation needs a lot of work.

Regarding the totes we rented, they could use some cleaning on the inside and I noticed that there were a few labels left from prior movers. Not as much of a big deal as the inside of some of them were dirty, and could have used some hosing down. The outside of them were clean.

My comment is not about this location but about the overall rental experience. First I made a reservation the night prior to my move and when I called in the morning to confirm, they couldn't find my reservation. I then called the main U-Haul customer service number and I was told the name was put under my bf's name. I listed him as a driver so I don't know how that happened when I got a confirmation email addressing to me and not my bf. So now this place I was renting from said they didn't even have the truck I needed. Then I had to call the scheduling department and reschedule a new appointment. The rental was fine until at the end when we were trying to return it, the system had an error and wouldn't let us clock on self return. We had to wait for close to an hour to be told that we could just leave the car. This is ridiculous.

The rental of this trailer was just fine and I have no complaints. What I don't like about this location is that I made an appointment the week before to have a trailer hitch installed on my vehicle. I showed up for the appointment and was told, "We can't do it today. We're too busy." I had organized my whole day around the appointment time (noon) to have the hitch installed and then they turned me away. I had to have it installed somewhere else.

I thought the people working at the Uhaul location were great and very helpful. However, the passenger side mirror on my truck would move down after 5 minutes of driving in such a way that I could only see the ground on that side of the truck. The air conditioning didn't work. Also, I ordered a dozen blankets, only 6 were given to me with the truck. As a result, some of my belongings were damaged by the movers because there were not enough blankets to cover everything that needed to be covered.

There was no parking at the facility. When I got there I was curtly told "theres no parking here, go to ____ street." I had to park on a residential street around the block just to get the truck. Because the oc fair was on, there was strict parking enforcement, so i couldn't leave the car during the move. There is a large parking lot next to the facility, and they should make a deal for customers to use it, or somehow provide more parking (maybe park fewer trucks and trailers out front).

My intial reservation was for a van, which I personally called to speak with a representative to confirm after making it online. I was promised there would be no issues and my pick up would run smoothly on the day of. When I arrived the car had been locked with keys inside so I was told to go to another location to try to get a new reservation. Which I had to get transportation to. Then Other location only had moving truck available. I then had to pay the difference and forced to use truck instead of van. I was using rental for wedding flowers so all flowers were put in hot truck with no ventilation. I had not set up any other options because was promised days in advance that I would not have to expect any circumstance where can would. It be available. This whole experience was so awful and no one seemed to care how this situation affected me and my business. As a new customer who planned to use uhaul weekly I can assure you I will never rent from uhaul again. Customer service and experience was terrible.

Kept being told to move my car because they offer NO parking spaces, was told there was 5x10 units available, and then not, and then there was and then there was not, come to find out the GM just didn't want to offer them under the 1 month free that is supposed to be given with my move, so I had to cram my stuff into a 5x5 (and couldn't fit all of it). Feel like they just want to scam people into paying for upgraded storage. Also when I returned my equipment I had to argue with them over the fact that I paid in cash in NJ and took over an hour for me to get my $60 cash deposit back. He also didn't believe me that the unit was there after I returned it and checked it in. Tim's condescending attitude made a bad situation worse.

I pulled the ford van into the return lane at uhaul as required for proper check in. I took the key out of the ignition and put on the center console. I then got out of van awaiting the attendance of checking in. When attendenant approached the van to open the door they were locked with key inside. I was told it was my problem due to the fact uhaul personnel could not check mileage. My luggage was locked inside van. I was to catch a flight when I left uhaul. 2 hours later after three locksmiths attempted to open the van was opened. At a cost i of 175.09 to me I grabbed my things and departed. I want to be reimbursed for my expense!

Better communication on reservation. I reserved my trailer on 6/1/17 for a pick up date on 6/24/17. I requested a pick up at a certain location and they changed my location at the last minute due to trailer availability., on the pick up day, I did express check in and when I arrived as they were getting my paperwork done, the manager Tim who was not helping me noticed that they didn't have the trailer I reserved, so he offered me an open trailer and even went a step further and offered to tie my stuff down once I loaded, which they did and they also threw in a free tarp with rope, which was greatly appreciated. If I hadn't taken the open trailer I would of had to drive an additional 25 miles out of my way to pick up a trailer...so thanks to Tim and his team in Costa Mesa, what could of been a total disaster for me actually worked out and Tim even saved me some money for all of my trouble...

