The customer service was great. However, the truck I was given felt almost unsafe to drive. It struggled to accelerate, the handling was poor, and the wheel felt loose. It is the first time I was unhappy with the truck I was assigned.

At first, the person checking me in tried to charge me a late fee. I had to go in an speak with the manager on duty to get that fixed. I am now reviewing my emailed receipt, and I was charged $25 for fuel charge stating it was at 1/4 of a tank. The fuel level was between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank. Exactly where it was when I picked it up. You know how hard it is to return a truck in between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank? This location is just trying to add false items for extra money.

Ordered a van for 630, they didn't have a key for us. Had to wait til 7 when they opened to get a key. Didn't leave the property till 730-745. I don't understand why offer early pickup if it's not possible. A majority of the staff was friendly and helpful, except for one lady who refused to help me with a question.

I worked with a young Caucasian man. He must of been having a bad day. He was saying I can’t wait for my shift to be over. He did not respect me as a Hispanic, lesbian. It’s like they had no idea we were coming. Everyone there seem confused and then angry because they had to move several cargo vans to get to ours. Then, the manager or supervisor told us it was because we used the app to reserve. The app worked fine. This location didn’t seem to know what they were doing and were quite confused.

This was an incredibly stressful move for me, I swear I had multiple breakdowns. But coming to this U-Haul location to find MY BELOVED CAR as well as my U-Box in perfect condition, with a very nice gentleman to help me out, was honestly a real blessing. However, the U-Box did not fit everything, and I ended up (last minute) having to rent a U-Haul truck to fit the rest of my belongings and drive across the country. So that was not ideal, in any way.

I am writing to report a serious safety issue regarding a truck I recently rented. As a long-time customer who uses U-Haul for both business and personal needs, I was disappointed that this vehicle was cleared for use.
Shortly after leaving the lot, I noticed the passenger-side mirror was loose. When I stopped to adjust it, I discovered the hinge had been wrapped in plastic wrap. Despite my attempts to secure it, the mirror shifted every time I hit a bump, eventually making it impossible to see anything on my right side. This created a dangerous blind spot while traveling at 60 mph on the expressway. I had to stop several times to readjust the mirror and required a second person to assist me during the return trip. This experience was incredibly stressful and caused significant delays, which contributed to my after hours arrival time.
When I returned the vehicle, I informed the dealership of these issues. While the front desk clerks were responsive, the manager did not seem to take my complaint seriously or offer to inspect the vehicle.
I am sharing this feedback in the hope that you will follow up with the location to ensure this truck is properly repaired before it is rented to another customer.

I had two truck rentals on the first day, and both experiences were outstanding.
Veronica Schacke assisted me with my first rental. She was efficient, asked all the right questions, and made sure we had everything we needed for our move. The process was smooth and professional from start to finish.
For the second rental, Justin Crespo helped me, and the experience was just as excellent. He was quick, thorough, and ensured all details were covered.
It’s clear that the training at this facility is exceptional because both interactions reflected consistent, high-quality service. Congratulations to Michael Rodriguez for managing such a great location.

The truck died on us upon getting to moving location. However, customer service was wonderful and a tow truck was able to come out in an hour's time to get the truck jump started so we could bring it back. Pick up was seamless and so was drop off, once we were able to get the truck in running condition to return.

I’ve rented many times without issue. This most recent time I rented a cargo van for a day. Drove less than 8 miles. Put a gallon of gas into van and when I went to return they wanted to charge me for 3 gallons of gas because the gas wasn’t a 7/8. This is a scam and unethical. The kid said he was just following policy but couldn’t explain how 7 miles driving would consume 4 gallons of gas. Less than 30 minutes driving as the van was mostly parked. Fill up your tanks before renting versus trying to divide a 31 gallon tank by 8 and having your workers eyeball it. Waste of my time.

I had an excellent experience at the Cicero & Montrose location. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Brian. I had accidentally made my reservation at a different location. He told me what to do with the existing reservation, set me up with a new reservation, gave me instructions, and sent on my way in no time. Vehicle return was quick and easy. We rent cargo vans from you regularly however this time the van I received was filthy. There was so much mud on it that a big pile of dirt and mud fell off when I pulled the vehicle into our building. I was also told that I started with a full tank of gas, but took a photo showing it was just slightly above 3/4 so my colleague could show the staff when we returned. Overall, we like this location and have had great service, but this latest experience fell below our expectations.

1. Five-star customer service from the team that works directly on site. They are very customer focused and very helpful with a smooth check in and check out process.
2. Bad reservation experience. I have rented from another location (close to me) in the past. The system allowed me to reserve at location A, but 24 hours later they changed to another site further away at location B. What doesn’t make sense is that when I drove by location A, there were still 2 trucks available and not used. Go figure.
3. The change in location resulted in me having to Uber to the new location at an additional cost of $25
4. The previous person who rented the truck spilled gasoline in the back of the truck. I requested a new truck but they could not change or give me a different truck. My items ended up smelling like gasoline and it was dangerous having to move items while inhaling those fumes. This particular truck should not be rented in the future until the gasoline has been fully remediated.

The storage units were not as big as we expected. Some people may need support in choosing the right unit size for them.
Also sometimes people block the storage unit ramp entrance when returning their U-Haul trucks. They need to be aware that others need access to these units outside of office hours.

Staff was friendly and helpful in getting the storage unit and truck backed up to where we could unload however I was blocked in by another vehicle before I was finished and couldn’t leave to fill up the truck. Access ramp to storage is narrow and would not be forgiving to inexperienced drivers, would recommend an easier facility to get into.

