I rented this truck a few weeks in advance. I reserved an appliance dolly as well. On the day I picked up the truck, there was not an appliance dolly available. Sort of negates the idea of a reservation and it was the one key item I needed to help move. I had to rent one elsewhere. The rental process was easy and the unit was clean. The stripping around the door was loose and I had to stick it to the door every time I got in our out of the truck. During the rental paperwork process I was offered insurance, which I accepted. There were two boxes to check and they told me to check 14 dollar box. Evidently that box covers everything except the roof and the moms attic. I'm sure that was spelled out in the paperwork however the employee did not make a distinction, my fault for not reading everything and trusting employee. During my moving process my refrigerator poked a hole in the roof, at the time I was thankful I bought insurance, only later did I find out the limitations. I returned the truck and showed them what happened, it looked to me like something that could be fixed with metal tape. The next day I got a call from the woman that helped with the rental. She said the cost of fixing the roof was 440 dollars but if I paid today I would get a 20 percent discount. I told her I did not think it would be that expensive but if it was then I would pay. I asked about the insurance and she told me it did not cover the roof. I then told her I would like to see the truck after the repair and I'd like to see the repair bill that I was paying. She told me that they did not do that. I clarified that they wanted me to pay for a repair with no invoice and no inspection. She said I did not have to pay for the repair but if I did not I would not be able to rent from them again. I honestly thought about not paying because of how unprofessional their practices are however I can only account for myself. So I did the right thing and paid for the repair, I hope they will do the right thing and give me the requested information. If they don't I'll never rent from that location again and I will actively encourage others to use other places as well.Glen B.

This review is by no means a knock at this Uhaul location or Uhaul as a whole. I have rented from this location multiple times and they have always done right by me. The truck was clean but it had a nasty shimmy at around 60mph. The driver door (fully shut and window up) had a lot of wind noise coming in. Almost seemed like the door was twisted. Upon returning the truck I informed that trucks are only serviced once a year. I have rented a lot of truck from Uhaul over the years and this was by far the worst truck I have ever driven.Keith M.

I completed my reservation online and DECLINED insurance. The clerk pushed my husband to add it anyway. I was not prepared for the additional cost. The manager was unwilling to remove the charge when I found out and called back. An online reservation should be processed with the EXACT options chosen, NOTHING MORE. Unfortunately my experience was not great at Uhaul. I have never rented from them before and will most likely never go back. Uhaul rented us a truck and auto transport which were at different locations. They added extra free miles to the truck for us so we could go pick up the auto transport from another location but it was our responsibility and our time that was required to obtain these two items at different locations. The truck pick up was quick and painless but once the auto transport was picked up it was evident the truck had electrical issues. The auto transport lights did not work. Was had already paid for both around 600 dollars. We then remained at the unhaul location holding lights and assisting the associates to fix the truck for over 2 hours because there were no other trucks available for us to rent. Eventually, another truck was offered for a discounted price and a refund for the broken truck was promised.We were promised a discounted rate for the new truck due to uhaul error and malfunctioning as well as our time we had given to uhaul to help fix their own problem. Wilson, General manager at Uhaul called a few days later and said we would only be refunded a 50 dollar inconvenience fee which was very disappointing. Uhaul representatives and managers are not in communication with each other and we really got screwed over essentially only being refunded 50 bucks for all the trouble we had endured. Also due to the last minute change for the truck, the gas was not filled to 15/16 and we will be paying more out of pocket than before the issue. Please do not trust Wilson/Michael Hart, General Manager at Uhaul, he is not looking out for the customers best interest. I would recommend Tristan at Uhaul of hickory flat, who had all good intentions in helping us with Uhauls error. Unfortunately his help was not supported by Wilson/Micheal Hart the General manager. I would request full refund on the spot so you do not also get screwed over in this way. Tristan deserves a raise and the position of General manager and Wilson/Michael Hart did not succeed in customer satisfaction, I am completely disappointed in Unhaul and hope to never do business with Wilson Hart again.Sydney F.

