The staff was as helpful as possible in Rochester MN.Like many places right now they don't have enough help. They are doing their best and I appreciate that. However, my Uhaul experience overall has been negative in so many ways and I will NOT ever use their services again. I went the UBOX route estimating it to be most economical and convenient. I was hemorrhaging money by the time my boxes got back home. How can 2 boxes cost $2700 to ship from MN to CA, and almost 5k to ship back from CA to MN??? I was dumbfounded and livid. I got all sorts of answers from Uhaul-diesel is so expensive etc. Etc. In CA diesel is cheapest option! Had I any clue I would get gouged like that I would have rented a rival truck and saved an arm and a leg. Upon unpacking we are noticing items damaged-bent, broken,chipped- antique furniture, pictures, collectables, not too mention mouse droppings...beyond disapointed and disgusted. Apparently the extra fee I paid for "insurance" is completely useless...to the consumer anyway. How disheartening and frustrating is that?? Also, getting in touch with someone at Uhaul is a lesson in futility. You will be put on hold numerous times only to get disconnected or someone NOT in your location. I was charged for renting in a state I wasn't even in or going to, when I already had paid up over a month in advance in the state my boxes were being shipped to! All because a call center woman-Christine, was impatient and would not hear me out. Trying to undo that was another nightmare. And they won't pro-rate. 3 days or 30-its all the same to them. This whole ordeal has been grossly expensive, and highly confusing and frustrating. Never again.MARTY J.

The facility itself was clean. One of our storage units had some stuff leftover from the previous person. Cardboard, pictures, random small stuff but thankfully it wasn’t anything gross. The plastic mattress covers with handles to move mattresses that you sell broke very easy and ripped easily causing mattresses to fall on the ground and get dirtyCRAIG B.

1. The cost was higher than what I was originally quoted. 2. The gas take was only 1/4 full! Yet, we had t return it with a full tank. 3. Originally I was told we could pick up the truck at 6:30 am then found out we couldn't until 7 -which put our loading schedule off. Frustrating!jeanette F.

Improve staff, I waited over 15 min to pick up equipment and while waiting I notice the center wasn't clean and boxes needed to be unbundled to sell single ones. The girl finally showed up and was friendly and I asked if she was by herself and she said yes bc her manager was picking up items, he returned to the center with no items in hand and wasn't friendly at all. When we went to drop off at the same location we waited for almost an hour for someone to take the trailer off and finish the contract but we gave up and did it ourselves and left. Overall not a great experience. I don't recommend unless your wanting to do it yourself or wait for hours bc no one stays in the show room.CLARISSA P.

Individual U-haul employees did the best they could short-staffed, but I hope that the company improves their communication with customers. My recommendations are: 1. customers should have direct access to scheduling # instead of getting transferred from one customer service number 2. customers should be allowed to KNOW WHO THEIR MOVING COMPANY IS AND HAVE CONTACT INFO FOR IT (my subcontracted moving company had no website, no location on google maps, and opencorporates.com listed it as inactive so I truly thought my box was stolen with no way to talk to the company) 3. do not schedule a delivery if the box has not arrived at the u-haul facility. this happened to me twice and I wasted two days waiting When I managed to get a customer service rep on the phone they were very helpful, and my box arrived safe. I'm satisfied but after having to sleep on the floor for a week... I will not be using u-haul again.Amelia T.

Overall very clean but there was a fair amount of dust and dirt on the floor on one (out of 2) of my units. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars instead of 4.5. Other than that, it’s been great. Even being on the 3rd floor, the available flatbeds and wider elevator make it a lot more bearable and easier.Nicole K. | First Impressions

This was our first experience with renting storage, I paid 100 a month for 11 months.. Several months into our rental we went there to obtain our winter coats. MICE had gotten into everything! When we rented the unit the staff failed to put some rodent poison in our unit. I talked the guy into putting it in the unit when we discovered the mice. When we returned for rest of our items it was HORRIBLE. A live mouse was in our unit. They ate 6 winter jackets, ate into our leather couch and chair. Beautiful towels and home decor ruined. An area rug was filled with a nest and wet urine. Numerous notes are left in our account and staff aware but NO call yet from the general manager after 5 days of waiting, I certainly pray they plan to compensate for all of these damages. I have many pics as well as some of their staff took pics too. Devastating and very stressful. The truck was surprisingly old - with roll down windows & side mirrors that could only be adjusted manually. The check engine light was on. I was very surprised i was both charged by the mile AND had to replenish the gas.GWEN H.

The trucks 'check engine light was on' - I called the location they sent met to road side assistance and sat on hold for a total of 40 minutes. Continued my drive to Fargo ND, about 8 miles out of Fargo the "brake light' starts flashing. The driver side window was not set properly and made a horrible noise so had to leave the window open for the entire 300 mile drive.JAN N.

Through the course of this move, it was nearly impossible to reach somebody in the correct location. And I probably spent six hours on the telephone on hold trying to find out where my stuff was. The padlock on my Ubox was destroyed/damaged somewhere on route, and had to be cut off with a grinder and I was misinformed as to the dimensions of the box and door not allowing me to haul items I had planned on moving. There was also a fairly large miscommunication as to where the box would be delivered, I ended up having to drive myself to multiple locations to find the box then wait to have it re-loaded onto a trailer so I could take it home and return it. Charge trailer rentals per day, don't bill someone for 6 days of hauling when they are only using it for 3 days. It is a scam and will result in me never using your company again. I was billed $1500 for 6 days of hauling even though I told multiple staff members in-person and over the phone, that I would only need three days, this resulted in me paying ~$700 more than needed. This needs to be corrected if you want more business without people saying you are a scam and untrustworthy. My entire experience was unpleasant, you forced me to drive hours out of the way and refused to offer any discount, then billed me for 6 days of hauling even though I only needed 3. I've been disgusted lately with the lack of customer service with both local businesses and online businesses so you picked a good time to be great! Andy Hoye was fast, friendly, and wonderful. Tried to extend rental as our closing on our new house got pushed back 4 days and we already had everything in the truck. The people we spoke with were extremely rude to us just for asking.Jadyn H.
On return cars were parked in a line so making it difficult to make the turn in Uhaul lot to return the trailer to the appropriate place. The door spring was too powerful so door, latch & strap sucked up into ceiling. Spent 20 minutes trying to get it down. Called Uhaul for help but husband finally managed to pry it down. We used you guys before to move stuff to South Dakota and you never cost as much as you did. Went from like maybe $80 to 250 dollars that not right. I had found rice and pieces of fluff from something all over boxes and furniture I had in the unit when I started moving things back out of the unit. I then realized mice had been in there after I moved a basket of clothes to the house I moved into and found mouse droppings and a nest hidden on the middle of the clothes, as well as napkins, a bag of rice, and furniture chewed on to make a nest. Mouse droppings were also on multiple other items. There was a lot of confusion as the RV covering units were not numbered. It would be such an easy fix. Also the unit I had signed up for had another vehicle in it. So, I was given another one after the staff figured out which number that one was.