I made a reservation days in advance and went on line to do express registration. When I arrived you had no vehicle for me. We had a small window to accomplish our move and spent 45 minutes waiting. They finally made a substitution acting like they where doing me a favor and tried to charge me double what I was quoted. In the end we managed and they adjusted my bill, but the attitude seemed to be that it was too bad and they had no control. Maybe you should have more vehicles or schedule longer times between use. It was very aggravating!

#1 The trailer I was given was a different number than on the paper work. The counter person entered two digits in reverse order than the actual number. They had to redo all the paper work because of this error. #2 The paper work I received said my tow vehicle could only tow 3790 lbs. The manufacturer of my vehicle says I can tow 12,500 lbs. There is a slight discrepancy here that your rating is less than 1/3 of what the manufacturer says I can tow.

I had a HORRIFIC rental experience of this 26 ft truck. WIthin 40 min on the freeway (stop/go traffic, level road- no incline) the truck overheated and we had to pull over on a VERY unsafe exit off the 605N at Firestone Blvd in Downey where traffic was speeding by. It took 60 min for a mechanic to arrive...in 100 degree temps (and my 78 yr old mother was with us). It was suggested we drive to a safe place for the mechanic to work on the truck. 2 hours later after changing TWO LARGE hoses (that should have been noted were bad had there been a visual inspection of the engine!) we got back on the road- with 2 warning lights still illuminated (oil light and temp light). The brakes were very spongy and required extreme pressure to bring the truck to a stop, the headlights were incredibly dim and we still had 7 hours to go. The drivers side window wouldn't close all the way and there was a horribly noisy whistling the whole drive. When we finally got to our destination (3 hours late due to the mechanical breakdown) the truck started overheating AGAIN and the power steering went out. We left the truck overnight and drove to storage to unpack the truck. Luckily we were close to the drop off location as who knows if the engine would have blown. Upon return , an employee noted that this truck NEVER should have been sent out on a long haul trip...only local. We were not safe in this truck and were not only completely inconvenienced and our safety was in danger during the breakdown, but incredibly anxious the whole trip. I am contacting my credit card company about this fiasco. I also called the Uhaul 800 # to create a file .Lydia explained that I will hear from Uhaul within 24-48 hours to receive compensation from this horrific experience. I'm still waiting and will have my credit card company take over if I'm not contacted by Tuesday, June 20. Not ONCE did anyone at the 800# apologize for this situation , inconvenience , hassle and dangerous situation. I am appalled at all that transpired.

Was looking to (possibly) rent a 2×2 storage for business equipment last Saturday. Had an issue with 24Hr access. I would need it right away but I was told permission would have to be given on Monday from branch manager. So I held off on the rental. Saw what I thought was another possibility wich led me back into the same branch. To deal with the same representative. That individual was not as polite the second time around. I'm sure a 24hr self serve storage could be a problem with certain renters. However I had, nor do I have plans to throw a late night party in my new, fancy, state of the art 2x2 storage unit. Staff not attentive and have attitude. There should be parking for customers. Guy that checks in equipment only was the only staff member that was polite and efficient throughout interaction.

I am PISSED OFF about my uhaul rental. I needed a van/truck to move a studio from Newport Beach to Santa Barbara. For obvious reasons I needed the drop off location to be in SB, and the fact that there was a flat rate for that was ridiculous. First, they make you pay for 2 days and a set amount of miles. What they didn't tell me when I checked it out was if you go OVER your set miles you have to pay for it. So I picked up my uhaul, drove it home, loaded, headed to SB, unloaded, had to refuel gas, then drop off. I returned the truck within 6 hours, but I was a little over my set mileage. So not only was this truck $250 because they make you pay for TWO DAYS, but I had to chuck out another $10 for "extra miles" which I was not notified of at the time of pickup. I WILL NEVER use this company again. WAY over priced, no flexibility, and poor communication with customers.

There a bunch of people sitting on the curb outside waving and yelling at me when I drove up. I find it very confusing and flustering to where I missed the turn in and had to go around the block again.

