The APP specifically stated the key was in the back of the truck. When it was not true and it was in the lock boxes on the building. The staff seemed surprised when approached about the issue. Seemed a little understaffed. I had a significant wait to pick up my truck at scheduled time. Staff was friendly and helpful but seemed distracted and rushed trying to do alot at once. Also extra items were not with the truck (blankets, dolly) so I had to come back to the buding and wait in line again to get the needed items that I had requested and been charged for.Laura M.

The truck we rented had issues with the engine/overheating. If we would've been moving any farther than across town this would have been really problematic. In the future, make sure that the trucks you rent out to customers are in good, working order.Aaron C.
Check in guy was great. But mobile check in did not work. Issues with not accepting the phone numbers. Truck itself was bad. Run down more than normal and has transmission issues shifting from 3rd to 4th and rough engine braking in the city. Check out was bad. Sign said to wait in the vehicle and someone would assist. Waited 10+ minutes. No one came out. Went in and they said they just needed the key. Need to change the sign or have those guys paying attention. Location itself is super nice and close.MATTHEW S.

The pickup location was switched on me by U-Haul at 10:30 a.m. on 07/30/22 and was 35 miles away from the original pickup location (despite the fact that I had specifically reserved a U-Haul truck at this location a month in advance on the move date). This forced me to cancel the two movers I hired since I could not get to the new pickup location and back to the moving location in time to use them. The U-Haul representatives were extremely rude and unprofessional. I will never use U-Haul again and will make it a point to give U-Haul negative reviews on every site possible.ERIK L.

Make it clear on the website when booking a reservation, that it may not be available at the time you need. I booked for an 11am truck at a location near me. The next day I got a call saying the only truck they had that I needed was available at 4pm at a different location. Also, the phone system should be set up better to make it easier to get through to a human.Margaret D.

I had an issue with this location from the day I picked my truck up. The truck still had trash and food left in it from the previous person. Then they tried to double charge me for the auto transport that I already had paid for previously. All this put me behind a whole day. The also told me that I would receive a refund for days not used then told customer service that I'm lying. I would never use U-Haul again!Travonna B.

Had to drive two hours away to get my U-Haul. Instead of driving 5 minutes away. I had it booked for two months in advance. Got charged for mileage when I had to drive the two extra hours. Also sold out of dollys that I had booked. There was no ac in the truck. It shakes if you go over 60 mph. Not this locations fault. But compensation for how dumb getting a uhaul went would be great.Connor N.

Leather recliner was stained with dye from blanket. Service in Waukee was excellent. Especially Dee! National service was a nightmare. I believe I was overcharged by u-Haul for delivery charges in Yuma that should have been removed. Initially u-Haul was going to deliver box; but ultimately Moving Help contractor picked it up, loaded it and returned it to Yuma storage awaiting transport to Waukee. Although the U-Haul delivery charge was to have been removed, it still showed up on my credit card.Liz K.

Vehicle drove poorly, felt like tie rod ends and an alignment was needed. Felt like I needed to take photos of the unit because it was beat up as I didn't want to get charged for items that had not been fixed. The brake rotors were also in poor condition as breaking was jerky when you are trying to be careful / slow to a stop light/sign. The documentation said it had a half tank of gas which it did not - I took a photo and returned it with more than a half tank. There was no-one at the the front desk when I went to pick it up, and they didn't seem to have my selections from online and asked the same questions over.Lance B.

I was very unsatisfied with my interaction over the phone when I needed to reschedule. The woman I spoke to was so deliberately unhelpful. She gave me no information on when my requested equipment was available, and instead just used trial-and-error on the website tool that I could have done myself, and made a point to sigh heavily between each time she asked me for another time to plug in. The staff member I interacted with during pickup was also unprofessional and rude. He kept openly belching during the checkout process, and when I asked about any available smaller trucks, he just rubbed his eyes and ignored my question altogether. The truck I received was unsafe. The passenger side rear outer wheel was completely bald and flat. Receiving the truck in this condition did not instill a lot of confidence in their maintenance in these trucks. I did not feel like my safety was their priority. It seemed like they're much more concerned with a quick turnaround of trucks.Bradley J.

