Needs bigger docks for moving in and out. Longer docks would be nicer
michael w | First ImpressionsI went into U-Haul on Ceder Street Helena, MT personally. When I talked to the representative there, He personally assured me that the truck I was renting would pull a trailer with a small van on it. He assured me that it had a 2 5/16 inch ball on it and there was a place on the bumber to put another ball. When I got there the next day, he told me I needed a bigger truck, and it had the ball I needed. When I got to my location, the truck did not have the right ball, nor could I find anywhere to put one on. When I got back to the store, He showed me where I could put a Receiver Hitch on. This might have worked except for 2 reasons: 1. I was not told I would need to bring one and He couldn't provide one, 2. Even if I had brought a receiver, the hole for the receiver was 18 inches deep. Also tghere was nowhere for me to put the retaining pin, In my belief it was unusable. I am not pleased at all with your product or your service.

KRIS EI was issued a late charge while on auto pay, which doesn't make much sense, since I had well over $4,000 in my account at the time. The office staff wasn't able to fix this. I had to come back 2 days later, ehen a manager would be on site, to get this resolved. I moved my belongings out of the facility in order to prevent this from reoccurring.

There were a couple of times over the six months that we wished that the unit was available later in the evening, but acknowledged there has to be a little give and take to provide enhanced security. We would definitely use this facility again for future storage needs.

Kristi SI'm giving below average grade because these guys need to learn to read a fuel gauge. Don't tell the customer that the tank is 7/8 full when the gauge reads between 3/4 and 7/8. In the end, it cost me even more money to put more gas in that I received. Not good customer service.

FRANK ECharge by 24 hr period, and not calendar day. I had the trailer for less than 24 hrs but was charged for 2 days of rental. That is criminal.

MICHAEL BTruck was parked at absolute opposite end of large lot. Sunshade/advertisement was still in the window. Snow/ice had not been scraped from windshield or mirrors. Rear door/step had not been cleared of snow. Had to do all of that myself before leaving.

EARL EThe first van we rented did not appear to be cleaned and we drove off and noticed a burnt out headlight. They did switch us to another van which was clean. We were told they knew that the headlight was burnt out for two weeks. You can buy a bulb at an auto parts shop on the spot.

MARLAN OThere was chocolate like from somebody eating chocolate all over the steering wheel. I think my biggest complaint is the fact that my ABS light came on this slippery road sign came on they came out and cleaned the sensors and said it would be fine get back on the highway they come back on again now when the slippery you went the truck tends to sway in different directions I did not make a second report about it I turned the truck in but I feel like this should have been taken care of at the time I reported it.

JEFFREY RWhen shipping pods from Ohio to Montana, it was very difficult to get location status. U-Haul uses 3rd party transport and there is NO communication between uhaul & delivery. Pods delivered from Ohio to Montana were not delivered on time causing a lot of stress. This is not fault of uhaul in MT, but Uhaul Corporate overall. Second your phone system communication is horrible. When I could not use the uhaul app a phone call was needed and you have to listen to the repetitive prompts several times before talking to a human. Very time consuming! Once you finally get through everyone I spoke to this past year has been great.

We are very grateful for their assistance and guidance in getting our move underway. We arrived to our cross country destination without incident, and we are thankful for everything that they did to help us to make our move a SAFE and easy journey.

HANNAH BI called in on my 2nd day to ask about the price of my rental and how much it would cost to keep and continue moving. I was told nothing! Now I’m an $517.00 in the hole in my account. I will NEVER use U-Haul again! Explain the fees associated during a move. It’s already expensive enough to move an entire home 4 hours away, but to find out it cost me a $1000 just to move 4 hours away with the “help” of U-Haul!!!! NEVER AGAIN, thank you very much for your hidden fees and no correspondence

DAVID SThe use of your mobile app is ridiculous. You have no internet available at the site location that is consistent. During a call to your support we were cut off because your internet dropped the call. I had to wait 2 hrs for the store to open to get help with the locks that take maneuvering to open. Will not go there again. Nice place though.
William FI reserved 2 28’ u-hauls within a 30 day period. I was told there was a one way military discount. I’m still awaiting the discount on both rentals. While the 1st u-haul was clean and without issue. The advance trac / ABS system was broke and did not allow the cruise control to work for my 460 mile trip on the second rental. Poor experience either way without

The alarms were going off in the building for the entire 2 hours we were unloading and the young man had no idea what to do or how to fix the issue. A second man provided me 6 different access cards that did not work properly before finally providing the correct card to the facility.

This would had prevented customer's difficulty in first attempt. Customer believed it was the unit instead and so asked for a different unit. Second unit was dustier with cobwebs. Staff did not address this. Customer had same difficulty with locking unit into place. Other Tip: Staff needs to know more about what they sell. When customer asked if "I would be dinged if I rent for only one month," staff replied by saying, "I don't know." This is a good company, with more than likely a good manager. Yet my experience was shaped by staff that did not demonstrate a skill set of product knowledge and customer helpfulness.

Danielle H | First ImpressionsMy last two weeks there the garage area was filthy! Black ash/charcoal stuff was everywhere, someone contact lenses, nails and screws and metal hardware all over the floor, it was just a mess. I was there at 7 a.m. and the first one there, so this had been left from the day before and the following day the mess was less but still there. The hall was pretty clean. The lighting is a bit freaky when you are alone in the back side hall. It flips off and you have to go out and move about to get the lights back on. Access is a definite issue for me, I was there at 6 a.m. and the garage did not open until someone was in the office at 7 a.m which made things harder. The sliding door appeared stuck open for three days. When I rented, I was told I could access anytime and instead I found out I could only access when the office was opened. However * see below*. Sunday I had to wait until the office opened to even get in my unit. I was there at 6 a.m. and then at 7 a.m. and still no access I came back at 9 and could finally get in. Using the garage is dicey. It is lick of the draw. I pulled up and some camping/moving van, which the next day I saw parked in the parking lot, sat in the garage for 4 and 1/2 hours or better. I got there at 1 it was there and came back at 5 and it was still there. Both garages had the same vehicles in them and the next morning that ash/charcoal stuff was everywhere. I will say prior to this one experience it was usually clean. My biggest issue was the rent increase and not able to access unit. * Seeing the sliding door wide open for three days was not the most comforting. It explains the access issue, if that is the case well done uhaul. Yes, inconvenient but shows they care and are aware there was a door issue and that they have an eye on people's property entrusted to them in the units. The staff is great. The check out guy was amazing. Very personable and eager to help. Clay waited on me several times and was awesome. The young gal when I first got the unit not so great. I saw the mouse bait box so I asked is there a mice infestation. The unit I had in Idaho while I was in college; had a mice infestation and I swore never again, so after seeing that box - I am going to ask and she got huffy and said "well this is montana". A simple no its a precaution would have been enough, did not need or appreciate the snark. Overall I think it is a great place to have a unit, it is a bit pricey, which is why I left, that and access. I needed to upgrade and the price I was paying for a 5x7, when I went somewhere else that I could access unit 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. and it is indoor climate controlled. Went into a 5x10 that is cheaper than the Uhaul 5x7. Suggestions I could give is add more garages on the end by the post office. That back hall is a ways away and it is creepy back there. Change access to the swipe card to get to use garage, instead of access garage and then swipe card, it would allow for access beyond the office hours.
