The unit had an oily substance on it that got on my car’s tire. But the most egregious issue was that the attendant sent me out with the trailer wiring defective. The turn signal wiring was reversed in the trailer. When I signaled left, the right turn signal on the trailer was activated. And when I signaled right, the left turn signal on the trailer was activated. The attendant knew this and did not bring it to my attention at the time I picked up the trailer. I find this criminal and intend to bring this up with corporate management.

KIMBERLY MLocation is strategically placed in a nice community plus they were very insightful in Military travel and were very cooperative, even when store closing hours were approaching, they pushed on a vehicle and trailer for me before calling it for the day which i was very thankful about.

BRENT AThe guys that helped me today were top notch. I was acknowledged through the door and let known that they were busy and assisting other customers right now, and would get to me ASAP. Even though you could tell they were task saturated, they seemed unfazed. Highly recommend instead of hiring another person, give them a good raise or bonus. Good employees that work hard and get the job even though their short staffed deserve that. Unless they’d rather have more help… but I say reward them for keeping your business run smoothly.

MICHAEL OThe truck we rented had no heat. our travels took us from Oceanside California to Eugene Oregon. this means traveling through the Pass. Snow. with no heat we had to bundle in blankets and socks on the hands. WORSE and more dangerous is that with the heat out the front window continued to fog over. wiping the windows the whole way so we could see. cannot roll down windows due to already freezing. At drop off we informed them on the issue. They "downed the truck" and advised we call GOUHAUL. when doing this the lady asked me if we called roadside assistance. this would have cause us more danger than good. told her it was not an option. we just kept moving forward. we drove from 2am through the day. This was not an acceptable vehicle to rent out and put my family in danger. I asked for this to be discounted and was advised to wait. Have not heard a word, email or reduction in cost.
FABIAN LI contacted to have the trailer returned to the Vista California location. I was informed by a rude lady that the trailer needed to be returned to Oceanside location because Vista was now not taking trailers. This caused my to spend $25 in diesel to go 40 Mike's round trip out of my way. If I can't depend on Uhaul to keep to a legal agreement I'll take mine and my business to a competitor that will keep a legal agreement.
MARK FI never got my receipt emailed with my final subtotal:-( The guy said he sent it but I never received it.
MILES DI needed to transport a 12 foot dog kennel. I was told to get a 15 foot truck. Sadly, the floor of the truck was only 12 feet and I was unable to close the door of the car. Sounds a little bit like bait and switch I paid paid for a 15 foot truck that is really only 12 feet. It caused a lot of problems for me.

ALYSSA PThere were some negative moments. 1. I added 2 utility dollies to the order in advance, but they were not there, after a few minutes the worker found only 1 for us. This complicated the work on the move. 2. The oil can icon was on the dashboard of truck. 3. During the return of the truck there was not enough space to take pictures from all sides.

ANDREWWILFRED AThe fuel chart provided to me, directing that I fill the tank up to the level it was when I checked out the vehicle, was inaccurate. I had about 3/4 a tank of gas when I left. When I got to the gas station next to the U-Haul location to refill, I was at a half tank. According to the chart, I was supposed to put 8 gallons of gas to fill to the previous level. But the gas stopped at 7.3 gallons, and I had filled the tank to full. So I ended up paying $15-20 more than I needed to because the chart was inaccurate. I’d like to get that money refunded.

PAUL FThe UHaul website where you make your reservation completely SUCKS. The biggest issue is when you select your pick up and drop off locations, those are just a “request.” I didn’t get either of mine and wound of driving a long way to an inexperienced outlet for pick up, and then had to make 7 phone calls to get the drop off that I originally “requested” in my reservation because the one they assigned me, which wasn’t close, was f’ing CLOSED on the day I needed to drop it. To top it off, the ridiculous amount of upscale questions is annoying. I’ve been renting UHaul for literally 40 years last August. They are really the only game in town for this service, but the service has sure gone downhill over the last 40 years.

LEO CI was unable to leave at 6:30 as requested because another U-Haul truck was blocking the exit. I rented a trailer from a different location, but I couldn’t return it to the same location as the truck drop-off. As a result, I had to drive an additional 10 miles, doubling my time, and was charged for the extra mileage as well.

DANNY SPrior to drop off, we experienced an issue with the truck that made it inoperable. We had put in a roadside assistance call, and they continuously asked for pictures of our load in the truck. We knew that the issue with the truck did not, and would not, require a whole new truck be dispatched, so their persistence in asking for pictures of our stuff was outright annoying. Their reasoning for wanting pictures, was to "estimate the number of employees" needed to help load/unload the haul, but they did not understand that we were in the middle of nowhere, 3000 miles from home, and did not feel comfortable with everything we own in a budget hotel parking lot in the middle of the night. The roadside assistance employee was persistent in her request in asking for pictures of what we had, rather than finding a mechanic to solve the issue. When a mechanic was finally found, the closest one they could find was over 2 hours away. This resulted in us having to stay up way later than we planned, after driving 5 plus hours that day already, and being thoroughly exhausted from a 5 day trip at that point. When the mechanic did finally come out, we automatically knew that a repair was not occurring that evening, even though we had provided pictures from every angle and tried to be as descriptive as possible in the maintenance request. We then had to wait until roughly 10 am the next day for the mechanics to show to fix the issue. Even though we were told it was a relatively quick fix, it took over 2 hours, and we had to have a late check out from our hotel. Overall, this resulted in us being extremely delayed in getting to our final destination. We had to move an already planned appointment with our housing department to the following day. Additionally, the amount of "check ins" we received from uhaul during the repair, was extremely annoying. I understand the policy to check in and ensure the customer is being taken care of, but having a phone call every 30 minutes, while also worrying about your rental repair, and taking care of a family, was overkill. The phone calls got progressively more unprofessional, and rude as well. The check ins should have been conducted yes with the customer, but also mainly with the mechanics, as they better understand how long the process should take. Regarding the drop off location: The only good thing it had going for it, was the pull in station for rental equipment. There was no other available parking spots for other customers, and every turn was extremely tight. Getting out of the location was also proven to be a hassle. The staff, however, was very kind and welcoming, and it was a good introduction to California hospitality. I kindly request a callback concerning the issues we encountered over our rental time period.
WILLIAM KDisappointed with the quality of this truck as the driver side door could not shut properly and it was very difficult to remove the key from the ignition when parked. Also disappointed with only a 1/4 tank of gas upon pickup when I had a 200 mile round-trip ride ahead of me.

Also, the 2nd level units had chicken wire as a ceiling which was weird to me. I feel like if someone wanted to, they could’ve fished things out of my unit undetected if they were motivated to do it. When initially purchasing the unit, I was told I couldn’t pre-pay for the 6-ish months that I planned to rent for but upon downloading the U-Haul app it became apparent that I could prepay for the upcoming months.