We ordered a 15' enclosed truck. Turns out a 15' truck means only 11.5' of usable space on the floor. What a total disaster. Who would have known that a 12 long item wouldn't fit in a 15' truck. What a scam! I would have ordered a bigger truck if U Haul would advertise the truck as is, and not count the tiny cab over space as the additional 3'.

I am highly annoyed that I rented online from the Campus Drive location and then was redirected without prior knowledge to the Newport Blvd location! I wasted an entire night! The Newport people and location were very nice and accommodating but your online system leaves a lot to be desired!

Clean the truck! They are usually dirty inside and outside. The local dealer told me they are not allowed to clean the trucks due to the oil separation issue (what I think that means is they cannot wash oil into the runoff).

Tried renting a trailer from the Campus Dr. location, lady tested my hitch cable and told me that my trailer lights didn't work. I had to go over to Newport Bl location for them to test further. All along I knew that my hitch lights worked. After having an associate at Newport test my lights, he confirmed that the did WORK. Campus Dr. associate needs to do a better job of diagnosing, and hooking up the trailer to see, instead of just using some tiny testing tool.

A little trouble about timing. If you rent it be sure not to until you have the person driving on the lot first. Parking is a bit of a problem. And they won't drive it of to the next street for you. Really nice people!

After driving over 2500 in 1 day (ark to ca) I dropped off the trailer, but I was trapped in the area. I could not get out. Too many trailers and trucks blocking the exit. They told me I had to wait till everyone is done with their paper work so they can move their vehicle. U-haul could of moved 1 truck very easily to let me out. But they wanted me to wait. I was in no mood to wait. To go up and beyond to make a customer happy is not their forte'. For the employees to problem solve a situation is not within their cranial capacity.

When I reserve a specific trailer size make sure it is there. Trailer was NOT there as some other employee approved for the prior renter to keep it longer but either did not get it approved or did not register it. I overheard employees talking about this employee who made the mistake and he has done it before.

The equipment that I rented worked out perfectly and was in good shape. On returning the trailer to this location there is very limited space. The customer return area was full with a trailer. There was the spot available for returning the trailer from the same spot I picked it up at. So I pulled past the return area and proceeded to put the trailer in a position for easy off loading for the staff to put it in front right where I picked it up from. A staff member came running up to me and was very rude asking me if I read the customer return sign. I told him yes I did but by me pulling past it it would help them out and make it easy for me to pull out. He told me I was going to have to drive around the block and come back to the customer return area. I was in a chevy turbo deisel. It was difficult enough getting in this small location. So when I came back and pulled in to their customer return spot we disconnected and the. They had me drive around back and go through bay 1. To make the turn into bay 1 took a 5 point turn and I couldn't drive straight through I had to back through then turn around again to exit the lot. They said they were not going to put the trailer in that spot. One hour later I came back and sure enough they had put the trailer I used in the original spot I got it from. Most of the staff is friendly and fast thinking but this one guy went above and beyond to complicate a simple situation. I suggest training staff to improvise. I have rented this trailer from this location before and did the same thing I attempted to do this trip with no problems and the guys working that day told me they appreciate how I helped them out so they didn't have to hand pull the 6' 12' across the yard to put it in the same spot I placed it for them.

The one thing that really surprised me was having to wait to get the trailer I wanted because of the number of people in front of me waiting to get their equipment. I was very pleased with the whole transaction and use of your equipment. Thank you.

At the main entrance to U-Haul facility, they are to many people looking to be picked up for work. They block the entrance and the exit as well. It is not safety to enter and exit with 20-30 illegals ( I assume ) around your car. They are arrogant after you refuse to "hire" theme.

The location itself was fine. However UHaul's advertised rate of $19.95 is a pure bait and switch. With all of the fees and mileage charges added on, the total is WAY higher. Misleading advertising for sure.

The day workers made it really difficult, dangerous and uncomfortable as they harassed me coming into the parking lot as well as when I was trying to leave. They were knocking on the windows. Their presence impaired my ability to see where to go as well as impairing my ability to see oncoming traffic as I exited onto Newport Blvd.

The main manager... was very rude and he chased me down in the parking lot as if I wasn't going to pay my balance... I was just going to my husband that was parked to get the rest of the money... I couldn't believe he was doing this... I told him to hold on he has made me feel very singled out and that was a very uncomfortable experience... I'll never go back there ever again... completely racist move right there
