There was an 7 day wait from the time the U-boxes got to Kingsport to our new home which was only 10 miles away. But the delivery driver was exceptional and made the extra week of sleeping on the blow up mattresses tolerable. And customer service has improved immensely .Bonnie M.
Currently, the storage passes are setup to logout the customer when the individual unit is closed. It would be nice to make it that way a certain amount of time after, but card-out would be faster so that we can re-open without alarms going off or having to go all the way back out to card back in if we have closed the unit.Eric B.

Charged $25 for cleaning - was cleaner than when I picked it up.CHARLES F.
Due to Covid, the website suggested doing online check- in and pre-pay. We did that. Was supposed to save time and less contact when we picked truck up. My husband had to go in any way; online check in didn't make a difference. They tried to charge him an extra $100 for the truck and dolly. We pre-paid with a credit card online. When he came out after checking in; he couldn't find which truck or exactly where it was; location of parking space was not made clear to him. Walked almost the whole lot to find the right space. It ended up being the furthest from the building. Could have someone to take the person renting the equipment to where it is; instead of having to look all over for it. If the equipment that is farthest away from the buildings is what the customer is going to be getting, you could provide a golf cart ride to it. Golf cart was available because there was a lady riding on one but didn't offer to give my husband a ride to the truck he was picking up. After he found the truck, he then had to go back to the check-in office and get the dolly that he rented. What should have taken 5-10 minutes to get truck and dolly, took us about 45 minutes Truck should have been parked close to check-in office and dolly already loaded on it. The truck was older and steering was awful. It had about 2 inches of â€œplayâ€ in it. They supposedly had â€œnewerâ€ trucks available. Also with Covid, did NOT look or feel like it had been cleaned and sanitized. ðŸ˜¡ Will have to think about using Uhaul for next move!! ðŸ˜©ðŸ˜¡Timothy D.

I reserved the smallest truck available which was a 10ft one. I had very little to move so I required the smallest. The day of pick up, I was informed that only a 26ft truck was available. I voiced my concerns about driving such a big truck multiple times to multiple staff members. It was extremely challenging for me to maneuver in parking lots and delivering the truck to a u-haul facility. The man at the delivery facility was extremely kind and understanding.Audra B.

First of all the employees from customer service and the Kingsport Location need to know how the pricing is for your equipment and inform the customer that if you go more than 20 miles away you will be charged for it. I was charged $41.40 for the mileage and $39.95 for the rental charges. None of that was brought to our attention neither that we were going to be charged for the big truck because the truck We requested was not available today 4/8/2021. Now let me remind you that we were there on 4/7/2021 requesting for the regular size truck & car dolly but they didn't have it available. We were quoted $19.99 for a regular size truck and $54.00 for the car dolly. I was charged $161.57 and I paid $180.00 and got some change back. Customer service was also called on 4/7/2021 and they said I would be charged approximately $175.00 for that day and if we brought the truck back to the same store we would get $100 back because we paid cash. We were told we didn't have to bring the truck back until the following day at 8:30a.m. We left in the truck @ 8:42 a.m and returned it by 1:30 p.m. The vehicle in tow was a 1996 Chevrolet S-10, not a 2002.. And the rental truck was refilled back up to 1/2 tank. I don't see how we were not reimbursed the $100 as told by Customer Service. This is what we were told, and there was 3 others there listening to the conversation, and it was recorded. We deserve our $100 back as told on 4/7/2021. The woman that set my contract up had a terrible attitude and messed my contract up twice. The first time she charged me for two days when I CLEARLY said 24 hours, she had to refund me and do a new order which was still messed up, saying I was returning the truck at 7pm, so I got a very nasty, hateful phone call in the early morning after spending the previous evening moving complaining that my truck wasn't returned and was very rude, one of the men that work there was top notch however, and I find it inconvenient that I'll have to work with him specifically to make sure to avoid terrible people. The name on my contract was Elihu Kiser but I did not catch her name specifically. If Elihu Kiser was the man that set my reservation I apologize for the name drop, he was great and very helpful. She has apparently been there for a long time but needs new training on listening to the customer and general customer service skills, including polishing her horrific attitude. I have never had a problem out of the Bristol Tn branch but unfortunately had a bad experience the first time I visited the Kingsport one. I love the UHaul service and expect a better quality of service from ALL employees next time.John G.