Upon 1st arrival I was supposed to be able to do mobile pickup and the Uhaul mobile system was not functioning properly so I had to go into the building and wait for service. I waited inside for 15-20 minutes as one individual was on the phone and the other individual clearly had no customer service experience and made not only myself wait, but another party as well that was waiting while that individual was dealing with inventory such as boxes and putting stuff away on shelves. After waiting for service, the manager then got off the phone and assisted me with my reservation which just needed put through and a key handed to me. I then was provided details about the truck and where it was located and was told it had a full tank of gas. I took possession of the truck and then did the online check in to make sure the truck was not damaged, but missed the check on the gas. I drove away and then looked down and realized the truck was on 3/4 of a tank of gas, not full as they had advised it was before leaving the lot. I called back and the same individual that was reluctant to assist in the 1st place answered and said just take a picture of the gas guage and then they will just take care of it later. I took a photo and then returned the truck back, but filled it up in good faith to a full tank as it was the right thing to do. I then went into the building and the workers were busy and said that they can't help me to reimburse me for the difference of gas even though I in good faith put 35 dollars worth of gas into the tank for them. They said that they would check in the truck and take care of adjusting the gas to not charge me the full amount on my bill. I left thinking in good faith that they would do what they said they would do. Checked my invoice I received shortly later and it was not adjusted and I was billed the full amount with no discount or care at all. I then called them back and the employee said they have not ran the adjustment yet and it will be taken care of. That was several days ago and I have yet to receive anything and my bank statement still has the original amount and another amount billed as well for like 5 bucks more for mileage. At this point, I have rented from Uhaul on 63rd and Fuller road multiple times with no issues and the 1st time in the Waukee location and I am disappointed, dissatisfied, and will probably never be back even though I need to rent a truck several more times to finish my move. It would be great to be compensated for the screw up, but I won't hold my breath with this location/company as their word is not worth much even when they say they will do something, they don't. Suggestions would train your employees to care about taking care of your customers and to "follow through" with what they say they will do for your customers.Kyle G.

The below average rating is simply given to express my dissatisfaction with my most recent visit. It took me 45 minutes to complete a checkin for a trailer reservation that I already pre checked. One employee was completing â€œtrainingâ€ on one computer while another employee provided her the answers. I waited patiently for them to finish her â€œimportant testâ€ so the she could â€œkeep her job.â€. She was literally being provided the answers by another male employee. I attached my own trailer and went back in to remind them that they had to confirm the hookup with an image so that I would be able to electronically return the trailer after hours. On a previous visit the GM checked me in herself as the only employee at the location. I was checked out within 5 minutes without issue. More -actual- training for reliable employees would improve the experience for the employees as well as the customers. The location is clean and has provided for my needs thus far. The young woman who was working said everyone called in and she was the only one workingâ€¦ six people deep in line at 7:00am and she maintained her composure and pleasant demeanor the entire time. All in line were respectful and I heard no complaints. Once we got the truck and filled it, we proceeded to the storage unit. Once we arrived we had no idea what to do and there was no one at the desk at 3pm to help. I tried calling the customer service number and there was a 2HOUR WAIT TIME to speak with a representative. I opted for the call back and tried figuring it out on my own. First unit I was assigned was already rented. The associate said they would call me with a new storage unit number. Upon showing up Sunday night, we realized the second unit assigned didn't have a lock, like was promised by the worker. After moving for 13 hours that hot day, we had to find a lock at 10pm on a Sunday night. Fleet Farm and Hyvee were closed. The gas stations didn't have one. Had to go 35 minutes round-trip to a Walmart to find one. I would highly recommend these storages. They have everything you need to load and unload your belongings. They even have a spot where if there's something you don't want you can leave it there for someone who can use it they can take it. (No mattresses which is totally understandable). The facility is nice and clean, but I was not informed how to enter the building after getting the map from the service desk employee, after going to the units, I tried opening the door and the alarm went off for a good minute or two, tried using speaker phone in storage area, called back to back several times, no one picked up. I have a twisted ankle, and had to go all the way to the front desk to find out what to do. This should have been explained to me before I left the service desk. My biggest complaint is I purchased a 10x10x10 storage unit on line, when I went to the facility, I was given two small units side by side. I think this is very wrong to be misled on my purchase. What could I do once I had everything with me to move. Very unhappy with this turnout. So I'm paying for a unit that is not what I asked for. The employee told me there were no other units available. The four star vs five star would only be because U guys had some issues with the card reader. Only concern was the always overflowing drop-off/leave behind (read garbage) bin inside the facility. Other customers obviously decided they needed to get rid of lots of stuff, but it was not properly removed from there. I have had difficulty with uhaul for the past week I reserved a ground level unit and the confirmation email said I was on the second floor. I called to upgrade to the available ground floor 10x15 to find out that was not set. I called in to make sure I was a ground floor 10x10x10 when I got there for my reservation it was assigned a 10x10x7 and only one working employee without access or knowledge of the storage units there was no compensation for all of the inconvenience I was put through especially since I was paying movers to help by the hour they were on the clock for half an hour before we even got to start unloading I was also given a unit that had a lockout tag saying the previous tenet no longer had access to due to failure of paymentDevin D. | First Impressions

The worst experience at uhaul I have ever had. They left a newbie up front who didn’t know anything, and laughed when I told him my movers were there waiting and getting paid by the hour. The newbie told us the GM must not be onsite, so we couldn’t get anyone to help us. I want y’all to refund my movers, train your new hires, and figure out a system for not keeping dozens of customers waiting with no solutions. I worked with Austin at the local facility. He was fabulous with really great customer service skills. He helped me switch from a smaller unit to larger one. Found a perfect fit for what I needed. Didn’t know we had to use a certain keypad to sign-in so we kept getting access denied. Was put on a second floor without the elevator working. When we opened our storage it triggered the alarm. We didn’t have a lock as stated a free one was to be provided.