Hickory Flat Uhaul Store is always my first choice for all moving needs. They did another great job. On the other hand, the moving help I hired didn't work out/show up at scheduled time. I had a hard deadline to meet and ended up loading and unloading the truck with neighbors/friends. I'm now headed to surgery for a damaged right knee. I've been billed $175.90 (Movinghelp.com - Young Hunks) for non-services. I advise the Uhaul website to remove this particular contractor (Young Hunks) as a provider.FRANCIS M.

My spouse and I had to put some items in storage due to her moving for her master's program. We did not want to throw away anything valuable that we would not be taking with us, and we did not want to over pack the vehicle. So it was convenient to have a place to store our belongings in such a short notice. We had been moving for three days straight from a place that did not have elevators. Where do I begin,...the UHaul app indicated a “drive-up,” 24’ storage was available at this location. When I called to confirm the day prior to my arrival, I was told they in fact did not have one available. Instead I was offered 2, 15’ storages. I should have been given the price of the 24’ storage for both 15’s. Instead, the manager, Haley Radcliff, told me, “I’ll give you the first month rent for free.” Wait—that’s already “company policy,” —so how’s that making it “right” for the customer?” So, nothing was really offered to make it right, nor were the 2, 15’ storages adjacent to each other. I had used the UHaul app to locate a 24’ storage and it showed Hickory Flat had one available, which is why I chose them over other facilities. I had an item (20’ long) which would have fit in a 24’ storage, instead I had to carry this item to another location which cost me more mileage and gas since I had to use the 24’ truck to transport the item to and then return the truck back to Canton. Also, after my storage rooms were assigned I drove the 26’ truck to the rooms only to find that they were both still locked (BTW, I had 5 friends come to help me unload; well, they had to wait til I went back thru the gate and to the office to ask someone to unlock the rooms). Finally, not attributed to this location was the problem with 2, 26’ trucks. Let me explain. I rented a 26’ truck from 6201 Cayce Lane, Columbia TN 3840. After completing the paperwork, I pulled out of the facility only to have to drive back in to the facility to tell them the breaks didn’t work so I could hopefully get another truck. Well, they didn’t have one available. They willingly made a call to a “higher authority” to get approval to give me a “truck that was either already assigned to someone else or it could have been a “fleet” truck??? - I don’t know. Regardless, they gave me this second truck. Well, this substitute truck had a “Check Engine” light come on after I had the entire truck loaded and had just begun (6am) my drive to the Hickory Flat storage facility in Canton. I called 1800GOUHAUL while enroute to GA and they told me a static (not flashing) indicator would be “ok” to drive. Still, to have that light come on wasn’t reassuring when you’ve just begun your 7 hour trip with a fully loaded truck with all your personal belongings. So, two questionable trucks and mishaps with my storage facility isn’t leaving me with positive impressions of UHaul right now.Jack C. | First Impressions

First rented in 2018. U Haul office sold me a lock for the unit that was over $10. Two weeks later they called me and told me I had to have a round lock on the unit. Nine months later the roof leaked and got all our contents wet. We were given a unit on the second floor rather than the top floor and we had to move everything ourselves. After the move, our electric fund transfer was messed up and we got a notice we were late because the office did not transfer the electric fund transfer when they moved us to a unit that didn't leak. Twice in the next few months the only elevator in the building was broken and it took at least a month to get it fixed. We had to haul our bicycles upstairs. On Wednesday, 10/21, we went into the office and requested a larger unit. The manager, Haley, put one on hold for us for two days and wrote our name down beside the unit. We were willing to rent it right then, but she said no problem. She could hold it for a couple days. The next day, 10/22, we went in to rent the larger unit and move into it and they had rented it to someone else. The bathroom in the storage building is always filthy. The office area is always filthy with garbage falling out of the trash cans onto the floor. There is a dumpster in the parking lot that is filthy with trash laying on the ground all around it. We moved out and went to another storage facility within three miles that rented us the same size unit, $10 a month less, with 1/2 for the first three months.