Kelly at this location would not honor a certificate for $50. When asked about it she lied and said she didn't get the number from my online reservation. Please put information on YOUR website that trailers cannot be picked up via the online check-in. we sat outside for almost 20 minutes trying to figure out what we were doing wrong. Then, when we get inside, we're informed that we have to come in. That's not right. We did the extremely painful online check-in recently for a 24' truck, and thought it would get easier the 2nd time. not so. The people at the Kingsport U-Haul acted as if they were too busy to help me. It seemed as if I was bothering them. After making my reservation for a trailer, they tell me it would only be available if it was there. Wait! What? I make a reservation but it might not be there? This is no way to do business.....very unprofessional. If I reserve a trailer or a truck I expect it to be there on the reserved date. Fortunately a representative in Knoxville, TN, helped me and things went much smoother. The people at my pickup point in NC were very helpful and vouteoys. My return point in kingsport was not a pleasant experience. When I returned with the trailer I pulled it to the designated return point where there was a sign that said to wait there with your rental equipment. I waited 20 minutes and no one ever came to assist me. So I proceeded to go inside and find someone to assist for returning the trailer. I wasnt expecting to have to roll the dollies myself all the way to section dd. I guess I could have came back and picked them up . We are seniors and our kids were doing all the lifting. We had a hard time getting the dolly in the truck. I believe the lady said she was leaving and was training someone else. I had my kids pick up the truck the last time. I guess that was a learning experience for me! All in all was satisfied with the equipment.Maria N.

Me and my husband rented a 15 foot uhaul for 3 days and returned it in the night of the Second day and filled the gas back up and returned it clean and they said we still owed them money would not recommend at all.Crystal R.
I loved it until I no longer needed my unit. I'd call and get no answer or be in hold for an hour. Finally get ahold of someone a few days later and she said she would cancel the unit. I brought the truck back refuel, checked my account the next day and was charged $148 for fuel. I had to call for a refund. The gas I put back in the vehicle costed me $12. Although the representative was very helpful throughout the refund process I spent unwarranted time. Also when I picked the truck up the pictures they had of the truck were far away and I spent 30 minutes taking pictures of scratches and dents before leaving the parking lot so that I wouldn't be charged for those damages. I just feel like too much time was spent with uhaul for what should have been an easy experience. Moving is different and stressful enough without dealing with those issues. There are too many competitors out there. I do not and will not recommend uhaul.Lana M.

It took me 30 minutes to check in because the system would not take my credit card...we tried 3 different credit cards. Finally, I suggested they try another terminal. The truck reeked of air freshener. I know you want to keep your trucks sweet smelling, but this was over the top! Back off on the scents. The truck leaked. I know you have a disclaimer stating your trucks are water resistant, not water proof, but I had a mattress that got soaking wet because the truck leaked. We had the charges for our storage units automatically charged to our credit card. After the credit card was automatically charged, we received emails that our payment was late and we were being charged a late fee. This happened multiple times, first on two of the units we rented and also on a third storage unit. I spoke with the staff in person twice and on the phone once. Even after this, I received another email that our account was being charged a late fee. Even though our credit card was never charged for a late fee, it was very annoying getting these emails. I'm also concerned that it could have effected my credit rating. I was satisfied with the storage units, however, the billing system leaves a great deal to be desired.JAMES F. | Overall Experience

The layout is different than other controlled climate units we have had in the past, so would serve well for first time customers to be shown where there unit were. Great facility, a wonderful repurposing of a former Kmart location. As we were relocating we needed a climate controlled storage facility to house items we didn’t want handled by movers until we could get into our new home. This facility was perfect for our needs- secure, convenient, cost effective, a trusted brand, and we loved the garage bays to pull our vehicles in for loading and unloading. I came in after reserving a unit online. The only issue I had was the 1st unit was not the correct size. I had reserved a 10x10 but was given a 5x10. It was corrected right away and I had no other issues. We would definitely recommend U-Haul at 1805 East Stone Drive in Kingsport, TN - this is an excellent use for the former KMart location. We were able to buy reasonably priced moving supplies (boxes, tape, etc.), rent moving vans, & store our furniture in one place. The storage facility is clean, well lit & very convenient to load/unload furniture. We were also able to purchase propane gas for our fireplace in our new home. The staff is friendly & very helpful. My husband had just arrived after using a U-haul 6x12 trailer from Oregon to Tennessee. I called the prior day to confirm my reservations and finalize the details after ordering a storage unit two weeks ago. The details were not actually confirmed and he was met with an attitude from the person at the counter. The U-haul site manager was nearby but did t offer assistance. My husband had to interrupt my workday to have me again finalize the details. I’m less than satisfied with the way he was treated and after my agreed upon three month storage will be seeking alternate arrangements. This is disappointing. The U-Haul I dealt with in Sherwood Oregon was fantastic. Setting up everything for me so all I had to do was call and finalize the details. I wouldn’t have minded providing those details again, but there is a manner in which you treat people. My husband had just driven 2600 miles in four days.