You do not have enough staff to meet demand. I was in line for 30 mins to check in plus the actual process. It was packed with people. The clerks could not keep up 1 customer after another and constant 10 people in line. They were very professional and tried to do best they could. Training for phone calls would help too. No one should be left on hold for 30 min without as much as a “sorry for the inconvenience” checkin.
This happened multiple times too. And what’s with dodging calls entirely and sending to UHaul customer care who just has to do the same thing.

The manager Mike as well as the rest of the staff Keyomi, Lou etc go out of their way to make sure you have all your moving needs in place. As far as the moving truck, packing supplies and storage unit that is an appropriate size for your belongings. I highly recommend this facility. And feel the security makes a woman who needs to go into a unit at any time of the day feel safe.

I purchased a storage unit, the initial employee who set up my account was AMAZING! I was on auto pay-had the storage paid successfully until March 2022 which is when I decided I will take out my belongings. I spoke to a woman who removed me off auto payment, she understood that I was closing my account, she advised me to come in get my things and we can take care of payment. I still had a few questions so I called two days after my billing date, a gentlemen I spoke with was so rude to me, he ends up arguing with me about billing. I reiterated that the money didn't matter, I'm trying to understand how the process works for closing a storage unit---he still wants to argue with about the MONEY?!?! I was a good standing patient on AUTO PAY! My point is treating me less than a great customer is unacceptable especially in customer service. After our call I was charged for the Unit and a late fee after (conversations recorded correct?) I specially asked to settle my bill upon my arrival because i was still confused regarding the process of closing a unit. Which was never answered!!! BTW
The audacity! Also, that same day I was also locked out of my storage that same day-this isn't over.

Very clean facility with good accessibility. We had trouble resolving at least two issues (over a 7 month period) via telephone and emails. Emails were unanswered. Tried calling multiple times at different times and calls were unanswered, eventually bounced to call center in AZ, where staff referred us back to facility, which we could not contact other than showing up in person. This was difficult as we were out of town, and was a frustrating experience. Other than that, the facility met our needs.

I can’t complain too much the location was very clean, i would just recommend for the lights on the timers to be on longer we were in the storage unit and the lights kept going off on us. I would also recommend better signage on truck returns we ended up going to the wrong side to return the truck and had to go all the way around to bring it in the right side. When I was returning the storage unit another family did the same thing so I’m sure it’s an on going issue

When I made the reservation I was told I 'd get a dolly but when I got there ... I was told with almost maniacally by the man that they didn't have any ! Like he got some sort of thrill out of it !
But that's peanuts compared with the out right lie that I'd get a locker on the first floor
I'm almost 62 and am on SSI with a misaligned spine , high blood pressure and diabetes.
I
But when I got there I was told it was on the 2' ND floor and would have to c arry my boxes and bins up one flight,across a tier,down the stairs,up a flight of stairs and down another tier !
I had to go to another facility who accommodate d me professional y and without a problem.
I am filing a complaint with the BBB and with the Illinois attorney general office for fraud not to mention the appropriate socal media not to use your corporation for anything what's so ever

I was not ever told that there is a few for 24 hour storage so when I got there it took about 30 minutes to even get to the point where I had access to the storage. I have an upstairs unit and the ramp up is impossible. Spent over an hour trying to get my UHaul and trailer back down off of it. I had to use the restroom in the facility and someone was there listening to music, sounded like a party. It was overall just way too much for me.

There was a single employee present and a long wait to be helped. Once I was assisted during checkout the employee was so rushed that he couldn't process my transaction properly. He offered no information on how to access my unit. I attempted to access on my own immediately after being checked out and I was unable to access any of the doors. I returned to ask why and found out he never processed the transaction. I then had to wait again for the single employee to come back from 'hooking up a trailer' which was partly true, the smoke break being the other.. Then this employee was unable to read credit card numbers on his own, I had to repeat phone numbers and card numbers repeatedly over 10 mins for him to finally be able to actually process the purchase of the unit. I then had to ask him multiple questions on how to access, where the unit was located, etc. as he offered no detail proactively.

I explained my storage needs to a young lady who attended to me, in which I let her know and showed her one of the bikes i needed to store. for one there weren't any storage space that could accommodate my need, except for on the top floor of the building and the rest were to small. She had told me that the space I finally settled on only had four steps leading to the space, when it was actually 4 flights of stairs making it totally impossible for me to get my items to the space since there aren't any elevators. Seems to me she needs to understand the layout of the facility a bit more, Info was deceptive and I left very dissatisfied.

This facility has an extremely poor layout. In order to access the unit, you have to climb a super steep ramp that ends in a tiny landing. Good luck getting a moving truck up there. How is there no elevator?!? I rented a unit and then immediately moved out.

Veronica was very polite and helpful. She even gave me a water bottle after I asked if there was a Coke machine. (I was extremely thirsty after moving everything into the facility on a warm, humid day.) My only suggestion for the facility would be to put in a little ramp of concrete to cover the big bump at the threshold between the parking lot and the indoor storage facility. There's a big bump whether you go through the large garage door or through the small door next to it. This makes it difficult to push a fully loaded cart over that bump and into the building. Otherwise, it was a smooth experience!

I went to drop off my stuff on the storage only to be blocked off by all the Trucks, so I had no access to the drive up ramp not only that but, there was a lock on my storage unit that I did not have the key to so I couldn’t take anything in it even if I wanted to. Had to come back the next morning to unload.
