Return went smoothly, but had to wait for customer service rep to come out to complete the return as the girl processing the truck in front of mine, moved the truck and never came back. Short wait (less than 10 minutes and processed it quickly. Was over on mileage by like 20 and they didn't charge me so got a $0 invoice when done, which was much appreciated.Stuart S.

Extremely rude demeanor. Even the general manager acted like they did not want my business. I highly recommend further customer service training for employees at this location- everyone seemed to be barking orders at each other and made me out to be an inconvenience when I had a reservation ahead of time and was a paying customer. I will not recommend this location or Uhaul for future moving needs. I have worked in a wide variety of customer service settings myself for 13+ years and I have never seen myself or anyone I work with treat customers this badly. What a shame.Lyndsey W.

Fantastic experience! Dedicated staff. Kind and helpful within the busiest season. Also, I wanted to share that Ryan is an incredible leader at the Ames Iowa Uhaul site located at Duff. Ryan works harder than most people who own businesses. He either owns the Uhaul and/or he’s passionate about making the moving experience a good one. Honestly, when it comes to me moving, Uhaul has a very happy and determined staff — set on making moves easy, friendly and efficient. I appreciate the way Uhaul handles things and swear that this is one of America’s unsung essential services that really needs a round of national applause, and if all goes as planned; I intend to share this message with leadership in the government. It seems to me that moving is one of the most stressful times in a persons life span. Uhaul has, so far, never let me down. Uhaul: I’m impressed you allow people to set a promissory note. In Ames, and in Jackson, there was no hate or degrading comments for the person who asked about that matter. Nationally, who does that?; unless you declare your a business (not many companies). I am a new business owner and this move is establishing a new business where demand exists for the services we offer. The gentleman at the desk needed more assistance. It was a very busy time on Saturday afternoon. I felt rushed through the process. This was my first time renting and did not feel as though my questions were welcomed due to the volume of customers he was trying to take care of.Carolyn H.

Everything was great with my pick up and the check with Dan. However, the clerk you have on the inside some very impatient woman who assumes everyone should know things about storage. She was rude, short and I did not appreciate her attitude. You really should look into hiring another clerk that rude woman who worked this afternoon needs some skills in dealing with people. Although smoking on a Segway seemed to be her forte' at 5:45 in the afternoon today 4/9/2021.Cheryl C.

The guy at the store John collier has extremely poor communication skills and shouldn't have a job dealing with people. Completly rude when ordering and also charged my card for an "after hrs" drop off after I had done the drop off online and at a store location that says open 24hrs.... my truck was dropped off 12hrs early and I was charged for it!Jakob L.

Have more signs that are clear to see. I returned my equipment and I was the 3 rd one and I had to get out and walk up to the sigh to see what it said and then I didn't see anyone around. So I went inside to find someone. Then I had to walk back out to have the equipment inspected and then I could leave.Tracy J.
The store had no employees inside when I first entered. I waited a few seconds looked around for someone, walked back outside and spoke to a person who was just reporting to work. They ended up helping me and were very friendly. It was a little strange waking into the store with no employees there. Seems high risk. Just thought you'd like to know. After moving my stuff in, about a month later we went to check on it and it was infested with roaches, in which we were told we had to treat ourselves. When moving out we had set a arrangement up to move our stuff out a few days after the rent was due but we explained we had to go out of state for a funeral and they were fine with it. When we went to move our stuff out they “had no recollection of the conversation “ and forced us to pay a months worth of rent that we weren’t going to use. The owner/manager John is NEVER there. Location needs more than one person at the front desk at times. 3 stations with only one person running it. Like this both visits. Auto transports need a diet as the new Silverado's squat heavily with it, even more so with a 2000 pound civic loaded.Nathan T.

First start of by not renting a truck under false pretenses. I was told the truck was just cleaned and is ready for renting. I get in the truck and it's totally disgusting. Not recently cleaned by any means. Don't appreciate being lied to in order to obtain a sale on a rental. Never will I again use this location. Or if I do I won't associate with the liar that rented me the truck. Totally disappointed.Nicholas N.

Reimbursement for gas that is over what it was rented with. I got it with a quarter tank and returned with almost 3/4 of a tank with no reimbursement for the gas.Joanna F.

The trailer was filthy and full of deep snow. As big as that building is I would think you could store them inside. If i was moving furniture then it would have been ruined. The old mans face mask was too tight apparently because he asked me 4 times YES 4 freaking times if I was bringing the trailer back here. I was like " do you have dementia?" I am not impressed. Today I'm feeling sick with a headache and stuffy nose sinus drainage so I'm sorry if I'm not my happy fake self.Julie B.

the staff at uhaul are the rudest people in the world ... the only person there that was amazing was Teresa she was very helpful and a blessing to uhaul... and an amazing person ... wish all the staff at uhaul would take a class from her on how to treat people... I dont understand in this point in time with everything going on ... I lost my job cause of the covid and got two months behind. went I with a month payment and the guy that was working would not take my month payment ... he said I need to pay the two months I was behind ... I would recommend this place to a friend, but tell them to never call because no one ever answers the phone. I spent going on 3 hours trying to cancel my storage unit because i didn't have the time to go over to the office. I have a half inch gap in my sternum with over a dozen broken ribs which make it hard to breath anyway.
